Toby knows when he’s found a good thing! They are writing a lot of songs together which he says will be released soon. One of my favorite groups of songs is an outdoor concert in Norway when she is eleven years old with this great jazz band. She’s wearing a white dress up to her knees and of course barefoot. Sorry, don’t know the name but every song she sings is better than the one before. Just amazing. My all time favorites are her songs between the ages of ten through twelve. Such a pro! Adele and Amy are likely her biggest influences of contemporary artists. We know of 13 Adele covers she did, though many only as short TikTok snippets. Of Amy she did 6 titles, but 5 of which she did in concert, often repeatedly. And of the 6th we only have a rehearsal video with a band, but that was likely in preparation of an concert we just have no footage of. And she did rewrite the lyrics of a couple of Amy songs to be age appropriate, to be able to perform then when she was young. She also did many titles by Sam Smith the last couple years, but most only as TikTok snippets. Older and probably even deeper influences include Elvis and Billie Holiday --- of the latter Angelina once said, there would be no Angelina Jordan without Billie Holiday.

Thanks for your great reaction! Toby Gad has written Grammy award-winning songs for such artists as Beyoncé, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Fergie, Demi Lovato, and many others. He has taken Angelina under his wing and this is their first original song to be released together. There are others in the works. No question that this song is created to display all of the best of Angelina's capabilities. It is likely that Toby co-wrote the song, but Angelina exudes grit and passion that is written on her face, and expressed in her vocals. It is she who brings this masterpiece to life! I love this new original song, Angelina's live interpretation and lyrics are extraordinarily raw and aggressive and her so particular, hoarse and deep voice completely fascinates you while she performs those fantastic and beautiful tonal scales and does it in perfect relaxation, effortlessly, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. I love it so much. My favorite yet. She's so good at so much, but doesn't do these kinds of stories and vocals all that often. It's crazy getting stuck on this one, then she cuts your legs right out from under you the next time you hear her unreal breathy tones, soft beautiful stories, more head voice. In the recent documentary, "Angelina Jordan: 10 Years in the Making," that was produced by her Mom, Sara Astar, Angelina said that she was proud to be compared to Amy Winehouse & Adele She has covered many of their songs, but she has said in the past that without Billie Holiday there would be no Angelina of today. Angelina is infused with Billie, but Amy & Adele are major influences. You should react to that documentary, it's 16 min long, but very well done & worth the time. Guess who’s NOT the Bad Valentine? Angelina Jordan. On her Old Enough EP there’s a song called Now I’m the Fool, about unrequited love. Bad Valentine is the follow up to that song written from the opposite perspective. She starts off “I stood you up on Valentine”, clever girl, everyone assuming Jordan is the bad valentine, but then she sings the lyric “I thought I told you I would mess up girl, I warned you right from the start and you are a FOOL to try”, a direct link to Now I’m the FOOL. Now I’m the Fool is sung in a hurt, feminine voice, while Bad Valentine is sung in a strong, more masculine voice. Listen to Now I’m the Fool and then immediately listen to Bad Valentine and see if you get the connection.

Amy Winehouse is a definite musical influence but thank heavens AJ has none of the personal demons that ended up destroying Amy - she's surrounded by a loving family, had a grounded childhood, and has always been both musically and emotionally mature beyond her years - her mom said she acted like a little adult from age 9 or so. As for a next reaction - a huge one would be Unchained Melody from the Nobel Peace Prize tribute in Dec 2023. Completely different style and tone from Bad Valentine. But if you do it please take a few minutes to understand the context first though before reacting.

Totally wrong, this is the follow up to Now I’m the Fool, in which she was rejected. Bad Valentine is being sung by that person in Jordan’s voice. What throws everyone off is she starts off singing “I stood you up on Valentines”. It also doesn’t help that the lyric “I thought I told you I would mess up girl, I warned you right from the start is not captioned properly in the video, so everyone thinks Jordan is the bad valentine and can’t make the connection with Now I’m the Fool. I mean, it’s the whole point of the two songs!

Regardless of who is the "Bad Valentine" in this story the twist remains the same, the individual actually at fault is the one obsessing over an illusory person and refusing to face reality not the person behaving badly.

@@Edam-Channel Jordan is pure love. She would never stand her date up on Valentines Day with absolutely no remorse. That takes a really cold person! She would never do that to another human being, it goes against everything she stands for.These comments show that none of these people have any idea who or what this girl truly is!

One of the parties is deluded and living in a fantasy relationship and stubbornly refusing to see the other person for who they really are. The other party is self recriminating beating themselves up for how they behaved badly in reaction to the delusions of the first person.
