28 layers of silk...now that is dedication! Truly those look beautiful, even if it's not my favourite design and colour scheme. Didn't know Musician builds speakers too, multi talented people. Sound like a good deal for 2000! Good job explaining the sound and the improvement over time!👍

I must thank you for this great review, and the hard work that went into it. I greatly appreciate the depth of your reviews. Based on your review of the Gustard R26, I bought one and am very happy with it. Now I intend to buy these speakers, but I don’t know which stands are the best suited, how high they should be etc.? Speaker stands may be just as important to sound quality as speakers themselves. In your written review you just say: “make sure you have the right speaker stands and surface area to accommodate them.” Could you recommend any stand? I see that you were using a pair of white stands (50-60 cm?), is this the optimal height? It seems its top plate may not be suitably sized…

I found the Buchardt speakers lacked detail and not even in the same ball park with some of the better quality sounding stand mount speakers.. like Dali Rubicon ll and the knight 1...

Remember that little Keces e40? Can that amp drive these well enough to moderate volumes in an under 300 sq ft room? 86dB and 4 ohms.

@@Soundnews Realistically, how far do these need to be from back wall to not sound boomy up to moderate sound levels, say up to 90 db/ 1 meter. That would likely be the loudest I would play, typically a bit less. These are quite deep speakers but might work in a 26 sq m room? Thx. Looked at alot of speakers but keep coming back to these.

Would these Night 1’s hold up against the Kef R3 Meta?

Not as technical and fast as the Metas, but definitely fuller bodied and thicker sounding. You need some system matching with the Metas and you don't need to worry about that with the Knight1. Just my 2 cents.

Isn't 86dB typical for speakers this size with its capabilities? Similar sized speakers go below 83dB with not too many achieving 88dB or higher.

You have a valid point. 86 dB is indeed typical for bookshelves at this size...but there are plenty that have it higher. However, I didn't like them with entry level Topping or SMSL amps...they just didn't sing on that.

thank you for this video, it is not that hyped speaker so there is no that much interest from my side, as I am quite new in hifi I tend to rely on various reviews and better known (maybee more hyped :| ) products,...however I find your review to be very helpfull and I am alost decided to purchase them. I will maybee consider ascend acoustics yet but this one seems more likeable to me.

I like the NS17 a bit more - they can withstand higher SPL and the sound feels more controlled at higher volumes. Let's not forget the naturalness coming out of the NS17, it's overflowing.

In your article it is written - that they have a height of 33cm and a depth of 39cm. Have you measured them? It’s just that I’m developing speakers and I know that 2-way speakers with a 6.5-inch mid-woofer and when the speakers are centered on the same line - usually have a height of at least 35 cm. From the photo in your article, where they stand sideways, you can see - that height greater than depth.

I got mine today, and I can confirm they mess with their basic information, They claimed that the Knight 1 is 250mm*390mm*330mm(W-L-H), but actually, it's 230mm*362mm*390mm(W-L-H), and this “red box” was used by another Chinese company for their hi-end speaker WINNER TD-9（230mm*362mm*390mm(W-L-H). Why are two companies using the same enclosure? I heard that Musician is also a famous OEM factory for enclosure, but I cannot confirm it.

@@nc3419 yeap, resale value is the biggest problem with chinese audiophile products. I'm sure the speakers sound great though... these chinese companies produce speakers for big brands like B&W, Sonus Faber and many others. it's very likely that this Musician Knights are a re-badged and face-lifted big name speaker (sonus faber perhaps... the twitter looks like old sf).

@@net_news ...and like many people are finding, I am getting more enjoyment out of less expensive budget speakers. Easy to drive, sound great and fit the room and my needs. RIght now, I have Triangle Zetas and just purchased Dali Opticon 1 (like it better than Menuet SE) at half off, new. Using the Keces E40 with really good results. Also have a Hegel but overkill and I am not going to spend $$$ on speakers. With a D70S I have all the fidelity I need. For all genres. But that attitude doesn't keep everyone in business.

I think its a speaker that appeals to those who really like that particular sound, but it supposedly competes with more expensive speakers. Doesn't mean one would prefer their sound as there are many different presentations. Plus, depends on synergy and room.
