Thanks for picking out some of the details that make this so good. Maidiacs are always frustrated that Kanami does such short solos, but this song gives us TWO and they're both longer than usual for her. Every member of the band is essential to their sound.

Saiki's breath control is insane. This song, and it's rapid vocal style, is fairly common for BAND-MAID. It always makes me happy when Saiki gets some love in a reaction video. 👍 MISA! MISA! MISA! That was a nice little run from MISA, but you haven't seen anything, yet! Seriously. Akane! She is a speedy little gorilla on the drum set. Jimmy Page took immediate notice of her when he saw them play at an awards show, and asked if he could go back stage and meet her. And that was, like, 5-6 years ago. She's only improved since then!

Actually, if you concentrate on the bass in this song. MISA is working quite hard. And there is a mix between deep bass walking and some slapping thais quite adorable.

Band Maid is awesome, thank you for your reaction. As a Bassist thanks for the special attention to Akane’s drum work and Misa’s Bass lines, there are one of the best rhythm sections out there.

Interesting observation as a drummer. The first few times I heard her I thought she was a little busy for my speed, but then having watched this, listened the studio track and seen various fan cams, it hit me that Akane plays those fills EXACTLY the same every night! Then I hear she typically plots out every stick she plays in a song.

You have so much to discover Sensei. From ballads like Daydreaming and Anemone to harder Black hole and No God. Instead of playing anything simple they play everything filled with little surprises and complexities to thrill the ears. Moratorium, Dice, Matchless Gum... so many more...

All of them are top notch at what they do. Akane is probably the best drummer i've heard, Misa the best bas, Kanami is a fantastic guitarist and composter. Saiki's voice is perfect. It's just right for me. And then Miku makes awesome lyrics and supports the band in many many ways.

That little bass bit in the bridge from the solos to the final chorus is what sold me on this group. Like you said, it's not hard but it is really inventive.

This was the song that got me to stop the movie in the middle of it, shazam it to find this random Japanese band and song and listen to it literally 3 times straight on spotify before going back to the movie, then finishing the movie and go right back to spotify and listen to it 3 or 4 more times. It's super catchy vocal melody, a super catchy pop-rock sound straight from the mid-00's and unlike all the songs from most of the last 25-30 years, this song has a real, bona fide shredding solo? I discovered the perfect pop-rock song. It took me back to my late highschool and college days and yet did everything I loved about those songs but did it way better because they could actually shred. After that, I let spotify play the next song it queued up which was Thrill and less than 30 seconds into the song I legitimately declared, "This is the best band of the decade." This was before I had ever seen a picture or knew about the maid outfits (a bit of a shock. "Bands this good don't dress up as a joke. Is this real?" lol). I've since revised that to "best band this century" and I legitimately don't know that Choose Me actually cracks my top 20 and Thrill probably not top 30 favorite Band-Maid tracks. You've only scratched the surface, friend.😊

BAND-MAID songs are always surprising, and fresh yet familiar. If see you've done 'Domination' LIVE. Most would go to 'Freedom' LIVE for the drum solo, but I'm going to guggest 'Real Existence' LIVE as well. It's a show stopper! Also 'Blooming' has some great tapping. But don't forget their instrumentals especially, Without Holding Back'. They can be found on the Instrumental Maid channel.

Band-Maid was in the Netflix movie "Kate" they played "Choose Me" on stage =) They also used their song "Blooming" MV during the car chase ! I love Choose Me but Blooming is next level ! Thanks Nice Reaction =)

Yup, with Band-Maid you get the whole package and not just something half-baked. No matter if vocals, guitar, bass or drums. All or nothing! You just got Assassinated by the Barefoot Assassin. She is a sneaky one. Youre concentrating on someone else and she pulls in and murders you with what she is doing. I have seen her tap like Kamami does sometime. Ive NEVER seen a bassist tapping. If you wnat more bass MISA heavy, i would recommend, Sense or Influencer.

Nice reaction. As a true Madiac trust me when I say none of us forgets about Kanami, the lead guitarist. 😊 There are several songs where Misa, the bassist, provides a counterpoint line like in this song. She and Akane, the drummer, studied at the Tokyo School of Music.

3:20 - The studio version of Choose me has a more emphasized "pre-chorus" and drum fills like you mentioned. Definitely worth a reaction to the studio version as well. BAND-MAID also played this song in the Netflix assassin movie, Kate (2021) if you want to see their cinematic cameo.

2:20 wait till you check out 'cross'. 4:58 and then there's 'blooming'. 5:39 was wanting to say check her dynamics in 'manners' and 'warning', but yeah, twin tails' unison/fifth/octave below in 'choose me' are enough of a testament to her capacity as support vocals. still, the songs i've mentioned are worth checking out. 5:57 hold your judgement until you get to 'shambles' and 'sense'. 7:08 if that's already on point, not sure how you'll see her in 'from now on'. 8:35 'i still seek revenge' has the barefoot assassin's dna all over. peer closely at her style and approach and you will realize how rare she is.

: "Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic. Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are, along with The Warning band, almost single-handedly bringing back the joys and soulfulness of rock for people from all places and ages to hear. You should listen to "Freedom" if you want to hear Akane play a full drum solo. She's great in "Alone" as well (they all are in every song, but the drums are the main reason I keep coming back to that song). And MISA has a decent amount of bass solo's, but she usually has at least a feature in almost every song.

Nice reaction to a great band. If you are interested in hearing a song of theirs that pulls the pieces apart a little better, in order to do cleaner analysis, check out Manners with Black Hole in concert. Features each instrument a little more isolated (particularly Manners), and my favorite of theirs.
