he picked it up. Shit was dope at the end. The hook got me
@baverfjant22 күн бұрын
And to be honest he was the only one to truly challenge himself. He brought his strengths to his new band but also put himself out there by trying out their style which includes clean singing that he's not used to. No knocking on Kacey and Vince who did great, and are both incredibly talented. But Kacey played to the strengths of the band and didn't incorporate her own unique strengths. And I know that Paula would have never agreed with clean singing, but that's where they would have to go to compare. Vince did the opposite and brought his strengths, but didn't really attempt to growl or scream. Again I can understand why, it's not easy to growl or scream if you're not used to it. But all in all, I think Austin took the biggest risk and challenged himself.
@atka007620 күн бұрын
@@baverfjant Yeah i feel like this would've been fair if Kacey went to Soulfire and Vince to Graystone, because then all of the vocalists would've gone the farthest from their comfort zone and they would've all compromised and tried new styles. Also it would've been very interesting what all the bands come up with. But this Graystone song is such a banger, for that i'm glad it happened this way lol.

As someone who's not a musician, I don't think I ever really think about just what an ENORMOUS difference, changing up the drums on a song can do, all three drummers made it sound like an entirely different song, even though everything else was identical!

@@TuckerMorgan-i1h I would agree with that. I had wondered before I watched the performance what they were judging on. as a drummer i really appreciate the love and backbone status that us drummers have. I know we are kinda seen as dum-dums due to not having a hand in melodies or harmony. But no matter what all the parts come together to make the whole. drummers love our fellow musicians as much as they love us

As much as I love blast beats, Damien took the drumming challenge for me. I feel like what he did suited the song better

The blast beats didn't suit the song, I agree. Would've been better if it was just straight 16th notes on the kicks but none of them went that direction.

I wanted Austin to sing for ages. He’s an amazing screamer, but I know, his singing would add even more to his musicianship. It takes huge balls to step out of the own comfort zone. A highlight of this season.

Jared you're an absolute legend and genius for coming up with this show and finding all these cool people. The S2 is a huge level up from what was already brilliant, hats off to the production team because this is professional work. And of course the contestants, it's still mindblowing that musicians can build so much chemistry in such a short time to create such quality of music. I really hope this goes on for a very long time and at one point we see a mega mansion with all the bands who won the seasons competing against each other :D

Season 1 was a fun watch. Though, the challenges and activities weren't as interesting... It was far less organized, and the sound quality of that reverberant room was hard to listen to. This time, all the kinks were straightened out and this show got REALLY good. I'm very excited to see more!

Austin you get a 10/10. Been a fan since i was a kid i love dickey dines you shaped my whole sense of humor. Yeah you messed up the first chorus but you aren’t typically a singer, you killed it by the end and that’s way more than any screamer can usually say

Definitely think the judges were off with soulfires performance. Ripping the solo that literally fit the song profile? And then ripping Austin for going completely out of his comfort zone saying he shouldn’t have done any clean vocals, just doesn’t feel right.
@kanquida23 күн бұрын
It was not about the effort they did to make the song happen, it was about making it all blend and sound "good", his clean singing was bad, and also he didn't say the solo didn't fit, it was unnecesary, the song could have gone completely fine without the solo, and i get it, the figures are kind of (for lack of a better word) generic
@Dr.Spatula23 күн бұрын
Austin sang bad. He knows. He knows why. He and the judges even mentioned how it was corrected by the end. They are being judged based on LIVE performances. Shit happens. And as the other comment said, Hirem said he personally thought it was unnecessary. That does not mean bad or didn't fit
@DrinkWater-ly8ew23 күн бұрын
Well, I don't think he should've gone out of his comfort zone for a performance. The band should've played to Austin's strengths which wasn't cleans.
@KML-XX23 күн бұрын
@@DrinkWater-ly8ewoh yeah, they weren't wrong. It would probably be much better to see them try to make fully screemo song then force him into cleans when he's not feeling in them. Though maybe it really was just that he couldn't hear himself and would do great

I really like Alexa's drumming. I like complexity like any other prog nerd but I think there is something to be said about serving the song. I really like her contribution to the songs throughout the 3 episodes.
@Lil_Paulie22 күн бұрын
Yea simplicity is effective, and coming from a pop-rock/pop-punk background that's the type of drumming she's used to. My only big criticism is her double kicking. Other than that she's been crushing it. And that's no easy task when you're up against Damien and Logan.
@gyberic22 күн бұрын
@@Lil_Paulie Had to scroll surprisingly far to see a comment re: Alexa's off time kicks. Seems like most people don't notice, so I guess that's cool haha
@cloudoftime22 күн бұрын
@@gyberic I don't accept that most people don't notice, I think people just don't want to leave negative comments. Since Hiram made the criticism in episode 1, people have been walking on eggshells. Look, you don't _need_ to be a fast drummer, but you do need to be a metronome. Alexa is, unfortunately, off rhythm at some point in every single song this season. People want to lift her up in other ways, saying she is "playing to the song" or "playing to her strengths" and that she is "crushing it" but can people just be honest? Is she the worst drummer ever? Obviously not. Is she the best on the show? Obviously not. Do we really need to give false praise out so much? Can people not just be what they are anymore?
@SwampsideStrength20 күн бұрын
@@cloudoftime agree. It’s not just the kicks that are off, pretty much every fill in her solo was off, every song her timing is inconsistent. Not a bad drummer by any means, but she’s nowhere near the level of most the musicians on the show. She just needs more experience and there’s nothing wrong with saying that
@aaronclinard50037 күн бұрын
I was going to say the same. She's a great drummer, but I feel bad that she's kind of outclassed on the context of this show. She deserves her place in the industry for sure, but she's just not laser perfect on beat to the level of the other drummers here.

After three episodes i think Paula is the MVP: skilled - especially in writing, humble, nice... The dynamic with Niks epic/unique style was so insane in this 24hour song (EP.3) (I like many others too, but she stood out)
@rubenbekkevold445523 күн бұрын
Through the first 3 episodes, I must say Hirem has dissapointed me. His judging and expectation seems very biased and driven more by what he likes instead of actual musicianship. I mean, wtf is up with the facial expression at the intro to Aeris's song 44:07 In general I think Musician Mansion and the musicians themself would benefit from a more thought out response from the judges. Make it a segment after everyone has performed. Thank you, Jared, all musicians, and every hero behind the scenes for this series!
@Malkav6523 күн бұрын
I don't think he's necessarily a bad judge, but your criticisms are totally valid. Obviously everyone has their biases and preferences, but the judges should try their best to be as objective as possible. In Episode 2 when Hiram gave a 50 and Cole gave a 70 to Soulfire, it didn't feel like the disparity was well-reasoned or justified. That said, I really like Cole's judging and commentary, and I think Angel has improved a lot at judging since last season.
