Yep, lol. Reminds me also of those vids from their EP days where they were performing in some venue (I think it was for their first show) but Jon couldn’t because he was sick or something, so they just grabbed Drew Winter (the then lead vocalist of Conducting from the Grave) and told him to just scream along to the song, even when he didn’t know the lyrics.

Your Strawberry's Wake reaction is what got me hooked to your channel. I'm been a HUGE DGD fan for while. You should check out some of Tilian's solo stuff as well, Hold On would be a cool one to see you react to. Also, check out Blue Dream by DGD as this one was sung when Johnny Craig was the clean vocals (prior to Tilian). Great song that shows off Johnny well. Awful human, incredible vocalist.

Hey David! I'm glad you came back around to DGD. I think Prisoner was a really great choice and it's one of my favourite tracks from them recently. They've been kind of mysterous about the origin of their band name, and all I recall for certain is that an old lead singer of theirs named Johnny Craig came up with the name. As for how long they've been together, the original iteration of the band was formed in 2005. Jon Mess, Will Swan, and Matt Mingus are all still around from those days but there has been some shuffling around with vocalists and bass players over the years. I think this is the best the band has ever been, for sure. If you do decide to get around to Alexisonfire at some point (might be a bit of a pipedream, I know), they have a live version of one of their songs at a pro-shot venue called House of Strombo which is a pretty big deal up here in Canada. They finished that show out with a partial cover of "When Doves Cry" by Prince if that is something that might interest you :)
@AGray213 жыл бұрын
You might also find that show interesting just because of the phenomenal quality of the mix as well

So nobody really knows where the name comes from. They kind of have this lore that an ex member had a turtle named Gavin, but I think they said it was false. im not a music teacher or anything but I will agree, the way dgd groups together and plays is just insane. All the dynamics and just harmonizing with everything they use in their songs is so perfect and original. But I was only introduced to them like 2 months ago and I already love all their songs. They all seem to just be in sync and know their part in songs, they make it seem like it should be illegal to play this good. *I feel the passion radiating*
@studdly2323 жыл бұрын
The best part of dgd is that nothing they do goes together but some how they blend it so amazingly. Punk, pop, funk, jazz, rock, highs, lows, cleans, screams . They have the ability to litterally do any sound and make it work and no other band has anything close to that blend atleast none i have found. The sound, the look and the music videos. They all blend in everything so well it just works.
