I personally think Lyssandre's theme in USUM is just a banger and one of the best villain themes, you can actually feel the tension of fighting someone who just became crazy by nuking the whole world?? The build ups, the speed up beats, the organ playing in the background, it's just majestic

To be honest, Lysandre’s theme doesn’t matter from XY or USUM, it gives me the vibes of something boss theme from Teen Titans 😂 it’s just gives me the vibes of that. Teen Titan. I think the debate for the lyrics in Rose's theme has been that it's either "Go, Rose, save everyone!" or "Rosa seda credo", which would mean something along the lines of "I believe in the Rose" when translated from Latin to English

As a side note, I really like Cyrus’ theme because it ... oddly fits? Everyone complains that for Cyrus being so emotionless this theme doesn't fit. However, more than Cyrus, the original DPPt theme encapsulates the significance of the final battle against Cyrus really well. When I fought Cyrus for the first time in the Distortion World and heard the theme, I felt as if the music was telling me, ‘This ... is it. This is your most important battle up so far. This is the one you have to win at any cost. This battle certainly won't be easy and can trip you down ... however, you have to give it your all and emerge triumphant in the end ... ’. Given how Team Galactic was built up as so evil unlike their predecessors ( they literally blew up a lake, tried to surgically remove the gems on Lake Guardians' head and try to vandalise the entire Universe ), the serious tone imparted by this theme felt so fitting for me. And the battle was certainly difficult; a Gyarados with Earthquake, a Crobat that can hax you with confusion and flinching at the same time and an insanely fast Weavile. Which is why I really liked this theme. Clearly, this implies that I was disappointed by the USUM version because even though it was much more refined, I could not get the message ‘ Fight but no Flight ’ in this one. I would rank these themes in ascending order as: Archie/Maxie Rose Oleana USUM Lysander Guzma ( not my favorite but like it and it fits him so much) DPPt Cyrus Colress USUM Giovanni Lusamine ( both themes ) Ghetsis ( B2W2 was great too but BW got me. Sounds so devilish... ) N Volo

Rose's choir says : "Rose, save everyone." (btw the choir is nearly in the entire song, but often sings "aaah" or "oooh".

The choir are singing in Latin "Rosa Seda Credo", translation "Rose's thorned creed", referring to Rose's creed to "save" Galar from its potential energy crisis, however by summoning Eternatus and bringing the Darkest Day, he dooms the whole region, explaining the thorns in his creed, cause the old saying goes, even a rose has its thorns.

Personally, the ORAS theme for them is far more indicative of the might they command, as opposed to the pure electronic theme they got in USUM. So I’m glad she went with that version for them.

It's a shame, because personally, I think the Rainbow Rocket themes for everyone except Giovanni and Ghetsis were made in a sillier manner since they were essentially just strong mooks in the story. I do like Lysandre's and Archie/Maxie's RR remixes but as an alternative, not as a representation of what the theme really is.

One detail I noticed about the Ghetsis theme from usum is that after a while the choir sounds like they go from chanting “Ghetsis” to chanting “Lord Ghetsis” and I find that amazing

Rose isn't even really evil, just extremely, stupidly misguided. He's trying to do away with the possibility of a mass energy crisis in Galar that isn't even really an impending threat as of the events of Sword and Shield, and to that end he did... something... to bring about the Darkest Day, aka Eternatus (the apparent origin of the Dynamax power and the Wishing Stars). It doesn't help that we never really see the impact of his actions until the very end because the story forcibly sidelines us from doing anything exciting until then (Pokemon are inexplicably Dynamaxing and going berserk? Great, now let us actually fight some or at least freaking SEE them...). I love Pokemon, but Sword and Shield has the weakest story by a mile, and that's even compared to the early gens that don't really have one. At least the DLC's and their stories were miles better, though. And Scarlet and Violet are bloody fantastic if you fix the bugs.

And how you would consider the Cassiopiea theme (yeah Star isn't evil at ALL but Cassie here still committed fraud so...maaaaybe? On a technicality?) and the vs AI professors theme (also not villains but you're not really fighting the AIs themselves but rather the lingering malice and hatred of their creators, who WERE villains) to rank. Plus, side games! We need to hear you rank the Miror B themes and Dim Sun and Dragnor Battlefield and all of that!

I noticed you didn’t like themes that doesn’t have a pop or ‘drop the bass moment’ in the theme. I find it funny cuz some boss themes are supposed to give you a sense of droning dread. Rather than an epic high energy pop. Also, it’s an inherent bias if you start off with gen 1 all the time as you’re not exposed to other themes to compare. Edit: Giovanni straight up stole Silph Co.’s theme.

BDSP version of Cyrus theme really doesn't do it justice. Bit of a shame really because there are actual good renditions of it. I'd rank em like this: S - Ghetsis (B2W2 Version) A - Cyrus (D/P/PT Version) / Rose / Lusamine (her other theme, that one is much better) / Robot Professor (the first Phase, not the fight against Koraidon/Miraidon, that one sucks) B - Giovanni / Archie and Maxie (USUM Version) / Volo C - Lysander

I gave you a like for the video anyway, but I gotta say the bias for Volo is way too heavy and apparent for me here. A tier list about opinions is obviously gonna be subjective, but this goes beyond subjective. Volo was the only one where you seemed to include not only the character, but also the context of situation in which the theme then plays out. Bit much for me here, but as I said: still a good video!

The only sad part for me to this video is N’s Decisive Battle wasn’t in this fight between other villain boss theme here. I know, I know, N isn’t the biggest villain boss in here (not even the villain) bust since he holds his ideal to make sure he defeats every champion of regions includes you the protagonist/new hero which he actually did a big mistake. N’s decisive battle… I’m yelling to you… I can’t believe it it’s not in here, because it’s not because of Volo that makes me want to find a Pokémon ranking video about villain boss theme…it’s N. 🥲
