I quit band in seventh grade, but I remember it well, and this video is so nostalgic. The parts with saying to tiptoe over the cases and with the brass blasting were most memorable, not gonna lie. I played in brass, and my eardrums would be lucky if they weren’t bleeding at the end of the lesson because I was right near the tubas just trying to quietly play my euphonium.

I'm an orchestra geek, but this is still very relatable with picking the right stand, coming up with excuses, leaving the cases sprawled out everywhere, blaming the instrument for our lack of practice, etc. Lol the bathroom one is definitely true, though the conductor's I had were strict and told people to either wait after reversing a song or until someone else is done going.

Ok this reminds me of 6th grade. We were playing a Chinese song, and one of our saxs (I’m a clarinet btw) said “it sounds like a Chinese song” the whole class just erupted in laughter, myself included. We still tease him about it to this day, and it’s been two years. 😂 And the time in 7th grade a different band director had to teach my class bc our band director wasn’t here, actually played this electric piano to how he felt. It isn’t the best thinking about this when your playing something Samba Le Le. 🤣🤣

Ok I have a question I want to ask my director if I can play bass clarinet. But I asked for a French horn earlier in the year and I got one (it’s now my main instrument) then I play trumpet in jazz band. So if I got a bass clarinet I would have 3 instruments. And she never really says no but kind of blows me off. And I feel like I’m making her annoyed (she’s a really calm and nice teacher) anyway I just don’t know how to ask her. I would like your advice like should I make a deal with her for example if I want one at the end of the month still I can try it. (That might work). Idk what do u think is a good way to ask her or convince her.
@SchoolBandOrchestra Жыл бұрын
Is regular Clarinet an instrument you have already played? If not, I would wait until the end of the school year then ask I you can practice Bass Clarinet over the summer. Otherwise it is a question of whether she needs Bass Clarinet more than French Horn.
