research the poet and the pendulem before watching, a 5 part masterpiece on the pain of dismissing the original lead singer tarja turenen, parts 3 and 5 often bring tears, thats a cleansing floorgasm from our 6' 174 pound dutch valkyrie queen floor jansen, its actually a live musical execution symbolized, to release the pain guilt and depression tuomas was dealing with enjoy your nightwish journey

Hi there. Enjoyed you reaction to this song. If you intend to look into more Nightwish songs, do yourself a favor and also check out older songs of Nightwish with their first singer Tarja Turunen. You'll experience an equally good but stylistic different, even more operatic singer. Look for the live versions of the 2005 End of an Era concert of Nemo, Ever Dream, The Kinslayer, Phantom of the Opera, and Sleeping Sun. Or if you want to dig deeper into that band's past, check out videos of their From Wishes To Eternity concert 2000. Songs like Walking In The Air, Dead Boy's Poem (!), Deep Silent Complete, and Come Cover Me are epic. Btw, you'll also find live versions of these last three songs with their current singer Floor Jansen.

The lead voice is Floor Jansen, but I would not say it's a female led band. The actual leader of the band is the keyboard player, Tuomas Holopainen, who writes, composes and arranges the music. Floor is their third vocalist and the most versatile. She participated in a show called Beste Zangers (Best Singers) where she performed Opera in German (Vija Lied), Rock Ballad in Spanish (¿Que se siente?), musical theater (Phantom of the Opera), ballad (Shallow), and she also has a few songs with her previous band and with Nightwish where she makes the deep growl of death metal. Tuomas has made new arrangements to songs previous to Floor (like this one) and written new songs taking advantage of her impressive versatility. Marko, (who unfortunately left the band to take care of his health) is also a great singer. You can check "The Islander" at Tampere, or "While your lips are still red" at Wembley, to listen Marko in the lead vocal and Floor in the second voice. They were a great team.

I know what you mean about the solo. Like Eric Clapton, Empuu, the guitarist, is a master of 'Just the perfect amount, and not a note more', he only shreds when it's appropriate. Some of the orchestral instruments are being played by Tuomas on the 3 keyboards behind those pipes, but the entire London Symphony Orchestra is playing on a backing track. The London Metropolitan Voices choir is also helping. The genre is symphonic metal, and Nightwish does not mess around...

Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in ! Valkyrie Goddess spotted ! Gabriel Bardac entered ! Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the set list in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. And the Grandmaster of Nightwish is : Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish). Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people. The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival. We hope, that there is more coming🤘😎🤘.

Wow. Can’t believe I’m one of the first to comment. But Hi!!! From the VA First Battalion of the Nightwish Army. You should probably brace for impact! Don’t worry too much, we’re a pretty friendly and diverse bunch. Two things: 1. You should totally do the Fan Friday idea. It’ll help expose you to so much more music! But get used to longer-ish songs, especially from the metal crowd. 2. If you would like to continue your Nightwish journey in specific, shortly there will appear in your comments a man named Gabriel Bardac. He’s the unofficial General and welcome crew to all those who venture into Nightwish’s 25+ years of music. He’ll give you a list of the highlights, which you can peruse in any order. Other than that, welcome! Be prepared to get a bunch of requests for side projects of the band members as well as their spouses’ bands/ projects in some cases. It’s a great big beautiful world of Metal that’s yours for the enjoying! Cheers!

You have finally encountered *Floor Jansen*, also known as the Dutch Valkyrie Goddess of the Nightwish Army, Honored Citizen of the Amazonians, Sole Creator of all Floorgasms, Empress of Empathy & Enchantment, Top Commander of the Windmill Hurricane Society, as well as Undisputed Queen of Metal music. Here she is simply singing in English, but lyrics by Nightwish are not your typical "I love you, you love me" texts, they are a bit more eloquent. Besides that, Floor Jansen has pretty good articulation and dictation for a rock/metal singer. Next time perhaps enable the subtitles? Also, this was song #13 from 15 during this concert, so there is nothing wrong with her vocal quality and her stamina.

Glad you enjoyed it so much! I particularly liked your appreciation of Emppu's guitar solo, some people dismiss it because he's not shredding. (He _can_ shred, but only does it when appropriate - the needs of the music always come first.) Nightwish are an amazingly varied band, I suggest sticking to the first few songs from Gabriel's list to start with just to get some sense of their variety even within one concert, though the order you react to them doesn't really matter. Once you've done a few more we'll probably get a sense of what to recommend that will suit you particularly. Save the other big songs (Poet and the Pendulum, Greatest Show on Earth) for some way down the line - it's best to have a few more under your belt first. Enjoy the rabbithole!

Just drawn out words - the section you stopped at was "My Fall will be for you" Emppu, the guitarist, always crafts his guitarwork to serve the song or the melody. He shreds when it needs it or does a subdued one if it serves the music and feel of the song. This was 13th in the , they needed a short break to push for the end. :) Tuomas plays some of the orchestral parts through his keys ( you can see in the one section, him playing it), and the rest of the orchestration is backing tracks recorded in London by a Symphony.

Greetings from the Nightwish Army (Sydney, Australia Brigade). Welcome to the world of Nightwish. Doing your first Nightwish reaction is a bit like that scene from The Matrix. If you don’t do another reaction, you take the blue pill, and wake up nice and warm in your bed. However, if you do more reactions, you take the red pill and get to see just how far the Rabbit Hole actually goes. It is so much worth the journey to take the red pill and experience all that this fantastic band has to offer. You will be in good hands with many of the other posters (especially Gabriel). Just take their suggestions on board, sit back, and enjoy the ride. You will be forever changed by the experience.

Nightwish Iowa here, and welcome to Nightwish. I loved watching your reaction, you were genuine, and I am sure this entire experience took you by surprise - so it was a true blind reaction. Thank you for watching and reacting. I'm so glad you appreciate their music. It gives you chills, right? Gabrial usually gets here before me, so I'm sure he has given some other songs to react to next. You won't be disappointed.

Nightwish Army Carolina Division checking in. This is a Score so Tuomas (Keyboard player) wrote it to purposely to switch up and go just about anywhere. Being "Symphonic Metal" allows them to take their music just about anywhere and do just about anything with their songs. Some of their songs are like this one, longer, grand, epic... while they have several others that are a more traditional heavy metal style song and basically just about everything in between. They even have songs with a bit of that Celtic Rock kind of vibe. Nightwish is a Live experience for sure, and no matter what basic style of song they are going for, all their songs will have those signature symphonic elements that make the music so full and rich. Welcome, lets journey into the Nightwish rabbit hole. Stick closely with Gabriel's suggestion list and you can't go wrong.

Hi Tylr. I'm so glad you followed Martine's recommendation. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal and our Valkyrie goddess, Floor Jansen. Nightwightwish is one of those rare bands whose live performances are even better than their studio productions. You have just scratched the surface of our Nightwish rabbit hole. Every Nightwish song is so different that you will find yourself saying "This is my new favorite" over and over again. Thank you.

Hi Tylr. Always great to see someone enjoying themselves discovering Nightwish. Hundreds will contact you who have been on the same journey you are just starting (and you won't be able to stop), as you find out more about possibly the best band on the planet. Not so much a song here as a composition, which is what Tuomas Holopainen (keys) does better than anyone in the business. He is playing what you hear but over it is the London Symphony Orchestra and a choir. Nightwish are the masters of MIDI; they co-ordinate live and recorded music (and images, and recorded vocals, and pyrotechnics, and...) to a level others can only aspire to, as you will discover. Enjoy.

Hey Tyler, great reaction to this epic song! I find at least one Reactor a week discovering Nightwish for the first time, and I'll tell you - it never gets old. You really did the band justice with your excellent analysis and I'll look forward to seeing future reactions to Nightwish. Who knows, I might even check out non-Nightwish reactions. Late to the party but it's a good one! Top reaction, sir! Nightwish Army, Blue Mountains Corps, Australia. I guess Garbriel gave you a lot of info. Ghost Love Score was a great song in 2004, from the album "Once". Floor in 2013 gave it all the little extras I had only imagined and made it an even greater Opus. Martine, you did it again!

Not a piano! Keyboards!!! The heart of Nightwish. The computers and midi's are what makes all of the background music. All run by the mastermind genius of Tuomas! He is the founder of this awesome band and wrote everything! (Almost everything.) He actually let me sit with him at breakfast the morning of the Stuttgart concert!!! Didn't waste time with photos or autograph...just wanted to be his buddy for a moment. Lasted 15 minutes, but I will never forget it!!!

Nightwish Army Germany reports for Duty: Great Reaction !! I think our Queen captured another soul….:-) It never gets old to see people freeze when our Queen starts to sing…. About Ghost Love Score: Standing solid as a World Pillar around which the planet revolves, Floor hits "The Note," the crowd loses their shit, the band tears a hole in the fabric of Space-Time, and 82,000 people will never, ever be the same again. And the next one should be: Storytime from Wacken 2013 ....just saying.... Floor Jansen, First of Her Name, Queen of the Valkyries, Lady of Nightwish and Protector of our Metal Realm. Long may she reign. Bow, mortal !
