Like he said in the video, it starts in that major key and sounds like the pleasant backdrop to someone doing normal, mundane tasks, but then the shift happens and suddenly it sounds *dangerous*. not in the sense that something has changed or that a new threat has been introduced, but in the way like a shroud has been pulled back and you're forced to acknowledge the danger has been there all along. just like engie

Amazing video, you really nailed the vibe of those songs. So why "more gun" turns sinister is because the engineer (that song is his theme) while being a southern gentleman is still a stone cold killer. You got the vibe for each song pretty much perfectly for every one. Each one is from one of the classes' "Meet the Team" videos, where you're introduced to the class's playstyle and general personality. Drunken Pipe Bomb plays during the action sequences of Demoman's "Meet the Team" video. He's a laughing, drunken, Scottish (not Irish, but close enough) explosive class, lobbing bombs around and laying Stickybomb traps. But he's also more tactical than you'd think. The crescendo happens when he leads the enemy team into a big sticky trap he's laid out, and gives a taunting salute as they all blow up. Right Behind You is from the Spy's "Meet the Team" video. That one is more of a horror/thriller style (with plenty of humor, of course,) cutting back and forth between the enemy Spy sneaking through the base eliminating people one by one, and the remaining team members guarding the intelligence briefcase, deliberating over how to deal with the enemy Spy (and killing their allied Spy out of paranoia,) before the big reveal that one of them _was_ the enemy Spy the entire time. More Gun is from Engineer's "Meet the Team" video. It opens with him strumming his guitar, sitting in front of a fire, casually talking to the viewer about what being an Engie means, while gunfire periodically interjects. The threatening tone change happens when the camera pans out, revealing the many different automated Sentry Guns all around him, gunning down enemies trying to approach. So you weren't completely off the mark with the Western gun draw thing.

I kind of adore that both the medic and engineer essentially have two halves each to their theme music, where the first half is all quaint and unassuming and then the second half hits the most intense spike in tone imaginable. The same way medic and engie themselves are kind of quaint, cute, unintimidating classes in-game until given time to fully set up the tools that make them truly scary, i.e medic's ubercharge and engie's level 3 buildings. Music tying to the game design in little ways like that is just so rad.

I've seen this video so many times and i still enjoy the parts of your violin. Especially the right behind you one with the violin. I can imagine having a choir as extra singing dies irae

Almost every single song you've listened to is from the "Meet The" character animations valve made for every character. For "Right Behind You" plays during "Meet The Spy" and is honestly my favorite one just because of this song lining up so well with the animation.

You really can't put the TF2 soundtrack behind you without listening & reacting to The Calm. It's one of those songs that starts out with a strong theme and then does a 90 degree turn into something very different. It's one of my favourite songs on the album.

These are very unique reactions man, one of my favourite parts is the analisis of each song, comparing the songs with the knowledge you have about music like in here with all of the minimalist style of composition. It gives so much more to these types of videos that someone knows what they are talking about

Love that you're checking out TF2's soundtrack, the songs totally bang. There is another game series that I love as well that also has a killer and banging soundtrack, and it's the Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku series (as well as its spinoffs Judgment, Lost Judgment etc.). It's unreal how each game in the series and its spinoffs has a phenomenal soundtrack and I'd love for you to give them a listen.

When you're finished with the soundtrack, would you do a reaction of all the Meet the Team videos? It'd be nice to watch you hear how the songs are used, and see the characters and scenarios the music was composed for.

"Hey look buddy, I'm an engineer. That means I solve problems, not problems like "What is beauty?" Because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems, for instance: how am I going to stop some mean mother Hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new be-hind? The answer, use a gun, and if that don't work... Use more gun. Take for instance this heavy caliber tripod mounted lil' old number designed by me, built by me, and you best hope... it's not pointed at you."

The violin alongside Right Behind You was absolutely perfect. You totally nailed the feel of the song, and your addition to the song was incredibly fitting whilst not falling into the pitfall of other covers where they end up taking the focus from the original song. Your version added the perfect, terrifying element and complimented the original piece wonderfully. Sent chills down my spine. It's been 12 years since I first played TF2 and that brought me back to the first time I ever heard that song all those years ago, the tension and suspense that song brings. TF2 has one of the best, if not the best, soundtracks in all of gaming.

I still love that the music captures the character’s personalities so well that even someone who’s never heard of or seen TF2 would probably be able to immediately understand what they’re like by just listening to their theme songs Side note: if you haven’t already, can you please try reacting to some Touhou songs or even the remixes since some of them are as good if not better than the originals
