It's done. It's finally done. Holy crap, this was my first time drawing the villains. (Yes, Toga included.) And Shinsou, sort of. I rarely draw him, which is part of why I chose him to play the other mc role in the first place. Shinsou needs to be drawn more. INCLUDE HIM IN STUFF MORE, COWARDS.
And yes, I know, the more obvious choice would've been Bakugou or Todoroki, and don't get me wrong, I love the idea of those two as well, but I crossed them out because I want it to hurt for Shinsou. I'll let you think about why that is ;)
I love the soundtrack of the Greatest Showman, and this song happened to be one of my favorites. Bringing it justice was more difficult than I ever anticipated, as the direction of that particular number? Italian chef kiss Beautiful. Flawless. 10/10 Bartender.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy watching this as much as I enjoyed making it. Definitely a fun one.

Shinso's worst nightmare is becoming a villain that everyone sees him to be, so even if it sounds tempting, Shinso will not accept no matter what to accept that the people, the jerks, the *bullies*, was right all along. Fortunately, it's actually still pretty hard for Izu to let go of his heroic morals, so even if they offer, Izu will still not completely accept the jargon of AFO's shit in canon :D But if he does, well..... Izu-kun would be terrifying as a villain, would he?

I love that the song cuts off when it does. Because Villain Deku I get. He's been true enough bullshit that honestly I wouldn't blame him for snapping and wanting revenge. Shinsou is different though. I'm not saying that he didn't have a difficult past, (God knows I just want to hug him and tell him it's going to be alright) but the bullying wasn't because people thought he was useless (like Izuku) but because they thought he had a "villain quirk". He's been fighting his whole life to become a hero and honestly I think he'd rather have Shigaraki kill him than become the very thing he desperatly tried not to become.

I think it would take a serious breach of trust from a hero in his life (Eraserhead or one of his classmates maybe?) to convince him to turn to villainy. He’d need a serious push in the wrong direction to take up that offer.

Yeah, definitely. I also love the sort of role reversal here, with Deku being the creepy, morally shady one and Shinsou being the one who remains heroic. That's not an exact flip obviously, as Shinsou was never evil in cannon, just determined and opportunistic, but seeing Deku be the darker of the two is fun.

From what I can tell I think Shinsou would only be turned if the world truly failed him. If he’d been rejected from the Hero Course even after the sports festival, and then rejected from the other career choices he tried to make after that. If truly abandoned by society, with every positive door finally shut in his face, he would finally cave and become what society had forced him to be. Cannon shinsou as cannon has progressed would never have been corrupted by the dark side Shoto on the other hand >.>

The way it zooms in on Hitoshi's face when he says he'd just be another clown... _Chills._ And afterwards, Kurogiri smiling (you can tell cause his eyes crinkle up and it's so sweet), Dabi looking chill for once, Toga with the doe eyes and crush posture Without the manic bloodthirst... They all look better. And when it zooms in on _Shiggy,_ you can tell that Izuku is talking to him too. "You could chill out a bit, my man. It's not a bad thing to enjoy stuff sometimes." He says 'cure your aching,' and 'break down your walls.' Shiggy is a tense, angry, and irritable motherfucker who thrives on chaos. Izuku joined the League, and everyone seemed to mellow out a bit, but here, Izuku is the one talking to the hostage, and Shiggy is the quiet threat. Either Izuku is, through T-Posing or charisma, now in charge, which Shiggy hates, or (and I like this better) Izuku showed up and was just... kind. He was understanding, and didn't judge them for their scars and weirdness. Twice? Traumatized. Toga? Literally has a dietary need for blood. Dabi? Scary to look at. But I like to think Izuku didn't care. That, villain or not, he could empathize with them. Toga got bullied by peers for her quirk situation. Dabi got beat to shit and burned by someone he looked up to and wanted to be like _for a decade._ He's good to Toga and helps her find things that fit her diet, he talks to Dabi about self destructive habits and abuse that he can relate to, he spends time with Kurogiri... He's earned their trust and he doesn't abuse it. But Shiggy has been alone since he was five, minus Kurogiri entering the scene when he was like eight at the earliest. I did the math. He's not trusting, and this is a nod to Izuku using Hitoshi as a way to remind Shigaraki that he's allowed to chill out and feel safe, that he and the League aren't an unsafe place. ...Or Izuku is just insane and Shiggy is low-key worried and mad that his authority has been undermined.

I just love how deku is still somewhat of a hero, despite being a full blown villain now. Like that little part of him that wants to save lives is still there. But wasn't gonna waste it on people who doesn't deserve it. And him finding these group of misfits, them accepting him. And him helping them accept who they are. i have seen this like one hundred times and i just realized something. When Shinso says "I don't need to see the other side" Midoriya frowned. He seemed to be bothered by that. I feel like midoriya joined the league because he understood them, he took the time to try and understand their point of view and realized how broken is the society they are living with. Where if you don't meet it's expectations you're marked as a freak. Just like Dabi, And if you're different, you're no better, just like himiko, midoriya... And Shinso. So, Shinso, having gone through struggles similar to deku's, he would expect him to be better than the heroes blinded by society's expectations. But hearing him say that he won't even give it a chance, that he "doesn't need to see the other side" seeing them as villains and nothing more, it pains midoriya, specially because he would expect better from someone like shinso. Still, I love that while Shinso is doing something that hurts midoriya, midoriya is doing the same by expecting him to join them when the thing shinso hates the most is to be labeled as a criminal just because of his situation. gosh, all the little details in this animatic that makes for such great storytelling, i just love it more and more with each rewatch.

What’s so good about having Shinzo here is that, at any time, he could have activated his quirk while Deku was still responding to him and he could have easily gotten out of there. But he stayed because he was genuinely intrigued in what Deku was saying- literal chills from this oh my gosh. Shinzo had every chance to escape until the other villains showed up, then his fate was sealed and there was no use in him activating his quirk.

He definitely knew the other LOV members were nearby waiting, which is why he chose not to try and fight/run. Why else would Deku not bother properly tying Shinso up? Shinso knows full well that if he makes a single mistake then he's as dead as a doornail. Plus, even if he used his quirk on Deku then the other league members would've simply snapped him out of it. Deku was in COMPLETE control of the situation.

This animatic gave me a shock because that is the cleanest, smoothest animatic movement I have seen in months. I'm ignoring animators like Odd1sOut and Jaidan Animations 'cause they're always animating, but most of the animatics I see are very rough, dark and generally choppy but The smoothness in the small things Mushie did, like eye movements, made all the difference

I love how throughout this, Midoriya is mostly smug and sometimes a bit crazy, but there's certain frames where that changes and we can see the soft Deku that we're all used to. That's what really sells this as an AU that's really possible for me. Under everything, he hasn't fully changed. He still loves his team, but he's also more gentle than them, in a way. He took that kindness in his heart and uses it to try to manipulate Shinsou and that's just really... Real.

i can imagine that being a very possible alternate life for Izuku if All Might hadn't made Izuku his inheritor, told him that he could never be a hero like he wanted. Just because he lacked a quirk or worse, because he he did inherit it, but was deemed a poor choice of inheritor because he couldn't control it. All for One would definitely find a use for Izuku and give him all the support he never got in that case...Which is downright terrifying.

Whenever I feel discouraged and don't feel like animating, I just watch this and instantly remember why I have a passion for art and animation in the first place. I love the emotion conveyed in their facial expressions. The enthusiastic and charismatic nature that Deku absolutely reeks of, and how unbothered he seems despite Shinsou's clear disdain for his offer. Every single beautiful frame and the feeling in each of them. Absolutely spectacular and so so impressive, this deserves a Gordon Ramsay kiss.

I'm not a fan of BNHA (not my type of show, sadly) but I heard a lot about it as my brothers read the manga and it's popular. I got curious enough when I saw this video in my recommended and decided to watch cause I like the song and I'm familiar with the AU's concept. Best decision ever! This video is amazing! There wasn't much animation but the way the "camera" moves and the subtle changes in expression made the entire thing feel alive it's so good!
