Quit comparing Slipknot and Mushroomhead, two totally different bands, yes, they both wear masks and play metal, but that is where the similarities end. One isn’t better than the other, if you say one is better than the other than that is your opinion, not a fact. Just shut up and enjoy the damn music.

ShinraFugitives Not really, SlipKnoT’s self titled was really the only album they had rap metal, except maybe Antenna’s to Hell album, but I’m not sure if that is just a demo or a regular studio album. Also, aren’t rap and hip hop the same thing? Or at least very similar? Mushroomhead would actually be more industrial and alt metal with some Avant-grade and Nu metal thrown in there, SlipKnoT is more Nu metal now a days. Iowa was the only album to really feature elements of other types of metal genres, specifically death metal.

I see why people compare it to slipknot but the masks and the intention behind the music are two extremely different things, slipknot has more of a nu/heavy metal sound and mushroomhead has a industrial metal sound to it. Slipknot also deals with more personal topics while it seems mushroomhead has more about social commentary (feel free to correct me if i’m wrong about anything I just got into them about 3 or 4 months ago)

Mushroomhead and Slipknot is both great. I like both and I clearly hear the difference between the bands. Sure they both have masks but why is that such a big thing? There's other bands that also vear masks, maybe not as popular as these but that doens't mean they copied any of them. And the masks looks different. I'm a HUGE Slipknot fan. I look forward to their new album they've got coming. THEY'RE NOT DEAD! This whole time, they've kept playing shows. Keeping their music alive. There's a lot more to being a band than just putting new tunes out every chance you get. When you do that....you just end up putting crap out there that no one even wants to hear. But, anyways, as for Mushroomhead, I have a respect for this band as well. I enjoy their music. Always have. First introduced through "12 Hundred" (GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION) & been a fan ever since. Do I think they're better than Slipknot? No. Do I think they're underrated? RIDICULOUSLY UNDERRATED!!!!!! They should be up there as one of the bigger faces in the mainstream metal world right by Slipknot's side. Doing shows. Though the dynamics in the bands are similar...Its UNREAL how different each band's sound is. I actually appreciate what both bands bring out of SO many levels of aggression. I am one of those who love both bands. I was not overly familiar with either until my son turned me on to them. He told me each band has its own merits and I should choose for myself. He also made the same point you did, that they don't "sound" alike, nor do they look alike. The ONLY similiarity between them is that both bands sport masks. I would too, if only to hide my true identity from the general public! Thank you for reminding folks that they should just respect the music!

I remember in the early 2000s, I've found Slipknot to be mind blowing with the created artistic univers, the masks, the "in your face" riffs, the "high" snare. I remember finding the mixes of Mushroomhead a bit boomy, wooly and too dense in the low end and low mids. But the evolution of the last years is just incredible. Today Mushroomhead is the best masked band in the world. The videos are just incredible, the masks, the intensity, the mixes are (to my taste) more in your faces. I just can't wait that this pandemic ends and hope to have them here in Europe.
