A Highschool classmate of mine I had for a year, perished aged 25, in the Marsh McLennan office in WTC and his remains have never been recovered. I didn't know him that well, but I do remember him fondly as he helped me one day at school when I got sick and had to leave early. In 2009, by sheer coincidence, my neighbor at the time was a friend of his family and his father, who I'd never met, rang my doorbell and asked if he could use my empty parking spot. It was very nice to see the resemblance to his son, as he talked about David for a little while, referring to it all as "the accident". I don't think he noticed my 1980s poster of the Manhattan skyline, on the wall behind me, which was just as well. I came to understand why he called it an accident. David had only arrived back from Europe to NYC as close as September 9. I let him use my parking spot as I'd just sold my car. It was for sure the very least I could do for him. I still have that poster on the wall, which is now older than the Twin Towers ever became themselves.

He wasn’t a random worker. He is a museum staff member. If there was a painting missing from the MET or an ancient Egyptian artifact missing from Cairo and a museum staff member (who likely has a background in history) set out to find it it’s because that is what people in that line of work do.

Thank you for this beautiful story, about finding Albert. I went to NYC in August 2017, and made a special visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum. It was both emotional and overwhelming to tour the Museum and the Plaza, where the Towers stood. Even standing in front of the reflecting pools, with water flowing into the "voids", I couldn't comprehend that "THEY" weren't there. My mind filled in the missing buildings and I kept looking up! It stays with me 5 years later, and is difficult to talk about... 😢 RIP to those lost... 🙏

this is strange. so apparently he didn't graduate from high school and no other photograph of him exists. It isn't like we had a choice of not getting our photos taken, but apparently he obviously hated it so much that he only had that one photograph. He likely has relatives but apparently they didn't care to keep his photographs or they were thrown out after being the last member of his family. Other than his step daughter, which also seems strange since if he was in touch with her, why not take a photograph with each other. Very strange.
