Love the idea for using bean bags to "plot" out your sit spots! Thanks!

Love your duet-trio-quartet idea! I frequently have students “turn and talk” and this will help partner up more quickly! The turn-and-talk is great for So MANY reasons: they all get to share ideas, I can easily hear who understands and who needs help, they often re-teach one-another when needed and more. Love it and will use your great idea! Please let us know how this goes for you. Happy School Year!

Yes! I could not have said it better myself! It is so important to let them talk and interact 😁 No problem! Glad you could use it to enhance what you already do!

My first year I went all fancy and bought star and foot shaped sitspots for my toes and circles and they were destroyed within the year. Being on maternity leave for 2 1/2 months certainly didn’t help but I found that the more corners the more likely my kids are to pick them. I just buy circles now and they can last for a few years IF you are on the kids about picking them and making it a part of the expectations. I saw somewhere on FB a about a teacher who tells them they are hiding treasure under the sit spot and I’d they pick up their number or move off it if when they are sitting I might turn into a pirate and steal their treasure! Also with sit spots, you can wash them which I’ve had to do before and I can buy specific numbers and colors if I need to replace just a few. Highly recommend!

Great video and so helpful to see how you set things up. Question: I LOVE your "Expectations" posters at 16:00 in the video. Enter, Exit, Always Be Kind, etc. Are you planning on putting those on TpT?

For the sit spots, I buy large ones and cut them in half. They're not exactly a circle anymore, but now I get 2-3 years out of it.

Try pushing the button in on the table, it is adjustable.

should never face the of a piano towards the students cause they can throw things and damage the back of a piano im a prior piano technician from years ago, but the sound board in the back of the piano is very sensitive to impact and very easy to damage so i highly recommend turning the piano around with the front facing towards the students instead if you haven't already done so.

Hey! I noticed you don’t have chairs. Last year I didn’t use chairs in my classroom either but I only taught K-2, this year I’ll be K-5. Does having no chairs for older kids works well for you?

Hi Emily, I have never used chairs for even my older kids and it has been totally fine! Thanks for the question! Good luck with the transition! The older kids are fun too
