As an avid fan of this amazing artist, and one who understands everyone has an opinion, I won't go into the areas I disagree with. It's your channel. It's how you feel, there's no right or wrong in that. I agree on the overall sentiment that she is incredible, and with a fighting chance in this unforgiving industry she could really bring something wonderful to the world, she's already brought so much to many of us. I wanted to mention something not obvious in this video. There's a crap load of pressure on her here. This was a press con for the 3rd leg of her concert tour. Unseen are two media teams going live ,one from Dubai another from Outer Manila, plus hundreds outside the bus, over 1k people on the live stream, in addition to it being broadcast over the Philippines live on Radio. This was sung after a big live interview and two other demanding songs. Grace under pressure in effect! I believe the sky is the limit for her.

Thank you so much for this comment and backstory Terri. When you have time, I'd love to hear what areas you disagree with. Criticism from her fans doesn't phase me. @@MarcDanielPatrick This may be a first lol. I'm so reluctant to say anything, because you really were so supportive of her as an artist overall. It was very much an opinion statement so not really something to argue. It was the "Less is More" with her sentiment. Just to give some background ,my parents are from the South ,I'm African American so I spent a ton of time in Southern Churches, with Gospel Choirs, and soloists with amazing voices, yet I have to be real "doin the most" may have been invented in those spaces.. Fast forward even now, I'm often perusing vocal page after vocal page where "hollerating " while riffing and running is the order of the day. Given that personal bar for me, when I hear "less is more" applied to Morissette, I wonder where the bar is , (like on a scale from Nora Jones to Patti LaBelle all respect to Ms Patti). Morissette for me personally is not a less is more vocalist. Mind you I'm coming from having possibly seen every performance available , and twice live. Her overall body of work doesn't put me in that headspace with her. That was the main area. Again it was an opinion so I didn't want to get bogged down in it, and detract from a great talk through! Looking forward to more of your content!

She gets flak from “smiling” often when singing from classical music teachers. But ive noticed she often sings when going up her passages and mixing with a lifted soft palate, lifted zygomatic arches where she seems like shes smiling lol Shes a very gifted vocalist and a well rounded singer that can invoke emotions whenever she needs to.

I'm a Filipino and I can see why many people here and outside PH like her and her style. Although the theater kid inside me isn't really into *all* of her songs (I like maybe a handful), inarguably she's a really good and talented singer for her genre and young age. I also never really heard any rumours of bad attitude. I'm not sure, but I've heard her only theater background was Camp Rock, which is also Pop Rock, so she's not given a huge chance to be formally exposed to the kind of 'performances' we're inclined to perform, listen or watch. What I like is she keeps exploring that genre on her own. Since the pandemic, she did many covers of the songs we're used to hearing (She Used to be Mine, Defying Gravity), and she sang those songs brilliantly and respectfully. I can see that she has the voice, a great personality, excellence in her work and good attitude. She'd go places, and if she would star in a theater play here, I'd definitely go and watch.

As a foreign Morissette fan, I like to observe coach reactions mainly to corroborate those technical and performance details that an artist handles as part of that style that makes them unique. It is obvious that each person has personal biases of how they would like a song to be interpreted and for what some are exceptional in an artist for others it is not so. All those opinions are respected and it is appreciated that the coaches take the time to provide their analysis from which we learn a lot. Thank you very much for providing your insights.!!

Thank you so much for being willing to take another look at Morissette, Marc Daniel. As a classically trained musician who also enjoys pop (and other genres), for me she is the best of both worlds. I agree with you that less is more when it comes to her; many of my favorite performances are unplugged-style where it's just her and a keyboard or guitar, or an arrangement where she's actually not doing a lot of belting. I feel like that's when the true beauty of her voice is most apparent. Thanks again and I look forward to watching more of your videos!

She's got a fresher version of Defying Gravity, in Stages Sessions, this was done during this lockdown season actually, you may wish to react on that one, anyway, being a fan I also prefer her to concentrate on musical but I guess she's the kind of artist who wants to try to every genre that she can explore, I don't think she can stand doing the same thing over and over again for like six months straight, that's not her, she's too artistic to just stick in one genre. But thanks for reacting anyway, wish u will react to her new version of Defying Gravity, she's actually still sitting down there, actually she did a series of musicals songs all in one sitting, talking in between, probably about six musical songs, but s this particular song might perk your interest, apart from her covers of I Give My life For You from Miss Saigon and Someone Like You from Jekyll and Hyde, and Memory from The Cats. More power to you and your channel!❤️❤️❤️

Being a singer signed (is she signed?) to a network that produces dramas she could have gone into acting too - she looks like an actress anyway. But she hasn't so I'm guessing maybe that's not her thing. She probably likes musicals personally, but may not want to be in musicals. She tried it when she was younger, if she wanted to she could have continued with Repertory Philippines. I think she just really loves to sing + interacting with the audience. I think it's more up her alley to go into producing music, if anything.

Mr. Patrick, thank you for your reactions and for putting your honest opinions out there, especially from someone learned in the music and stage profession . I certainly respect that. I too have had years of musical training and, although my opinions regarding Morissette Amon vary greatly from yours at this point, I like to hear the viewpoints of others. I, for one, understand that I am in the minority about Idina Menzel. To me, her voice affects me similarly to nails on a chalkboard and not in a good way. I wouldn’t walk across the street to see her perform live if it were for free. However, I’d fly halfway around the world to see Ms. Amon and pay whatever price they were asking for the tickets. I’ve seen thousands of her YT performances and subsequent reactions and dozens from Ms. Menzel. There is absolutely zero comparison in my opinion. I truly believe that Morissette could take over Broadway if she chose to and focused on that alone and could surpass any that has come before her, performance-wise and vocally. I really don’t believe that Ms. Menzel or any of her contemporaries could have the impact on people that Morissette does if she or they were to step out of Broadway and into different genres in the way Morissette moves people. Again, thank you for your content. Looking forward to future reactions. Respect.

Marc, when you watch Morissette sing "Could You Be Messiah", you finally see what she truly is capable of bringing to the stage. It's beautifully filmed, a classic Filipino Christian music song and in this case, arranged by Gary Valenciano (who also sang the song incredibly well). She truly is a talented singer and in the "Could You Be Messiah" video, you can see how great her stage and performing presence can be. Somebody bring this lady to Broadway. A different type of song than her other covers, but truly, it is a video to watch and appreciate, not only for the talent, but for the message of hope it can bring to all. Red - m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bn7CXoR8hrV1rpI Morissette Amon - m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJvRaItsrtykb5I This is what is interesting. Red has a low starting point for the voice. Easy to breathe, easy to express high. That's mostly the singer's choice and it's normal. Morissette Amon, like elanie duran, has a high starting point for the voice. Like an action reaction in science, Make a sound Conversely, there should be a space of sound. Morissette Amon narrows the sound space from the beginning. Breathing is difficult, as if singing while pressing down on the neck with hands, and the throat rests. She looks very difficult to breathe after singing. Elanie duran has less difficulty breathing because she doesn't try high notes like Morissette Amon. I am curious about this phenomenon.

I would so love to see you react to the Philippines reigning Queen known as Asia’s Songbird Regina Velazquez. Her version of A piece of sky can be compared to the same level as Barbara Streisand’s version. The songwriter for a piece of sky went to the Philippines and heard Regina sing it and after said that after hearing her sing it that he always had one favorite singer and that was Barbara but now he has two referring to Regina. Her voice is out of this world in tone, power, volume and the ability to tell a story and the emotion of the song always gives you the chills whenever she sings that I would just love to hear your reaction to her singing because for me she is definitely up there at the top in the worlds number 1 singers especially for someone who should be on a stage with her talent.

I'd love to see you react to Morisette's live performance of a song called Resignation at Asia's Song Festival. She does a rendition of a classic Korean and she's gotten a lot of praise by the media for her performance. It's a power ballad where she sings in both English and Korean!

You should check out Defying gravity quarantine edition. All of the Morissette I’ve seen that I like the most is her emotional connection to songs. There’s a lot you’ve yet to see what this phenom can do.

Hi Mr. Patrick! A new subscriber here! If you don't mind reacting to a Broadway medley done by Regine Velasquez (Asia's Songbird) and Martin Nievera (Philippines' Concert King) during their 2003 World Concert Tour. These are two of the Philippines' best pop singers in their era (80s, and was in their prime). Selection of Songs are from West Side Story (I Have a Love and Somewhere), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Someone Like You and Take Me As I Am), Sweeney Todd (Not While I'm Around) and They're Playing Our Song (If He Really Knew Me). I'm not sure if this personal request will be on top of you request list. I just want to hear your thoughts and constructive criticism on their styles. Btw, am also a musical lover. :-) All the best!

New sub here. I think you reacted to Morissette's old rendition of "defying gravity" when she was younger. May I suggest you view the latest one that she did live during Quarantine (in the confines of her room perhaps). That was powerful and she was very much into the character. 😁

You have to react to her more recent stuff. You just picked a really bad (and old) example for your first impression. Her Broadway covers on Stages Sessions are amazing, particularly "Defying Gravity" and "She Used to be Mine". I would be stunned if you weren't impressed.

Exactly, Marc Daniel! I would be flabbergasted if you weren’t impressed.

Please do more Morisette reactions! I really do enjoy your opinions! Most reactors I see (I think) get scared off by Morisette's very vocal fans lol so I appreciate different points of views

You're literally the only person I've seen say she hadn't connected emotionally. Talent and technique aside, she is the epitome of a singer that brings the emotion. So I'm baffled. I haven't seen that review yet so I will try to see if from your lenses... That said, thanks for this review.

Hi Marc Daniel! Thank you for reacting once again to Morissette Amon. I've watched your previous reaction to her and I also think that performance was not her best, but also not the worst. But I can definitely assure you that you will see and hear more amazing live performances of Morissette. I hope to see more Morissette react videos from you soon. 😊
