Thank you. Dimash actually came in 2nd place in 'I Am The Singer' in China. He was the only one that wasn't Chinese and was brought in as a 'wild card' singer. They needed to have a Chinese winner. Although all of the contestants were spectacular, Dimash stood out. This is an amazing performance. Gorgeous interpretation. Dimash has a 7+ octave range and is beautiful in all. Dimash is the best singer/vocalist in the world. :)

Dear TYLR, Thank you for your reaction video to this song. Dimash can really knock you off your feet, can't he? I have succumbed to his siren song for almost 4 years now, so hopelessly that I have even been to one of his few live concerts. What can I say about that? I don't like live gigs, I don't like schmaltzy songs, I don't like fans singing along. And yet I was there, enjoyed the schmaltz, cried and sang along and was still on cloud nine for weeks afterwards. The atmosphere in the hall was indescribable. So many positive vibes, so much love and affection branded back and forth between Dimash and his audience. Dimash is someone who kicked me out of my actual music comfort zone - charming but emphatic. He makes me like things that I otherwise like little to not at all and you could say that through him, I have learnt anew what music actually is, or how music can be, when someone stands in front of you who can completely surrender to it and you are no longer sure whether he is still singing or already transcending. On the one hand, in such moments he seems totally unreal, unearthly, not human, and seconds later he grins like a little rascal, squeezes hands, thanks you in all modesty, makes a joke, or speaks out passionately against war and shows you that he is more human and has both feet firmly on the ground than many of us. I look forward to your upcoming reactions to Dimash. You are still at the beginning of your journey and I am happy to accompany you on this path, because it always makes me a bit nostalgic, as it reminds me of my own Dimash discovery journey. I was in Düsseldorf (which was the easiest for me to reach from Switzerland) and saw Dimash at the airport the day before the concert, because he and I arrived only a few flights apart (coincidence, I had booked my flight long before). It was quite a surreal moment when Dimash suddenly appeared three or maybe four metres away from me. I didn't try to get closer to him, though. I'm too Swiss and almost compulsively neurotic about keeping my distance 😅 - since the pandemic anyway 😷 - they had relaxed the mask requirement in Germany the week before (relaxed, not abolished). So people were generally less crowded around him at the airport.

The "tribal" part is a technique that Dimash added to his cover this old hit song from the kazakh band A`Studio, as a mourning vocalise in honor of the lead singer of the band who passed away in 2015 at age 52 (heart attack). Dimash was a big fan of his, frequently listened to his songs, and called him "the most talented kazakh singer" (Batyrkan Shukenov) The last glissando in high mixed voice + riffs + runs lasted 23 seconds in a single breath. The man in white shirt giving Dimash a standing ovation at the end is a world-class composer that a few months after this performance started working with Dimash, and has since made him a priority in his work. His name is Igor Krutoy, born in Ukraine, and has worked with great artists like Andrea Bocelli, Lara Fabian etc Thank you so much for your videos :)

It took me a while to figure it out, and only after listening to professional opera coaches comments on him did I realize what he truly is. He has the full range of an operating upper bass range, all the way through high soprano. Not only does he have the range though, he has a full rich sound with the ability to change it on the fly, color it any way he wants it and flip from highest to lowest note and anywhere in between at will. One of the opera teachers went so far as to say it's likely the opera world hasn't seen anything like this in over a 100 years or more.

A-Studio are the band accompanying him. The keyboard player is the composer of the song. The original lead singer died in 2015 so the yodelling that Dimash performed is a Kazakh funeral dirge in honour of the lead singer who passed away.

It's DEE-mosh KOO-die-BEAR-ghen, more or less as the announcer said it. He added the -off, which shifted the accent to the GHEN syllable, but that is a leftover from a Russian style name that Dimash used to use in Russian settings when he was younger. The crazy part at the end - high belt, lift and mad runs - was over 22 seconds on one breath. The extra cool part about this performance is that the band is A-Studio, which is the group that wrote the song in 1998.

I have one suggestion. When you react to any song that Dimash covers, first react to the original performance or video of the song by its original performer, then react to Dimash's cover of it. All in one video. You should check out the original version of this song which was performed by a Russian rock band. For those who like information about Dimas' songs: Sinful Passion - The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. Igor Krutoy, the man in white shirt giving his standing ovation, invited Dimash to participate in this festival in the same year. "Sinful Passion" was created in 1998. This is how the song was performed, exactly in the 20th anniversary of this song. It speaks of greater love, greater loss, greater despair, greater desire, greater passion. What's on earth? It's Dimash. Welcome to the rabbit hole Dear Tylr. I followed Dimash for almost 2 years now and I do not see myself stopping on his music anytime soon. I flew to Kazakhstan just to watch him sing live, and trust me he is by far the most perfect live performer this planet had ever witnessed.
