I’ve been constantly checking for reactions to this one. It’s definitely the best in this series. Samus did DOZENS of fills, and from what I can tell, all of them were different. Achilles is my favorite Zep song, and I can't stop watching this video. He did SUCH a great job with his arrangement. Also, scripted or no, don't sleep on Blue Man Group. Their music is incredible.

In case you didn't know, that drum kit is electronic. When I first saw the original video I wondered why there weren't any mics in the toms and the snare, I only found out why when I watched a reaction from a drummer in another channel. 🙂

66Samus is a very, very talented musician...he's played on Devon Townsend's Empath record. He's mainly a technical death metal drummer, but man he can play anything.

This is such a clever way of making notes for yourself. I make notes for bass fills in my head with silly things to remember the cue. But this? This is a whole different level. This is like having pace notes for a rally driver.

They did this with Nandi Bushell she managed to get that song nearly right when they played the real drumming back at her. The bass playing Keyboard by John Paul Jones. The Drummer was John Bonham as was before the double peddle he used no shoes to use his foot and toes to make the kick faster.

@@ExploringTheSmoke Gar Samuelson played the first 1st two megadeth records along with Chris Poland on lead guitar. Both came from a jazz background and some of the music on those first two records are insane. I'm a huge Megadeth fan, Rust in Peace is a masterpiece and the last 2 Megadeth records are insanely good. Chris Adler put the drums on the first record before Dirk joined. Kiko played lead on both...watching Kiko, Dirk and James Lomenzo jam before gigs on Kiko's channel is a thing of beauty lol. So far, of all the drummers I've seen do this on drumeo, there's always been at least a little, and usually a lot of stuff they did that was way worse than the original. This was the first time I've seen where the new drum track would have actually worked as well as the original.

It honestly blows my mind that musicians don't know these songs. Maybe playing music consumes time they would otherwise be listening but man, drummers not knowing one of the best performances from maybe the greatest rock drummer ever seems so odd.

I was six when the song was recorded, never heard of it. What's so difficult to believe? Zeppelin may have been big, but they were still a niche band. I wasn't a stoner, so Zeppelin wasn't really on my radar.

Like in the grunge movement I wouldn't expect people to have heard the Gits' music but I would expect them to have heard Nirvana. The Gits are niche, Nirvana is not. But niche or not, yeah I would expect drummers to have heard the work of the some of the greatest drummers ever. I don't see how pro drummers (especially rock drummers) go on Drumeo or wherever and haven't heard Keith Moon or Bonham or Bill Ward or whoever. Maybe they don't seek out the greats for inspiration/influence. Idk.

@@rasicomega He's heard Zeppelin. Doesn't mean he knows every Zeppelin song. Yeah, they were niche. I was heavily into rock at the time and didn't even know they were still active. Only knew the 5-6 songs that were on the radio. KISS was a bigger band and I only know a few of their songs. It isn't hard to not know every song by even the biggest bands.
