To bad that you don't told about accenting more important lead notes by very short pitch bending attack by 12 and 6 semitones to make them more stand out in the mix. It's Brooks' killer feature. ;) Fast turning off and on reverb plugin on start of every note in melody to reset reverb sound and make it more clear is good tip fom KSHMR.

A lot of this stuff applies when you're doing other styles of music. The layers thing works great with orchestral stuff (oboes sound terrible by themselves, but they're really nice when you layer them with clarinets and horns)

There's one thing I really want to know: on some of the audio clips such as kicks, rides or vocals, I often see arcs on both ends of them. I assume it is something to do with stereo, but I was not pretty sure where to find it and what it does. Is it cross-fade? Where can I find this option and what effects does it have? Thx for answers from anyone who knows about it!

Also you forgot to mention a gold tip of KSHMR saying that when you got a lot of sounds and you want to make stand out one more in some desired frequencies, insert Trackspacer on your master synth bus and sidechained the sound you want to stand out to this track. I used it a lot with vocals.

Hey mate, thanks for the tips! I already knew a lot of these, but it is very hard for me to apply some of them. My biggest problem is to layer sounds that sound good together. I dont know how to approach it: Which sound should I choose first? Why is it good to layer a Pluck/Flute/... on top of it? How to process them correctly? How do you mix them? Do you mix them one by one or do you mix them after you have chosen all your layers? I guess this is one of the hardest parts to learn and master as a producer.. I watch a lot of YT videos to improve my sounds, but I havent really seen a good video which talks about these topics in detail.
@CarnivoreIntelligence4 жыл бұрын
Number one is to write your song. Then when you layer your sounds it essential to use different frequencies for the same sound. You have a bass that only play in the lower register and a bass that plays in the higher register. That makes layering easier.
