RIP Adam Wade. I remember watching this game show as a little girl. I saw that he passed away on FB. I enjoyed him on Good Times as a love interest to neighbor Williona.

I used to love this show. My memory is saying that on earlier episodes they had fewer guests - I remember the Tokens being on a lot - and I think they originally sang the whole theme song at the beginning of the show. On this episode, they sing some of it under the end credits.

Did you know a CBS affiliate station in Alabama refused to air this show because the host was Afro-American?
@costamesaresident7 жыл бұрын
I was living in New York at that time and was visiting my relatives in Los Angeles when I was watching this show in 1975. I remember when one of my relatives walked into the living room and saw me watching this show and said "Huh? The host is a black guy???" Shows how dense we were back then! However I will concede that it was very unheard of that an African-American would host a game show.
@juliusfreeman85795 жыл бұрын
No one was dense. The shock was due to the fact that Adam Wade was the first Black game show host.

I had to check out this show after seeing an episode of Tattletales on BuzzR that concluded with “Stay tuned for Musical Chairs on most of these CBS stations” Shame they didn’t get to the bonus round in this episode :-(
@marcpower41672 жыл бұрын
A couple more episodes have surfaced, not much to the bonus round: the contestant had 20 seconds to put ten parts of the lyrics to a popular song in the right order at $100 a pop or $2,000 if they got all 10.

That show debuted on June 16, 1975 till October 31, 1975. I saw The Tokens (who became Cross Country in 1973 & the 1965 Wilson Pickett song "In The Midnight Hour") perform "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" on that show. I was 10 years old in 1975. My late grandmother hated that show because she told me that the old game show (July till September of 1955 on NBC) was better!!

Fun fact-- the returning contestant in this episode, Gerri, later became host Adam Wade's wife. And IINM, the two are still married.
@gameshowfreak20077 жыл бұрын
I'm not so sure about that. His wife has the same name but I think they spell it differently. But he did meet her on the show.
@WaltGekko4 жыл бұрын
@@gameshowfreak2007 His still-current wife (whom he married in 1989) spells her name Jerre. He's now 85 and still with us as of when this was written. I can definitely see where the confusion is if it's someone other than the contestant in this particular game.
@der226724 жыл бұрын
Andrew Schroy, Not sure how you came to that conclusion since Adam's wife spells her first name "Jeree". The contestant spells her name "Gerri". And besides the announcer said that she was a homemaker meaning that she was probably already married.
