The man was 45-years-old when he scored the very first Star Wars film. At an age when many think that their prime is long gone, he was just warming up.

@@somebodysomething4242 honestly, most pop artists peak in creativity before their 40s, even the beatles. plenty of outliers, but still the norm. the majority of athletes retire at that age as well. that's also when people tend to settle down and focus on getting long term jobs to provide for their families instead of still taking chances on careers that may not work out.

Wanna know the real kicker? The year he wrote the entire score for Harry Potter, he simultaneously worked on two other films. Most composers out there couldn't write what he wrote for Harry Potter if they were given an entire decade of time to do it, and he did it in months while writing other soundtracks. This is why John Williams is one of a kind. He's able to produce lush and detailed scores, full of intricate orchestrations and original ideas, in record times.

As a film student in 1977 I had the great honor to meet John Williams at Glen-Glen Sound on the Paramount Studios backlot. He was there "practicing" a short piece of music's timing with a small orchestra of about 60 members. Guess what piece of black and white film (this is what studios use for technical background uses such as music, special effects and folly work (sound effects) for various departments to "get it right"? Only myself and my College Professor knew what music he was "practicing"......the Star Wars trench scene with Luke Skywalker and R2D2 in the X-wing, flying down the Deathstar trench......Yup, it was quite the day for our behind the scenes tour......this was the kind of tour most studio visitors don't get to see. It was such a thrill I'll NEVER FORGET. Mr. Williams after finishing his short timing recording...came into the sound room and shook everyone's' hands and introduced himself, and as I said , myself and my professor were right in front saying we could hardly wait for the release of the film. Mr. Williams was surprised my professor and I knew about Star Wars, we admitted to being Lucas fans since THX-1138. This being well before the internet, we just "knew people" in the industry. Such a gentleman, and a great talent.

John Williams is the Mozart of our generation. Of all the movie music ever written by composers, none come closes to what John Williams has written. He has a style unlike any other. You have a director who is telling a story visually, and then you have John Williams, who retells it musically. You put the two together, and you have a masterpiece of a film. With John's music, you get more scope for the imagination. I could take John Williams' music, listen to the music by itself, and know perfectly where I am in the film it accompanies.

I wish that a show and tribute like this could've been done for James Horner after his death. When I heard James Horner died years ago I waited for the media to give a beautiful send off for him given his equally gorgeous and intense movie music, but that never came and it hurt me deeply because I was a big James Horner fan, just like I'm a big John Williams fan and a big Hans Zimmer fan. I'm going to a Hans Zimmer concert in Las Vegas on October 12th and I'm very excited. Movie music is indeed the life's blood of cinema. If you've loved movies in your life, then you at least, sub-consciously, love movie score music. Most people never became direct fans of movie music because they haven't put the connection together that the movies they love are what they are because of some brilliant composers.

Thank you for all of the music you have brought to us, and every time we listen to your music, it feels very nostalgic and classic. In my opinion, I feel like you’re the only composer that I’ve had to experience your music live back in 2019 at the Arlene Schnitzer concert hall in Portland, thank you for your contribution to movies. Whether I was flying down the trench in the Death Star or flying my bike into the sunset. Or trying to find my girlfriend in a market place full of baskets. Then well into my twenties it was Jurassic park, Schindlers list and saving private Ryan. My god the feelings that his music evokes.

Early in his career, the music that he did for the 60's tv series "Lost in Space" is some of the best work ever done for tv. He not only wrote scores for many episodes of the series, but he composed the famous opening themes for season 1&2 and a new theme for season 3 of "Lost in Space". Just like I did when Ennio Moriconi, Robin Williams, Carlos Marin from Il Divo, Prince Philip, Matthew Perry and Celine Dion's husband died and when Jeremy Renner got hurt and Bruce Willis got ill with some sort of dementia. I feel other's people's pain and sense of unjust and unfair treatment too deeply... I can get very upset when something bad happens to someone else, even people I don't even know, which was the case for ALL of the celebrities mentioned here. I never met or talked to them or to anyone who knew them and yet... I cried anyway... not really sure why... am I the only one who reacts with tears and/or anger to when bad things happening to people, I don't even know? I’m excited!! John Williams is my absolute favorite composers. Too bad I won’t be able to meet him, like I lost my chance meeting with Richard M. Sherman and Angela Lansbury. His music is the reason that I hate today’s modern music because nobody can write anything melodic than him. When this documentary comes out, I might be able to see other recording sessions that’s impossible for me to look for because I love looking at bonus features and mentioning the music in them. For a 24 year old with Autism that’s gifted what music truly should sound, I couldn’t be more excited about honoring the man who scored my favorite soundtracks.

My god! I felt goosebumps with the trailer alone. Almost like the first time I heard his music. I cannot wait.
