I don't know if you remember, but in the previous episode, Rudeus didn't ask Sylphie to marry him. He told Ariel that he's marrying Sylphie. That's why he seems to be reinstating his proposal at the end of the episode. He still hasn't ask the involved party, and still did everything without her explicit yes.

They don't read comments. That said, Rudeus states his intention to marry Sylphie, Princess calls her Sylphie Greyrat, and then Sylphie asks Rudeus to take care of her. That's a pretty explicit yes.

@@ElyonDominus In Japanese culture, stating things explicitly- especially about romance- is very important. For example here in the West, you could meet a person you like, hang out with each other often, and eventually get intimate in some form and from that point on it would be understood that you're a couple- even if some people will put off labeling it for a while. This is not the case in Japan. Typically, a confession precedes intimacy. Both parties may be, and often are, keenly aware of how each other feels., Still, the act itself is viewed as necessary. The order might be less important amongst some younger people but there's still a lot of emphasis put on the confession. And amongst most older people it's a foregone conclusion that there's a "proper" way to things. All that to say, yes, while it may have been obvious, to a Japanese person there was still much significance to Rudy's verbal affirmation at the end.

In The Novels (no spoilers), Rudy uses ariels name to look for a mansion so by extension Selphie easily learns of it, also all of his friends know knew about his ED so it being "My Curse" doesn't really make sense when they are supposed to know.

The circular glass is how a lot of old windows were made. It was called crown windows I think. It was how some windows were made when they had to be made from hand blown glass. A lot of shacks in old ghost towns in the US have crown windows.

I always love how observant you guys are with the shows you watch, so I'm glad you're back to reviewing MT again. As far as Rudy being respectful of Sylphy's concerns instead of reacting negatively, I think it's part of how he's learning to show appreciation for others. In his past life, he didn't appreciate his parents enough before they were gone, so in contrast he's trying to appreciate what everyone and especially Sylphy's doing for him.

Great reaction and discussion, Ben and Anna! This will be a great part, a real rollercoaster of emotions, so don't expect it to be something monotonous and confined to the "slice of life" genre. I've read all 26 volumes of Mushoku and volume 12 (which is being adapted in this part) is one of the best, certainly among the top 5. But I'll say one thing: the top four haven't been adapted yet, so it won't disappoint you, the future is bright!

Volume 20 & 21 are the highest peak of Mushoku Tensei Volume 13, 16, 14 and 15 are top 6. Season 3 contains so many of the best volumes of the series.

I know what Anna means by the art. The atmosphere, everything really... has a really rustic feel. It is a fantasy world but the grainy layer present in everything conveys this image of nostalgic and simplistic times you'd experience when hearing your grandparents telling you about a story in their time. Which, considering future events... is the best way this anime could've been adapted.

I'm dissapointed in the fact that the studio decided to skip the house repairing process, maybe it's to save time to give it to volumen 12 that is gonna be very important to go all out with the animation and the screen time

they skipped it in the manga as well. Overall the renovation itself is nice fluff in the novel, but not necessary for the story progression. Of course he's going to renovate the place and spruce it up for Sylphy's liking, so the particulars of the process itself are kinda redundant. The only things of consequence is the mention of the sigil on the fireplaces, the general noting of the quality of construction, and making the basement rodent-proof.

Man so good, also what show starts off as a child(well Adult, then child) then adult and THEN married! Hell 99% of Anime don't even have people get together the barely even kiss in the entire series until the final episode... Honestly the only shows I can think of are Dragon Ball, and Naruto.

Also with the lore of the house some stuff that's left out from the LN or changed that you would know by this point (so no future spoilers here). One change they made that I found a little odd is how they showed the interior of the house before he bought it. It was in good condition, and mostly dust free outside of some spots. There was also a chapter titled "Dramatic" that goes over Rudy talking with an expert craftsman who would be fixing up the place. Something that the craftsman said was "The floor's oddly well made, but the walls and ceiling are pretty shoddy work in comparison. Almost like the basement's the most important part of the house and everything else is just extra."

I didn't really separate me calling how they showed it in the anime odd from me describing what they said about it in the LN. I don't disagree, although I think the impact of how the craftsman viewed it adds a lot to it. Having a secret research room is one thing, but viewing that the actual house was basically just extra thrown on top of the basement? I'm struggling to put into words what I get from that, so hopefully it'll pop into my head soon enough lol

I'm starting to believe that eye Redeus has is going to dull his combat experience. It has saved him on occasions, but at the same time, he should have more calmness in battle and decision-making, but how he reacted to the doll makes me wonder if he relies on it too much.

In the novel it was Rudeus overthinking things. He wanted to preserve the house, so he dialed back the power of his shot. Here it was standard strength, but off-center, so it bounced off. But him having a moment of panic fits with all the joking about this being the Ghostbusters episode. Remember Peter Venkman's first encounter with Slimer. On the Demon Eye, Rudeus knows its limitations: he can only see a bit into the future, and sometimes it doesn't give enough time to react; he can only see the futures of things currently in his field of vision, like he could see Orsted attacking him, but not Ruijerd shielding him.

Rudeus paid under 500 Asuran gold coins for it, 50 million yen, so about 350 thousand dollars/euros. What affected the price positively (more expensive) was the renovation and gradual furnishing of the place. What affected the price negatively (less expensive) were the property being stigmatized, him taking on a quest to clear it himself, using Badigadi's and Ariel's names as guarantors (which is how Sylphy already knew of the house when they went to investigate), and providing stone materials for the renovation himself. So he dropped the price of an already down-priced property by half and saved on materials. The house itself is massive: custom-built basement, two highly modern fire places, two large living spaces, two wet spaces (one as a kitchen, the other one converted to a bath with adjoining dressing room), two master bedrooms with adjoining rooms, two WCs, an entrance hall with internal balcony, and eight additional rooms

Seems the sigils for the titles are static. I'd just gotten a short story from the _setting materials collection_ machine translated, and it featured Dead End coming across a gravestone for Ruijerd's scouting party after leaving Shirone. I had the sigil of the Dragon God on it, since the Dragon God at the time had both filled and built that tomb. The house isn't as old as that tomb. That sigil on the notebook is for one of the Dragonfolk, but not the Dragon God.

I Recall that the dead smugglers / slavers at the Smugglers Base at Zanto Port had to be burned for that reason. So i guess at least in the WN it applied to humans as well. I don't recall the mana mechanic in the WN though. I might just have forgotten about it though.

@@SinandLerd Even in ODT humans burned their dead, so... The case with the smugglers was also the issue of being close to the Great Forest, so even if they wouldn't turn, they'd attract monsters to feed on them.
