Aggressive promotion of the music. 5. Fan meet events 6. Merchandise selling Plus sign but not the most important are music videos, lyrics, etc.

Josh/Lucas, I'm beginning to get this. Pop group development is capital-heavy up front, similar to building a rental building. It will take some five years to see operating income from the initial investment. Then the value of the group would be its net operating income exceeding costs.

You nailed it Lucas & Josh. It is not just about being good artists, it is about doing what works. My favorite Boyband are the best PPOP artists but there seems to be an oversight of what works globally. No doubt they know what works in the Philippines PPop but they have this mentality that for as long as they make good art it will work. Unfortunately, it’s not always the case.

I think BINI came after the management saw the success of MNL48 back - in terms of fan support of local pop group. They have pop groups (check out MYX magazines in the 20's) in the past but it didn't stand the chance against the influx of KPop. The kids were good but maybe not in investment/financial terms. I may not be a big BINI fan but I have so much respect to them and other groups that have financial backing - they also work as hard as the others. he there im a photographer. there are graphic artists who can do things from scratch here in the philippines. industry standard designers for people who can make graphics design for mainstream artists arent a lot of people. they dont come often because such artists doesnt have such high demand. most companies would rather cheap out on it rather than getting real artisans to do the work thats why its normally quite hard to look for them unless youd have an extensive connection to such contractors.

Thanks for the insightful discussion. Music industry in the Philippines does not work the same way. It’s mostly Metro Manila-centric. Tours only happen if you’re really popular. Money is earned if you get a regular TV gig like ASAP. The best money cones from corporate events. Christmas parties here are big. Companies are willing to pay artists millions for them to play during company anniversaries or Christmas parties. It’s guaranteed money, management does not have to risk it. Companies will only mount concerts for artists that are guaranteed to sell tickets. So touring is not commonly practiced. The only time the artists go to the provinces is if there are fiestas or brands bring them there.

BINI are about not conforming to the idol image, opposite of KPOP. Hi from US! I wouldn't be following anything Philippines if not for BINI.They're humble & didn't expect to blow up like they did and about being themselves keeping their positive vibes that resonate brightening people's days. Built their fanbase w/o relying on other groups from the group up, their unique pinoy oa/nonchalant "genuine selves that's relatable" to quote SB19! They just started making $ & BINI still donated 1M to KristinePH relief & were on the ground doing charity work!

Now everyone in my circle are fans or in the process of being converted lol. SB19 and Bini have a lot in common in terms of their character them being both Filipinos. Pablo is donating all the earnings from his movie, Una, to the victims of typhoon Kristine. They are also donating proceeds from their Pagtatag documentary showings in LA and San Francisco. Lucas & Josh, There’s a big difference between BINI and SB19. BINI did not go through the rejection of Ppop because SB19 already set the standard and made the nation aware of Ppop now. Second, BINI has a big management company and a big network which is ABSCBN who’s a big institution been in business for ages to produce their concerts and song productions and MV.
@Myluz1214 күн бұрын
Correction, that is half right. I agree SB19 did go through hardship to set the foundation for PPOP to be accepted in PH, but BINI wasn't immune to criticisms when they had their pre-debut and debut (even until now). The usual "feeling kpop, copycat, they wont last long" comments were there; That's why it took them 3 years to gain momentum and pop off in the OPM scene even with the backing of ABS. So they weren't void of "PPOP rejection" in the beginning, but yes not as much judgement as SB19 got when they started.

i dont really agree that sb19 is the one who made the NATION aware of ppop now. but for SB19 theyre the ones who officially made the COMMUNITY of ppop more established(cause many were already trying to make the ppop like kpop but sadly werent successful and DID receive "rejection" and criticism if we're basing off that) and BINI was the one who made the NATION aware of ppop. this is why the COMMUNITY gives credits to SB19. being called king of ppop. and BINI being acknowledged and called the NATIONS girl group. and if we're talking more about rejection. the difference is their gender. it was more acceptable for bini cause theyre girl/women, this concept is seen feminine and a-okay for them. whereas sb19 were called gay and not a man cause the concept of a pop group is not "manly" hence the "rejection". sure big network backing you up helps. but i have to share that many groups trying to push through ppop under that big network have been disbanded cause they were a failure. dont even discredit BINI just to elevate SB19. its okay to not always be thee number 1 nor being the first nor have such titles. Give credit where its due.

THE lectures of arrogant ATIN are dishonest. ALL THE GROUPS WANT to get better views & streams even SB19 otherwise they wouldn't promote as much as they do! SEVERAL K-POP groups have had companies before SB19, IZ an agency for ppoprise I agree. Last year was their year this year is BINI's year by the numbers hopefully that trend continues. Talent is measured by success! The rest is opinion based. Obnoxious comments don't pay their bills. Grammys & all the officials see it from the fanbases buzz & determine it by giving these two groups articles but we need more than that for PPOP to compete with KPOP.

Bini has Kpop consultant, thats why they get recommended when ppl stream kpop & jpop girl group songs. Kpop consultants are known for recommending paying streaming farms also. Which also makes me wonder why Blooms struggles in voting if against A'tin, if they are more? They also struggle with itunes purchases. So are their listeners actually fans or casual listeners because of free spotify accts or recommendation by being associated to kpop & jpop, plus streaming farms? As a PPop fan, I prefer SB19 for being honest in their streams & focus on talents. Like hell, Eminem has a solid fans around the world until now, but he doesnt even get 20M views in 1st day in YT. lol.. I am one of many who is not into strategy of getting pretty ppl with mediocre talents by big media, which has been the norm of big PH media tactic, which I am so disgusted. But they can do what they want anyway, no problem, it is just not my thing. But remember, many ppl fall out of love from Kpop coz they don't focus on talents (esp vocal stability) & artistry now. SB19 is incomparable coz they are an artists, & artist pursue what they want, not about trends, esp now with 1Z. And thank god they have solid fanbase, so they can pursue their artistry. As a libertarian, I love it. The truth is even with the big budget on Cherry on Top, it is nothing compared to the quality of Kpop & Jpop girl groups releases with virality & having much more solid fans. So Filipino groups should focus more & talents. But goodluck to Bini. But remember, idol concept is about solid fanbase, not casual listeners. It is about purchasing power of fans.

First, how the heck do you know about this K-pop consultant thing, and how do you know more than us, who’ve been with them from the start? 🤨 Oh, just to let you know that accusing them payola without evidence is a crime. 😉 Second, struggle, where? Yes, years ago, but now? Struggles with iTunes purchases? Are you that stupidly ignorant? How many times have they hit number 1 and occupy both both top 1,2, and 3 on iTunes even their AD songs managed to chart, both for singles and albums? Talk about struggles in purchasing when a mere hour-long 3 day grand concert sells out, along with merch, vinyls, etc. Third, I understand you prefer SB19 due to a different taste in music, but what do you know about honesty and talent, lmao? Yeah, sure, mediocre talents if that’s what you think, but even veterans praise them for their skills 🤡. Fourth, what do you know about artists? They write and produce their own songs. FYI, BINI also co-wrote most of their songs, and they’re the ones co-producing their concerts. Talking about like you know the girls, lmao, they pursue what they want, and they passionately love their craft. Fifth, I agree that COT has a high budget, but at the level of K-pop and J-pop, since ABS isn’t as big as the companies in Korea and Japan. Lastly, are you that stupid? How can you advocate for P-pop’s rise when there are no casual listeners? Aren’t you in that fandom where most fans have a superiority complex and look down on the masses because they have "low taste" in music?
@EclypseLiveArchive14 күн бұрын
huh? you think theyre paying for streams cause they arent winning against sb19? you know theres difference in having lots of streams cause the NATION listens to you PLUS international. do you think the common LISTENER is going to vote for COMMUNITY stuff? naur, cause theyre just a listener that LIKED binis songs. not really in the FANDOM. i have said in the other comment that it was SB19 that have established the COMMUNITY of ppop. and it was BINI who has made the NATION aware of ppop. this is why sb19 is being called KING of ppop whereas bini is called NATIONS girl group. so no brainer that SB19 is winning votes and BINI is having more listeners. what a way to discredit AND put down bini just cause you want sb19 to be on top of everything or have the titles of everything. very crazy. really had to put down their looks and talent/skills too. pathetic of you
@Vintagereject14 күн бұрын
Here again with payola allegations lmao. If BINI had kpop consultants until now, then why are there so much fuck ups by the management when it comes to catering to the fandom who are majorly composed of kpop fans? (Also, didn't SB19 come from an actual korean company? If there's anyone who have connections within the kpop industry, it would have been them lmao) Blooms struggle in voting because unlike Atin, the fans are not yet as organized when it comes to votings. We dont even have a solid streaming team as it's not yet organized. Do not forget that Atin as a fandom has existered for years, meanwhile Blooms only grew exponentially at the beginning of this year. What itunes purchase struggle? Until now, 4/5 of their songs are still on the Itunes top 10. Not to mention how their 3 albums suddenly became the top 3 albums on itunes last week just because. Also wasn't BINI's 3-day concert with higher ticket prices sold out immediately? Their merch? Would casual fans be willing to spend that much money? Doubt it. It has always been and always will be blooms. Just because we don't vote, does not mean we're not here. Maybe most of us are just busy with other things in our lives. Yall are saying that you dont care about streaming numbers but your fandom are the ones who do mass streaming all the time. If you really don't care, then why do it? Why belittle BINI's streaming achievements when you yourselves aim for the same thing? When MAPA and Gento became popular in the gp (not pantropiko or salamin salamin levels lbr), did you as a fandom not celebrate that? At the end of the day, artists want people to listen to their music. Not just be kept inside the bubble of their fandom no matter how big it is. SB19 is a talented group. BINI is also a talented group. They have different genres of music and neither is better than the other because music taste has always been subjective. You implying that BINI is mediocre just because they are pretty and come from a big media company (that has been in the red for years after being targeted by the government mind you), is disgusting. Stop projecting your insecurities at other people lol. Maybe the reason why the general population aren't biting your idols is because of the superiority complex many of you seem to have. Keep your feet on the ground lmao.

@EclypseLiveArchive because of long colonial period, Filipinos learned to imitate very well. Even Filipino rock started with the "Filipino Elvis" Eddie Mesa, then you had Pepe Smith, and finally with the Eraserheads and others it had become really Filipino. Same with how Spanish and Broadway influences are all over what is called OPM if you listen closely, even 1930s "bodabil" (vaudeville) - but then again what is wrong with imitating, innovating and improving? One could also say Jolibee is an imitation of KFC but probably it is better than KFC now. Many American PPop fans are trying Jolibee now or soon. In short, relax, trust the process. PPop has also brought tourists to the Philippines. SB19 fans last year, BINI fans this week.
