Excellent performance by Elvis. I saw him sing this in person quite a few times and loved the beginning where you could only see the back of his collar. One Night when he turned around he had a gorilla mask on!! We were all shocked, but thankfully he took it off pretty fast! He had such a great sense of humor. He was the best of the best.❤❤❤

Thanks for your great reaction. Another great cover is "Rollin on the River". You are right Elvis makes it his own. Nobody works as hard as he does in a song, whether it's gospel of opera. Thanks I subbed

Some recommendations: (1) the water throwing incident 1972 Hampton Roads, Virginia when at the very, very start of the video Elvis called out “Please Release Me” but the band began playing “I Can’t Stop Loving You” - he didn’t stop them, he went right into the song, he then walked over to his glass of water, picked it up & playfully threw it at Glen @ piano -- a fun, energetic, powerhouse kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn_XgWh9mZ2Efac -- just make sure you hear him say Please Release Me & then the water incident will make sense; also note his little irritated look @ beginning. (2) from his '68 special stand-up segment -- "Blue Suede Shoes from sitting to center stage w-a cute finish in all his gorgeousness kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5yYfHiYnp2Bl8U & ""Jailhouse Rock" kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmixZ4SXZalqgbs; since both of them are quite short, you could do one & follow it w-the other because together they total just 4 min. This is Elvis unleashed, doing what he did best. As per Steve Binder, producer-director of the '68 special Elvis was severely nervous & he told Binder he didn't remember any of the songs, didn't know the lyrics & he wasn't going out. Binder said i don't care if you walk out, just say hello & walk off, but you are going out. And out he came. Thx for your reaction & consideration. You are enjoyable to watch & listen to.

Did you pick up that little flub of lyrics he made at about 3:06 --& the little smile he gave over to his backup singers because they all knew. He was very nervous about forgetting the words to this song -- he said so when he was backstage prior to going on stage. But he was a master at making little flubs occasionally & riding right through as if nothing happened. He did it on Jailhouse Rock (that i recommended below) & gave a little laugh to himself. I don't think there was a song that Elvis covered that he did not make his own. Once he did it, that was it -- it was his. Thanks again.
