@davidharrison15234 ай бұрын
Elvis loved to be playful on stage, & even more playful during rehearsals, but would always focus when it was time to get down to business. It’s always a joy to see him when he’s playful. He was just mucking around with Glen, & I daresay that Glen was ready for it. I saw an interview with a couple of these musicians, after Elvis’ death, & they said they always had to be ready for Elvis to throw in something that hadn’t been done in rehearsal. They all used to play pranks on one another & there’s a video showing Elvis calling out the name of the next song, & the pianist deliberately starts playing another song. Well Elvis just calmly switched over to the other song, but as he was singing, he moved over to where the piano was, & reached for his water glass, & that pianist leapt up really quickly, but Elvis threw the water over him, & then calmly got on with the song. When Charlie & the guitarist saw Elvis reaching for that glass of water, they hurriedly moved out of the way, because they knew what was coming next.

Damn, great musicians, singer's and band. They were so tight. Right here, at this point, he was at his best John. Though he was using drugs during this time, he hadn't started the hard stuff yet, just the uppers and downers. After the Hawaii Satellite show, it's was a steady decline. He looked and sounded amazing here, fit, happy at 35 years old. His whole group were awesome, just supreme musicians. I love Yosemite John, been many times, a month ago. Going to Mammoth Lakes, California to ski tomorrow. Watch Free Solo, a documentary about a rock climber who climbed El Capitan without ropes and by himself, amazing. The Elvis of rock climbing !!

Excellent performance. He was at the top of his game here. No competition at all. This being his second summer engagement in Las Vegas, he was still in a good mood, and a healthy weight. The following year, would prove to be not so good for Elvis. He had worn tired of Vegas, his appearance, mood, and performance began to suffer. By the end of 1971 engagement, he completely lost his desire to return. His honeymoon with amphetamines at night, and barbiturates during the day, was wearing off, they were no longer providing him with the energy and alertness, they had in the past. This would be the last time, Elvis had his feet firmly planted at the peak of success. The next two years, would prove to be a roller coaster of sorts, with two highs, being his Garden engagement, and Hawaii. In between and after, gaining weight, and being visibly medicated, which only escalated after Hawaii. It's too bad, there was no one around to love him enough to say NO. Every member of his mafia, should of said, NO..If he still refused to seek help, then they should of taken it to the press. and humiliated him into compliance. Only after being fired, did they do the right thing. Clearly protecting their pocket books, before their so called best friends health...
