I recently read an article by someone whose main musical interest is jazz. In this article she talked about the liveliness, the vitality of medieval music. Because of her article (I do not recall the title), I decided to listen to this. And I am glad I did. The music is indeed lively, even when there is a melancholy edge, and quite beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.

Mine is probably Black Metal. I like Soul Music and Funk though, could never get into Jazz. Blues is pretty good too.

I dont like jazz or classics aftee 1700AD but medieval, balkan hits or folk, india, east european music, electro, hard rock and german rap(like mero) . But medieval music is favorite. Especially when i want to listen calm music.

That’s really interesting. Presumably, this was traditional, normal stuff to hear, and to think it’s this vibrant and creative and dancey. Greek folk music still sounds kind of medieval to this day, in that they actually kept a lot of the same sounds and melodies, and it’s also a very lively form of traditional music

Thats is merely and not original , just the translation into the french language from the original in OCCITAN LANGUAGE, just adapted to modern day disgraceful narrative and ideologically, nationalist agenda, because back in the day these countries were part of the same european project with two languages, german and catalan

What first introduced me to Medieval Music was a video game called Skyrim. Mostly those of the modern generation, like Gen Y and Z know about video gaming in general. Skyrim transported me to an ancient time where castles, villages, Dukes and Earls (called Jarls in Skyrim). The background music was heavily inspired by this. A few years later I accidentally stumbled upon this and immediately recognized it. This is amazing!

Played this one evening in a flat in Bermondsey and imagined it was 1030 AD in the First Middle Ages. No, it was 2030 AD as the dispossessed, the homeless, the Min Wage workers who could never afford a home of their own yet served and kowtowed and fawned all day to those who owned several large mansions, and yet paid rent to them too, rose up and marched across Londpon Bridge to Sack the City. And so began the Second Middle Ages.

It is a profound pleasure to encounter an album like this - speaking as a connaisseur of Medieval Music still possessing a vast collection of Early Music accumulated since my youth. Ensemble Ioculatores reminds me in parts of for instance Clemencic Consort, Sarband and Joculatores Upsalienses (and others). Bravo! Encore!
