As you've just seen, LOVEBITES are elite musicians. Their two guitarists are possibly the best guitar duo in metal today. Collectively as a band (and in terms of their musicianship), they are probably in the top three metal bands on the planet (along with Dream Theater and Symphony-X). They are the only band I've heard that do not have even a single bad song in their entire catalogue. I encourage you to continue down the LOVEBITES rabbit hole - you won't regret it.

Welcome from the Wolfpack, Lovebites fans around the world. A bit more info to try and add to what you have had from other comments. The members of the band are, Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained as a Ballet Dancer and before joining Lovebites was a R&B and Jazz backing singer. Writes most of the Lyrics. Midori, The Blond 'Amazon Warrior'. Guitar. Miyako, Long Black Hair. Guitar, Piano and Keyboards. She is a classically trained pianist from age 3, only taking up the Guitar in her late teens. She writes much of the bands music. Miho, Bass. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons. Co founder of the band, along with, Haruna, Drums. Miho and Haruna were both in Destrose, a Japanese band that broke up in 2015, leading to them forming Lovebites in 2016. The new Bass player from late 2022 is Fami, only 20 at the time of joining making her the baby of the band. She has her own YT channel with nearly 700,000 subs. Midori and Miyako are joint lead guitarists, their back and forth harmonising is a thing of beauty in my opinion. Lovebites are named for a Hailstorm song, 'Love Bites, And So Do I'. There is a video on YT from 2019 in which Lizzy Hale invites Asami on stage. It shows just how short Asami is, she almost looks like a Hobbit alongside Lizzy. A few personal favourite songs, Thunder Vengeance, Hammer of Wrath, Winds of Transylvania (written by Lovebites as the opening music to a crazy Japanese Anime series) Frozen Serenade, Edge of the World, Epilogue. Whatever you may chose to listen to from these ladies, you will not be disappointed.

Good reaction! Your analysis is just fine. You had some notions of lead guitarist though, and .... they both are. There is really no dedicated rhythm guitarist, they take turn and having the lead or have it together. That the guitarists are something else is quite obvious, but even the drummer is very special. She has a big kit and she uses it all with very good dynamics. What you see here is the old basist (one of the two founders, the drummer being the other one). They now have a young prodigy that is 21 years old right now. She is not a metal bassist, but she is learning fast and being super good at bass helps. The band had an hiatus during 2022, being without bassist, covid hitting the world and the singer and one of the guitarists having babies. But, they are now back with a very high energy. Partly the new bassists doing as she is always very happy and positive. Actually, the new bassist is actually more popular than Lovebites on the net.

So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings. Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band. Then came covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023. This year in June LOVEBITES‘ first world tour starts in Europe. In September they will play their biggest headline show ever in Tokyo. Thanks for your reaction. I can recommend so many great LOVEBITES songs. These ladies are diverse in their creativity (different genres of metal, a little hard rock, classical music). But I just suggest you check out the song which I think is one of the best among all the LOVEBITES songs. This song is called 'Dystopia Symphony'. The song is dedicated to the Great German composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Unfortunately, it is very rarely checked by Reactors because there is no video of this song being performed at a concert. There is only audio. But I think you, as a musician, will be interested in checking out and evaluating 'Dystopia Symphony'. This is a metal masterpiece of the highest standard, born under the influence of classical music.

I disagree with previous comments on but one point. I’d drop the word “metal”from “best band on the planet”. I began supporting LOVEBITES over three years ago and part of my evening routine here in the U.K. (I know, I can only apologise…) is to search “LOVEBITES” and filter by “date added” and “today”. I then see at least one reaction most evenings, with very few exceptions. I used to watch them all, and gave a “like” whether I did or not because that channel is helping my favourite band of all time (I’m 64). Nowadays however I watch far fewer reactions per session because I’ve become used to how some of them are presented and too many just want me to help them, not the band they are reacting to. You my friend are a very rare exception to this trend. Within a few seconds I knew I would like this reaction and you focused all your attention on the task at hand, reacting to a piece of music by musicians who you have never seen or heard before. The pauses were all on point and constructive. You explained things very clearly for people such as myself who have no musical experience, only an ear for excellence. It won’t surprise you that I picked up on the virtuosity of LOVEBITES within the first 30 seconds of this very song (I can’t be certain that it was Holy War but the more I try and remember the more logical it seems…this song has introduced probably 75% of all listeners to the band). Thank you for an informative, well presented and clear explanation of what you thought of the band, the individual musicians and their music. I can honestly tell you that there is almost no point reacting to another band until you have exhausted LOVEBITES catalogue because they have no peers. However I understand that I am just a tiny bit biased. More LOVEBITES please. I won’t recommend any particular song because there is not a single dud in their 56 songs to date…seriously. There is a huge selection of live performances to choose from and no, I don’t think that some with poor sound quality are best avoided. LOVEBITES through a bad mix still sound better than anyone else, living or dead.

Thanks for taking a listen to LOVEBITES. I’m sure most of the comments are “best” this and “most” that as usual. The fans can be a bit hyperbolic. That said, this is a great band that primarily plays power and thrash metal. This song is highly reminiscent of “Wolf and Raven” by Sonata Arctica, and LOVEBITES has a handful of songs that are in the same vein as “Holy War.” What you said about Asami, the vocalist, is well spotted. She doesn’t really nail the second extended belt toward the end of the song, but she knows it and cuts it off before it starts to go wrong. Also, I think person for person, LOVEBITES is the shortest band I listen to.

@@VacancyCrowning Sure! Haruna, the drummer, has confirmed that she’s 4’ 9” and blonde guitarist Midori has confirmed that she’s 4’ 11”. The other members haven’t confirmed their height that I’m aware of, but the tallest is believed to be Fami, the new bass guitarist, who is believed the stand 5’ 3”. On average, I think they’re shorter than any other band I’m aware of.

I am an old Spanish wolf, and honestly, I am in awe of these girls, I still remember that distant 1978, when I was waiting in front of the record store for the latest Rainbow or AC/DC album and now, after a thousand years later and with the transformation of heavy metal into something dark, pessimistic, sometimes unpleasant, I find myself with these wonderful women, incredible and beautiful artists, full of sympathy and positive energy, who transmit joy of life and hope, who have filled my heart with joy. I cant stop watching and enjoying them; I have forgotten the old bands with their old musicians who repeat their old songs over and over again; I just want to hear, see and feel these masters of heavy metal music. And special mention to the most beautiful and talented singer in the world, my beloved Asami, the goddess before whose feet I bow.

One, most but not all Lovebites songs are live because they are amazing live. But their studi vids tend to be very epic as well. Two, I say this all the time. There are no bad Lovebites songs. There are just songs you like better. Three. Almost everyone seems to do Holy Wars first. Not exactly sure why. When I see a content creator reacting to Holy Wars, I am pretty sure it's the first time they ever heard Lovebites. LOL. It's a great song but to me, it is one of their most "vanilla" songs. And it great song to do first to get a "base" feel for the band. But as you expand your exposure to them, most people find this is sort of a basic song for their style. For me anyway. Oh, Midori, the real fast guitar player. Only started playing guitar when she was 20. Miako, the other guitarists will play classical piano in some songs.

It is good but muddy mixed and doesn't tell the full story.
