I prefer the Mini. I like the clarity & note definition. The least muddy or fizzy. Great comparison.

Completely agree! I bought one to use temporarily until my local store ordered me the TS9 I was normally comfortable using and I've never gone back since! The mini has a definition the others do not! Especially on smaller tube amps they sound amazing to me.

I decided to listen with my eyes closed and then judging, even though I had crappy in-ears, for me the choice is between the TS9 and the mini. Every time I didn't really like the sound and looked at the screen that I had paused, it turned out to be the 808. So I'll keep it simple and go for a mini. Thanks for your fine extensive testing and Bliss to you Malaysia man

Ive used a bunch of ts's... And quite honestly, they all sound and do the same. Not a bad thing, as they are briliant dor their purpose. I just dont see the purpose of paying extra money for a 808 when the ts9 sounds just as good. My latest one is the ts9dx, and it serves my needs more than adequate

Good point. See you are a wind player, where speed and low frequencies are the enemy. Similar with strings, low and slow. Just ordered the TS Mini because of the price and space envelope...but the 808 sounds more luscious in this demo. It's frustrating that a different phrase is played into each pedal. A looper into each pedal would provide a more objective demo.

Ruben Hernandez ts9 has more gain but your amp is doing most of the work in that area.

As far as i remember theini was based on the ts9, so they are really close. The 808 is a different beast, warmer with less gain..more of a bluesey feel. Ts808 wins for me!
@c1arkj2 жыл бұрын
anyone feel the mini has less sustain?
@OrkhanJulfa5 жыл бұрын
For my ears TS808 - smoothest one. Warmer, but a little muddier. TS9 - the most aggressive TSmini - clearest one with more definition.
@TheNocturnalEvil4 жыл бұрын
When you miniaturize a circuit then the overall efficiency of the circuit and signal to noise ratio increases. Hence you have minimal tone loss. That may be the reason why the TS Mini sounds the clearest and most articulate out of the three. In terms of circuit design it's same as the TS9 though.
@OrkhanJulfa4 жыл бұрын
@@TheNocturnalEvil Yes you are right.
@jlostboy3 жыл бұрын
@@TheNocturnalEvil I was wondering about that and then found this comment. Thanks for the great info about it, I always thought that to minimize a circuit was bad LOL, based on nothing more than just a bias.
@TheNocturnalEvil3 жыл бұрын
@@jlostboy Miniaturizing a circuit is bad from the point of view of repairability. However, due to their shorter signal path they are more efficient and have higher signal to noise ratio.
@jlostboy3 жыл бұрын
@@TheNocturnalEvil Thanks a lot! I was deciding to buy the TS9 or the mini-TS9 being the mini version 40% cheaper in my country (Argentina). I can afford the regular but if the mini version it's the same and more efficient as you said, then I'll buy the mini.
@jakestadium4 жыл бұрын
The magic thing about the 808 is how it retains the low end "thunk" on the pick attack of the single note lines. The ts9 and mini don't have this. It's more of a feel thing but it's really important. imo at least.
@Jordan-rb284 жыл бұрын
It's because of the gain potentiometer, you simply need to put the TS9 gain knob down a bit more for it to be next to identical.
@jakestadium4 жыл бұрын
@@Jordan-rb28 Not true. If you've ever played an 808 and ts9 side by side there are very clear differences that can't be changed with a gain pot tweak. The 808 has a different EQ curve, it is smoother/less pronounced in the upper mids and highs. It sounds bigger and less compressed than the ts9 and also doesn't cut as much low end. As a stand alone overdrive the 808 is superior. Boosting a dirty signal, the ts9 wins. Different tools for different jobs.
