Mushroom Wonderland

Күн бұрын

In this video we go out into Mushroom Wonderland with Mycologist and VP of the local Mushroom sociiety to see what kind of beautiful mushrooms are growing in the forests of western Washington.
Spring is an exciting time for the mushroom forager. After a long and bleak winter the tempurature has started to rise, and the warmer rains have started falling, and as a result beautiful and sometimes delicious mushrooms spring from the ground and logs and trees of the forest.
On this channel Aaron and his trusty pal Gunnar take us into the forest to see what these mushrooms are called, what the uses might be, and how to help you identify these mushies.
This is just one in a long series of forasging videos sthat this channel is getting known for, so we hope that you subscribe and follow on all the other platforms that are listed below. On patreon we offer videos you might not get to see here on KZbin, so please become a member and join Aarons mission to help educate about mycology.
In this video we encounter a couple types of Hygrocybe, including the beautiful Hygrocybe flavescens, Trametes gibbosa, Flammulina filiformus, Psathyrella piluliformus, Pseudoplectania, Stereum, Clitocybe decptiva, Laccaria laccata, Inocybe insinuata, Entoloma, Chrysomphalina, and a few others and a couple of plants.

Lately I’ve been going back and watching old videos that I missed over the years. I love putting your videos on while I commute to work in the morning. I drive through some beautiful redwood trees, usually covered in fog, and the vibe just matches so well. I wish you put out a new video every single day, eventually I am going to run out of content 😢 love your work bro mush love

Tough Spring, had better hopes after the worst Fall ever. Temps have been too low. Worst part is the photo apps that show you "one year ago today." Pics of tons of mushrooms, last Spring was awesome. Checked one of my best spots on Sunday and found a lone Gemmata that bravely punched through. Warmer weather and rain on the way soon so I have my hopes up. Getting awfully late though.

Amanita is a genus that people should use extreme caution with the coccora That grow down there in the spring are amazing, kind of a metallic orange color with large patches of universal veil remnant and a cup like volva. They all have a white spore print, But don't get it confused with the death cap! It also has the cup like volva, But is usually olive green to tanish white. Make sure you do your research! Thanks for the kind words.

@@mushroomwonderland1 Every year I lived in Santa Cruz, there would be a story in the paper about a family mis identifying a Coccora, with devastating consequences.
