Wow! I love the way you interpreted the lyrics for Erwin's theme and the way you're able to link each piece to the anime. Great reaction 💖

There’s a tour that they are doing and playing the music and the scene that go along with it! To anyone who wants to still check if there’s tickets 😭

The best part for me is Laco's somber "freedom, freedom forgive me" which is ironic on so many levels relating from the show to the elevated chaos that ensues by the end of the song. Something about personifying an expression as complex as freedom and apologizing as if it were a means to an end to express literally every character in the show's struggle towards freedom just resonates so well throughout both the show and real life.

On a side note, the fact that Before Lights Out is both Zeke's and Erwin's meta-theme is insanely crazy considering both of them chased a life dream and were so close to achieving it only to be trampled by someone else's false sense of freedom is just amazing writing and storytelling and really brings the characters to life. For a composer to take that thought process and translate it to song and have it be impactful is truly a genius at work.

If you like you could also check out some of Yamamoto's work for Season 4. I personally recommend this 4 Ashes on the Fire The other side of the sea Footsteps of Doom An Ordinary Day

They did use this taping in season 3 Counter attack mankind I think was used at the end of the boulder arc in season 1? It's kind of a triumph song. Like fuck yeah, we did it. We're fighting back. God I can't get over how genius Sawano is
Counter attack first played I believe when mikasa was about to get killed and eren first became a titan and saved her

The first time I remember it playing was in Season 1 Episode 3, right after Sasha's iconic potato introduction. During Eren's whole, "If you can't take the pressure, you've gotta leave" bit.

i would not say that Yamamoto's music "pales in comparison" to Sawano... just like Sawano, i can't think of a single Kohta ost which i would skip, aside from MICHI which is just ambient mystical paths noises and some of his best definitely rival Sawano's - especially An Ordinary Day, THAW, All of The Freedoms, Guilty Hero, TRAITOR and Nowhere to Go
