I‘m not qualified to talk about what‘s halal and haram, may Allah save me and save all of us from talking about such serious matter without any knowledge. But I do wanna say how I feel about music, and I feel it‘s wrong. I will never accept it being permissible and just fine, especially when looking at music what it has become nowadays: vulgar, immoral, cheep and disgusting. And let‘s be honest, music makes us forget about Allah and what really matters. Better stay away from it.

esinihio da costa yes I was thinking the same all the time. but whatever conclusion I come to I realise that I'm just trying to find the way to justify that which is by all means wrong. so I simply decided not to question its permissibility anymore and accept it for good. music is my greatest weakness and I know it, but I prefer to admit that I'm commiting a sin choosing to listen to it than to say it's fine as long as it's "pure and innocent", u understand what I mean?

+Anne S. Would you say the same about films - documentaries - books - magazines - poetry - embroidery - painting - graphic design - pottery - mosaics ?

Well, yeah, there are also movies, books, poetry all kinds of things that can be bad, so it's better to avoid. I'm not knowledgable enough to speak about haram or halal, as I said, but I think I can trust my inner feeling when it comes to things I should stay away from. :))

@@esinihio Even if it’s no voices and just MUSIC it’s still harram under the rulings of what makes music harram from Shariah which is string instruments wind instruments and drums outside of the duff.

@@NoLefTurnUnStoned. Yes. Absolutely because each of the items mentioned are NOT immune to having harram in them especially movies and ALLAH SWT even names a Surah in Quran called the poets and the misguidance some of it it can have and graphic design if presented without censoring awrah is also impermissible

Most music is sick, vile, trash. This is true. Music has also been used for so many stupid purposes (i.e. withcraft, magic, spells, satanism), which are all obviously haram. We simply shouldn't listen to that music, which has the negative associations with it. I listen to a lot of this brothers lectures, and he's very knowledgeable. But after listening to this entire lecture, and the brother admitting himself, there is no clear ruling on it. Keep in mind, music, dance and singing were all prevalent in the time of Mohammad, and no restrictions were ever made against them.

I think modern pop music is the worst.. alcohol, partying, sex.. living like there's no tomorrow. There are some rock bands that mainly focus on living with anxiety, depression.. feelings of loneliness etc... I mean the lyrics

MustBe TheMost But you have to admit, the same heart that prays their salah and listens to music, wont be settled. You wont find Khushoo' in the salat when there is a song in your head. Your not concerating fully when you listen to music and of the likes, regularly. It's very corruptive and it claws at your Imaan. This is personal experience. It was eating me up, I found myself remembering lyrics to Music, nasheed and naats, more than The Surahs (even smaller ones) of Quran. It distances you from Quran, that you sympathise with song (musc, nasheeds and naats) lyrics more than the Powerful Ayat of Quran, and that lead to a depressing, dark stage in my life. No explicit daleel? Doesn't matter. It's imitation of Kufaar. It lowers true Imaan. And REALLY brings you away from Allah and his messager. There's really no excuse to it. SubhanAllah, the world we live in today, exceptions have gone too far and excuses are out the roof. May Allah protect us.

sound effects is not considered as music, an echo effect or the booming explosion is not music. The songs in the intro I could do with out but to say the are musical instruments or the like needs to be looked at closer

The view that Dawood (peace be upon him) used to seek forgiveness by playing the flute is a view for which there is no basis, rather what is meant by the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to Abu Moosa , “You have been given a beautiful voice (mizmaar, lit. flute) like the beautiful voices of the family of Dawood” (narrated by al-Bukhaari (5048) and Muslim (793) is that he had a beautiful voice, and the beauty of his voice was likened to the sound of the flute.

the mention of Dawud as using instruments is only mentioned in the torah and bible. It is not mentioned in the Quran nor has prophet muhammad (pbuh) said that dawud as played musical instruments. So as per the islamic teachings he did not play any instrument to praise God

khalas. if you don't want to believe in Sahih hadiths because you want to give into your desires, then so be it. Did you know that Imam Bukhari would travel long distances just to meet a narrator? And once, he saw that the narrator mistreated a horse, so he didn't take anything from that man, just because of the injustice he did to the horse. He didn't just pick and choose hadiths,he made sure they were reliable. Please dont reply to my comment anymore,i dnt want to argue anymore, just my 2 cents

He mentions a hadeeth that says "There will be from my ummah a people who will attempt to make halaal zina, silk, alcohol, and musical instruments" He mistakenly says at 29:55 they will make haraam what is halaal. He meant they will try to make halal what is haraam. So yes, silk is haraam. makes sense?
