You don't define M. Ward by his association with She & Him. I know Zoey Deschanel is more well known, but as a musician she ain't no M.Ward. It would be better to describe him as one quarter of the super group Monsters of Folk. He's actually one of my favorite artists. I saw him for the first time opening for some other band I had never heard of at the Troubadour in early 2002. I was sitting at the bar with my back to the stage enjoying a drink when I heard a song that sounded immediately familiar but at the same time strange but good. I turned around and as I listened I eventually realized he was covering David Bowie's "Let's Dance". It was such a unique take that even when I knew what it was I still thought it was a different song. I listened to the 3 piece band and enjoyed the rest of the set of all songs I'd never heard. When the headliners came on I was not impressed so I went to the bar in the front room and found M. Ward with his band mates standing alone hawking CDs and t-shirts, etc. I really wish I was back into collecting vinyl then (I did as a kid but didn't get back into it until 2005), but I did buy every CD he had (1 Live recorded in France, and his first two solo albums). I talked with them for a while because I don't think many other people came out to buy his stuff. That seemed crazy to me because I instantly loved his unique sound. I got him and his mates to sign the CDs. Since then I've gone to see him anytime he was playing in LA. I drove to San Diego when he was touring for Transistor Radio and I did get him to sign a copy of that album on vinyl. He was still manning the merch table by himself at that point if you can believe it.I saw him with my then GF at LA city college shortly after that and he had a female singer come on stage to do a couple of songs. I had no idea who Zoey Deschanel was at the time, but my GF new her and she was excited. This was still a couple years before the first S&H album. I also went up to Portland a couple times just to see him live. Those where much bigger shows. And one time when I was on Oahu I saw a flyer with him doing a show there that I had no idea about. Unfortunately the show was a day after our flight back to LA. Oh well. I've gotten to see him plenty live but it would have been cool to go to Oahu and just happen to catch an M. Ward show. Loved all your other stuff. Nice collection. Did you get the 10" Astral Weeks form RSD a couple years ago? I wanted to get that but wasn't able to.

Wow! Thank you for that story. And yes, he is probably best known for his Him to the She. I do love those records. But yes, Monsters of folk is amazing. I do own that record. I used to play that a lot when it first came out. I should pull it out and give it a spin. I’m not a big fan of Jim James but I like him on that record. M. Ward is such an underrated guitar player. You know his music much more than I. I only have some cds. And still need to grab his stuff on vinyl. Thanks for the comment and the story. Loved it. Cheers, ☘️

Dude,I love it! What you need is a good record cleaning machine- especially when you have so many records. I started out with a SpinClean, which is a fantastic record cleaning device, I had a Record Doctor machine, and now a VPI 16.5 machine which I’ve been using for many years now. Lastly, I just bought an ultrasonic cleaner which I plan on using in conjunction with my VPI. Anyways, that’s how I do it. May seem like overkill, but deep cleaning makes a huge difference. Anyways, my two cents. Happy spinning!

Hey Brian! WOW! Thank You for the fantastic presentation of "Music Room Tour!" I hope that you can get your PIONEER receiver repaired...it is a CLASSIC! Nice MARANTZ speakers..I would flip the RIGHT speaker on it's other side, so that the BASS speaker is the outer-most speaker, like the LEFT one. Maybe I'm being too picky, you could maybe also take off the speaker grills and turn that little MARANTZ logo plate around so that it's facing horizontally. I'm very happy that you have been providing us with some great content lately, because there was quite a long spell where you had basically left the VC! Please don't make yourself a stranger, as you have one of the most entertaining and informative VC channels! Thank You, again for another fantastic presentation from Shamrockin' Records! That’s an amazing room you have there. Black Joe Lewis was booked to play a festival last May a block from my house. You can guess what happened with that. I think I caught glimpse of a Those Darlins album in your “new” box, which I love (just so you know people are paying attention).

Is it the double live CD? I had him sign the same cd. Hahaha I highly recommend the RT 85. I researched for a very long time before I bought it. It had everything that I wanted for the price point I was comfortable with. It’s made my records sound amazing. I’ve heard things that I hadn’t heard before. I’ll check out your channel.
