Creedence Clearwater Revival was an American phenomenon that from 1968 to 1972 enjoyed an impressive prestige and popularity, they dominated the radio with an unusual feat, a busy but prolific period of work: 7 albums in 4 years, more than 10 platinum records, and 8 number 1 singles. By 1970 and with the beatles out of business, not only did they become the biggest band in the united states, they had triple the sales of the rolling stones, pink floyd had not yet taken off completely, and led zeppelin had not yet reached its peak, so for a few glorious months, they were without a doubt, the biggest band in the world.

Great video and recap! Just a correction about Woodstock to clear up any confusion. The audience hadn't left, they fell asleep. Fogerty in past interviews was discouraged that the Dead had put the audience to sleep that John wasn't hearing the normal response from an audience in between songs so much that thought they weren't loud enough, continuing to ask "is this thing on?" He still jokes to this day that one person way out in the field yelled, "We're with you, John!" So he said he felt while he was at Woodstock, he played for "that guy".

And to be fair to the Grateful Dead, there were a lot of rain delays before they went on, which even caused a few electric shocks when they tried to play their instruments after the rain. It led to CCR not hitting the stage until about 1:30am.

So many people have seen john in his later years. Not realizing just how important he is to american music. His power for destroying the audience may be less than it used to be. He is in the pantheon of the greatest musical artist this world has ever known. No joke

Another correction, Tom was rhythm guitarist, only! John was lead guitarist as well as singer, writer, arranger and producer. You made it sound like Tom was lead guitarist, which he was not!

8#1 songs??? They didn't even have ONE #1 song! lol. They had 5 #2 songs in America. So close, but, couldn't get the #1 spot. CCR did have 2 #1 albums in America, Green River (1969) and Cosmo's Factory (1970).

The massive FAIL known as "Mardi Gras" was not only the straw that broke the band up, but was a crystal clear illustration that Stu Cook and Doug Clifford were NOT the brilliant singers and songwriters they thought themselves to be.
