Music Sharing on Two Sena SMH10 Headsets

This is a guide on how to use the Music Sharing feature on two Sena SMH10 headsets.

my friend and I got the dual package and we just received it today. Used it immediately out in a 3-4 hour ride and we were basically just non-stop chatting throughout the entire ride. It's so awesome! Gone are the days where you could only get a few words in at stop lights and gone are the times where confusion would ensue due to not knowing which turns to go on.

It worked!!!!!! I’m using Sena 10 and it won’t work before I update my software, you have to go to Sena website, download updating program and just follow that, Now both of my Sena can share music! Make sure you’re up to new version, that’s the only way it’ll work!

Thanks for the video but just one question please - so as I understand, if both headsets are sharing music, you can't talk to each other unless you press the button to open the intercom channel? If that's the case, that kinda sucks. Ideally all channels should be open so you can both listen to music and when one of you talks the music gets muted and then comes back when talking stops. This is how it works on my old wired Autocom system.

Can you only share music through Bluetooth . I have an ipod and wanted to share that music with my riding partner. I'm using the ipod jack on the sena. Does this mean I can only listen to the ipod music and have to go buy a new I pod with blue tooth.

Tried this method ytd, it works alright for a white but sometimes our helmet bumps and it snaps the smh10 out of the music sharing back to intercom, I have VOX turned off, any thoughts here?

Hi, I can configure both headsets to hear music, but when I want both headsets to hear SmartPhone GPS turn by turn ONLY I cannot. Music plays and turn by turn on Google Maps plays over it. I can only get the Google Maps to play solely on one headset. Is there something else I should be doing OR is this function unavailable whilst on dual. ?

I know I’m very late to the party but just got a second smh 10 and when music is being shared between two headsets the music breaks up a lot and sounds like a scratched up CD. Please advise.

does this stream phone calls to both or just the main one? If I have a passenger I want them to hear the music but not the phone call.

I contact sena with that question. I was explained that the one that is pair with the phone will be the only one in the phone call. When you answer the call the intercom communication/music is disconnected while you talk.

If you receive a phone call, can you add your passenger (via intercom) to the call so your caller, your passenger (or another rider with a sena) and you can talk all three together? SMH10R. Thanks.

Yes, please check the section in the User's Guide titled Intercom and Mobile Phone Call for the instructions on how to do that..

hi, i have a problem with music sharing. i have 2 smh5 for me and my girlfirend. both smh5 are on the same firmware and are connected togheter. intercom talking is fine, but when we utilise the music sharing feature the music gets interrupted al the time. please help :)

Can you pair the two together for intercom but only the drivers listen to music not the passenger

yes, pair Drive A to Driver B first. After you are in intercom mode, press the Jog dial/center button for 3 seconds to play music and the extra second to begin sharing with your intercom friend.

Sena my wife seldom listens to music, she wants to just use the intercom part. I want to stay connected with her but like the music when we are not talking at the time.

Oh yes of course. You can pair with your phone or music device, and connect to her over intercom. Then tap the jog dial/center button to switch to device mode of any 10 series sena, and if needed Hold the button for 2 seconds to play/pause the music. Then if you wish to speak with her tap the center button to jump back into intercom. She can do the same to you to jump over and speak with you. -Alyssa

hey i use a sena smh 10, one of the contact pin on device is kinda lose now (dropped my lid). now the audio on the right ear piece kinda distorts (as if a there is a wire problem) is it okay if i fix it with a glue gun? would it damage it more..

Thanks for the quick reply. So can we change between the settings on a SMH5 or SMH10 so that at some points we talk to one another (my pillion and I) and then others we listen to music? I understand that we can't start talking and the music will pause.

***** From what I can tell nearly 6 months later this feature still does not work as of V5.1.1 on SMH10 and V1.3 on 20S.. I am happy to stand corrected but I cannot get this to work.. Share between 2 SMH10s fine... Share from 20s to SMH10 or vice versa is a complete fail...Is there a different procedure or confirmed still not to be working... ?

***** Hmmm so the SENA post above of 6 months ago indicating that this will be completed by the next firmware update has ballooned somewhat or has changed to only just possible? I own 6 SMH10s and bought the 20S for all the new great features however I am not in the position financially to change out my other 6 sets.. That would be a $2500 AUD exercise.. There is no real indicator in the manual (or from my dealer) that backwards compatibility was going to be an issue with certain functions.. So much for latest greatest.. :(

I am having a hard time with this. Followed all the directions and even connected both devices to check the software. It says I have 5.1.1 on both devices and no window pops up to have me install any new firmware. Still, only one device will play music. Please help

It's a pain in the ass.......SENA are you listening? Go to the video and cue up music sharing with SHM 10. It will walk you through it and you have to do it every time you power up the headsets. start the video at 2:37 (step 5) where you pair the 2 headsets together, you have to do this even though the headsets may already be paired for intercom. Follow the directions to the end , make sure you take the step that states you must hear 2 rapid quiet beeps and you will get music in both headsets. Write it down cause there is no explanation in the quick guide sent in the box and the owners manual is useless. VERY inconvenient on the road.

and my question.....are we RIDING FELLAS OR NOT.. sorry, but too much complexity. i have 2 sena 10C evo . if i need too many procedures just for my music... what can i say!!! , thank you SENA for saving my fuels..... ONCE AGAIN TOO MUCH COMPLEXITY, imagine if i want to combine all of my devices ( GARMIN GPS , PHONE , MUSIC / RADIO and communication) then we should better stay home. i just spent 179 dollars each for Bell 9 helmets, then 300 dollars for a dual smh10 kit for the mag 9 helmets.. so, with tax... you do the match... yeah... 800 dollars... and it takes 5 minutes to pair them both to music... IF.. and only if you remember this elaborate set of steps, and dont screw it up... OMG... please tell me there is an easier way to use this product... I am so mad right now...
