One of my favorite parts about this are the occasional cutaway shots of Marko. He is just watching her, like he's at the show. (Well, he is, but you know what I mean.) You don't often see that on stage. Mutual interaction, yes, but close observation...Most performers are so focused on their part that they don't take time for just the joy of appreciation. I like to imagine he was thinking: "We sound good, and she is killing this!"

I agree, and as Marko and Floor already sang together occasionally long before she joined NW, it is likely that it was Marko who came with the idea of calling Floor during the Denver debacle. So her performance confirms that his advice was the right one.

I don't think you're going to find anyone who's upset about you going back. I'm watching because I love Nightwish and get a dopamine hit when a reactor is as much in love with the song as I am. And you have something intelligent to say that just adds to my appreciation of the song and the band. Excellent reaction.

My favorite Nightwish song and performance. This is the one that made me fall in love with Floor's voice and tone, and Nightwish as a whole. One of my favorite chorus ever written and that middle section with Floor's classical/operatic part is unbelievable. Then of course she finishes it with those belts at the end. I love this song.

It's not my absolute favorite (though I do love it), but it would be my first choice to introduce someone to Nightwish. It has all the epic Nightwishy elements, while still being very accessible and catchy as hell. I don't think I've seen any reactor not love this performance, because it has something for everyone.

No need to apologize for going back and listening again.😊🤘 Anette era song from 2011's Imaginaerum album. The operatic part was done with a choir in the studio version, as they aren't Anette's forte. Floor can do them with no problem, and took over those parts herself. Tuomas has said that the song is inspired by the 1982 film, The Snowman. he loves stories, and your hear the lyrics include Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. The entire album has themes of imagination and fantasy. Agree, love Jukka's tom work in that buildup. And the stick twirl just before it.😁

As you say, a stunning piece of composition. Written originally for Annette, the second singer, so that’s why it has more of a “pop” vibe. Who else but Thuomas could put a children’s choir, orchestration and an operatic breakdown into a song and still make it sound awesome. Thanks for a thoughtful and well dissected reaction.

This is our Valkyrie Goddess for you. And you witnessed first hand her legendary "Dutch Windmill" , and to finish you off, The Operatic "Cruise Missile" !!!! Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch. Awesome tune , although it is kind of a popish sound (originally sung by Anette, the second singer of Nightwish), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Including this "Operatic" part, what was originally done by children's choir because vocal limitations on their second singer (Great singer also, I might add), but Floor has none of that "Limit". Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straight forward" as many other bands, because Tuomas prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

I just love seeing someone enjoying music this way as you do. Breaking down exactly what does move you the most. There's a long way ahead with Nightwish for sure to experience, none of their songs are the "same". I do recomment having subtitles on for The Greatest Show On Earth and The Poet And The Pendulum, it'll elevate your experience a lot more. For The Poet And The Pendulum I'd even recommend doing slight research into what brought that piece into being to get the whole experience. If not before your reaction then at least after.

Firstly, I love the that you pause the video to talk and then rewind to hear sections. It’s my favourite way that reactors use. Your knowledgeable input and analysis is more than welcome. For the non-musicians here Tuomas has 3 keyboards, usually, and is playing the instruments like Piano, music-box (I’ll explain more) and some of the orchestral and/or choir parts. In many of their songs there are far too many layers (I’m glad you referred to layering) for him to play all of it so the extra parts are backing tracks. Tuomas has worked with the London Symphony Orchestra to record instrumental parts and an actual choir for the vocal parts and that’s why they sound so good. I’m a composer and at my computer I use the BBC Orchestra to record my orchestral parts. I mainly combine orchestra with world folk instruments combined to create my works. Also I utilize layering in quite a lot of my compositions. Going back to what instrument Tuomas is using the closest sound I’ve been able to get is a music box or toy piano, or the combination of both. Thank you for indulging my long explanation. 😊 I’d love to do a deep dive analysis of Nightwish pieces with you.😊 One additional notes, I love watching Jukka, the drummer, in this song. He’s one of my favourite drummers both in what he plays and the energy when is playing.

I think it's pretty much standard for Tuomas that when he brings back something again, there's something different in it, either new layers or something done with different instrument than last time. Same goes for Sleep Token. Good composers are good.

Consider that originally, there was no such vocals in the section you refer to. It was synth fills. But then came Floor who told Tuomas that she could sing it. So now it sounds like this. And the world is better for it.

This is a song that really shows that Floor was meant to be with Nightwish. Tarja would knock the operatic section out of the park but the rest wouldn’t sound as good because it has more of a pop wibe to it. Annette obviously sounds great singing this song as it is written with her voice in mind. But the operatic section was a choir that played on the backing track. Floor sounds even better than Annette and can do the operatic section as good as Tarja would. She is simply a vocal swiss army knife and that is what this band needs because of Tuomas’s writing. He knows no bounds and with Floor on board he know that if he can write it she can sing it, no matter what.

As others have called out this is from the 2011 Imaginarium project. Check out the official video they released ahead of the album which captures, in my opinion, the spirit of the song. Earlier referenced "Snowman" movie inspired for sure, the clips composing the official video are from the movie Nightwish filmed (yes, they did a movie). From what I understand, they worked with the same person who did the original "Islander" official video. The movie was, for me, amazing as it combined a lot of elements with an unpredictable story line (dark, not for children). In sum, the whole thing helped me understand the complexity of this song better.

I am enjoying you enjoying Nightwish. Another great reaction! I do not think it is possible for Tuomas to write a bad piece of music. Add Floor to the mix and it is even less likely. Lots of recommendations in the comments already, but for a truly incredible composition I would recommend The Poet And The Pendulum. You might want to research the backstory behind the song first, to get more of a feel for what it is about. But since the music is what you concentrate on, that is not absolutely necessary.
