Thanks a bundle chaps! I have been foraging for 50 years, but now, I always watch your videos on a seasonal basis. As the season starts, I brush-up before I go out nature-mumping. You've taught me much, free gratis, so the least I can do is "like" and subscribe. Great content, across platforms. Well done indeed!

Spent hours out yesterday determined to find my first morel and no such luck. I open KZbin to see someone find several in one day….I’m not going to pretend I’m not incredibly bitter 😂 been looking all month and had zero luck so far! Great video nonetheless 👍

it took me a good few years to find morels, most of the host trees of the mycorrhizal species have been wiped out by other fungal diseases making them hard to find in nature,

Outstanding video, Great information, and on a subject I adore. I have foraged these in the UK "Morel" and in Spain on a walk not sure which they were but they looked like the first ones you showed. All delicious. The Spanish ones ended up in a very nice impromptu omelette.

Awww, I get a lovely crop of False Morels every year in my garden. Last year, I had one grow about the size of my dog's head (Labrador). Amazing to look at - a bit disappointing that these are the only Morels I have ever seen around here.

Here in Sweden and in Finland we still eat them, just boil it 2-3 times for 5 min each changing water in between. Dry them after boiling then cook them like any other morel

ive been out exploring several times to try and find morels over the last month and found nothing. today I found them growing in a raise bed that I put together in autumn last year. I have no idea what filler I used to build the bed or where the spores come from but im going to spread the spores everywhere I can now to grow more next year

I was wondering about foraging mushrooms in graveyards. There were some recent articles regarding the pollution issue due to chemicals used in the embalming process seeping into groundwater and soil. With mycelia networks being so vast underground & their ability to absorb pollutants (hence why we don’t generally forage close to busy roads etc), I would assume that there’s a danger of mushrooms foraged in graveyards carrying toxins from the embalming process.
@WildFoodUK1
@WildFoodUK1 Ай бұрын
Those chemicals should be 6 feet down and shouldn't come to the surface.. Mycelium does not go that deep
@lostinaveyron2279
@lostinaveyron2279 Ай бұрын
So are the mycelium infused coffins not going to work then? It’s quite a new project but I’m sure you’ve heard about it. 6 feet isn’t that deep, I’m surprised mycelium doesn’t go down that far myself. Anyway, you guys are the experts of course.

I have lots of black morels growing on my wild garlic (woodchipped) patch. Is it ok to ignore them, I mean, will they endanger my son (feet accidentally touching it)? I dugged out & threw away the other day but they keep appearing under the canopy of my neighbour’s gigantic sycamore over my side of the garden. And Epping Forest is behind our house. Now 11 of these babies popped out of the soil today. I think the fungi might have some sort of healthy relationship with the soil/sycamore but if I no-dig-ignore them, will they spread even more next spring? Help!
