Hey guys! Today I am reacting to a song by Elvis Presley: "Unchained Melody" (Live 1977).
After doing some research I found out that the song wasn't written by the "Righteous Brothers". It was written by Hy Zaret & Alex North. Sorry for the wrong information in the video!
I was listening to the song a few more times after doing the reaction and heard that the last part of it was overdubbed with other instruments after the record! It sounds pretty good though. After checking out the undubbed version I have to say that I like it even better - Elvis playing the piano is a fantastic combination!
I am really trying hard to catch up with all of your requests! More than 60 songs are on my list at the moment. We'll do them all haha!
+850 Subscribers! Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
Check out my other videos and subscribe to my channel for more reaction & music-related videos. Thank you so much, have a good day & Happy Halloween!

It is strange.... You can see his beauty under that swelling..despite his difficulties to even breath ..he deliveres once again with charisma that left you in awe. High notes, that falsetto..... Elvis was a proud man..to be on stage knowing that he does not look good.. that is bravery. By the way I love your shirt

Elvis was the greatest!!I am a nurse, and he was slowly but surely dying here, but his voice never failed him although his heart is in failure here as evidenced by his swollen appearance and his inability to breathe very well. There will never be another performer at his caliber!!!I mean NEVER!!!

I was 12 years old, riding in the back seat of my parents '62 Plymouth Fury on August 16th 1977. My folks had taken my sisters and I out to lunch near Aquatic Park, Fisherman's Wharf when it was announced on the radio that Elvis had died.......no one said a word the rest of the way home but you could feel the pain and heartache in the silence. Whenever I see this video of his last performance, I think it's in South Dakota? His amazing voice still brings tears to my eyes 43 years later!

I'd forgotten how well he played the piano until I watched his performance here again. He worked hard at keeping it together for his fans though one could see how it was a bit exhausting for him. The best of the best!!!!He had, had 3 heart attacks by this time. The one side of his heart was 2 times larger than the other. So that's why he had a hard time breathing. I read somewhere that said he was quite a good piano player. A very talented and gifted man.😊

That brought tears to my eyes watching him. He died 6 weeks later. No one comes close to Elvis, he was a gift from God, and his looks, voice, charisma, dancer/mover, and most of all his empathy for others, makes him the "KING" of music. No one could ever come close to his talent, ever. I listen to him sing every day, and his voice is like no other. I will always love him.

Although his voice stays amazing, when I watch Elvis perform in his later years, I have always thought he looked like a man who was ill, not just on drugs. I am from a medical family, and my dad, a doctor, always thought the same thing. He would comment that Elvis looked like he was on cortisone (which I have recently found out he was for his lungs). You have to watch the video, or read the book, Elvis: destined to die young by Sally Hoedel. She is a professional journalist and a lifetime Elvis fan who always questioned why did Elvis, his mom, and her two brothers, have similar deaths and health issues. She did extensive research into Elvis's family health history and found out that his mother's parents were 1st cousins who married, and as a result, passed on several genetic health issues to Gladys, her two brothers, and Elvis. Elvis suffered from a young boy of insomnia, and bowel issues. We now would be able to diagnose that as Hirschsprung's disease (congenital megacolon) causing terrible constipation and abdominal pain. Sally's research clearly documents that Elvis, his maternal grandmother, and mother all had an autoimmune disorder that affected their liver and lungs. Autoimmune diseases are only recently better understood. However, due to the fact that Elvis grew up really below the poverty line for years, they had no access to medical care. In the early 1970's, Elvis's doctor did try to understand why a man of his age would have so many health issues, but the tests that would have discovered his illness were not developed. There were no CT scans, MRI's, ultrasounds, etc. Therefore, they threw the drugs they had available at his symptoms, without really treating the underlying disease. It was only in his autopsy report that they found out he suffered from an auto immune inflammatory process. Did he take prescription drugs, Yes; but, I think unlike an addict who takes drugs to escape life, Elvis was taking them for real medical ailments that neither he, nor his docotrs totally understood, and that he was trying to figure out how to survive and continue to be Elvis. Sally states in her book: "There are eleven main systems in the human body and Elvis endured disorder/disease in nine of them. His heart (circulatory system), his lungs (respiratory system), and his bowels (digestive/excretory systems) required medication. Insomnia affected his nervous system. The adrenal gland failure and resulting low testosterone are both issues of the endocrine system. His immune system was compromised. His urinary system was not functioning properly. The arthritis that caused Elvis severe pain throughout his body impacted his muscular system and skeletal system. There is clearly more at play here than a dependence on prescription medication when more than eighty percent of Elvis’ bodily systems did not function properly. When we add to that the evidence that I have uncovered proving that of those nine, five-the circulatory (heart disease), respiratory (Alpha 1), digestive/excretory (megacolon), nervous (insomnia) and immune (hypogammaglobulinemia)-were present since birth and certainly prior to the prescription drug use that accompanied fame." Elvis dedicated his life to getting his family out of poverty, and keeping them out. At the end of his life he had more than 100 people on his payroll, and I believe that he was a very ill man who was struggling to continue to provide for those he loved, and to give everyone what they wanted--Elvis Presley. I am thankful that Sally has done some interviews that are posted on KZbin, and has written a book that helps us understand the man, and that gives him back his integrity. He was NOT a dope riddled man. He was an ill man trying to survive, and who wanted to continue to bless the world with his unique gifts. Baz Luhrman got this wrong in his movie.

The big what ifs, how far could Elvis have taken his career if he'd lived. I believe he would have reached new heights, James Burton was trying to coax elvis into doing an album of more rock based music which would have been fantastic. One of the things I loved about elvis and his band is how much they just loved playing together, all band members stayed because they lived being with him. Oh dear, this brings back sad memories. I got to see this concert in Indianapolis 1977. His last. Of course we were in the nosebleed section. But, for the chance to see him - we had binoculars. Many songs he couldn’t finish and the backup singers took over. I remember this so clearly. It was, it still brings me to tears. You can see how heavy he was. Trouble breathing. But always the showman. Rest In Peace dear Elvis. We loved yo so much. I just saw the Elvis movie last night. This is the closing video. Sweet Elvis.

Unbelievable performance. Especially considering how unhealthy and sick he looked (I'm not a hater btw. I'm a huge Elvis fan). Who sounds that good when they're sick? Crazy. You should check out his live performance of "Rags to Riches". Live in 1976 (the only live performance he did of it apparently) and he's on the piano there. Similar in style to this video. He seemed to enjoy getting on the piano a bit in the later years which is cool. He also did you'll never walk alone and where no one stands alone at the piano.

Elvis, that voice never failed him! It's hard to watch him in this condition just weeks before he passed. That voice will forever sing!

I loved it.. Beautiful song. No signs that Elvis voice was wearing out at all, if anything he was sounding much better and very strong.. It wasn't that he was so much overweight, but that he was retaining so much fluid and had to take diuretics to get his weight down. After a show and all that sweating he always looked much lighter. He was in great spirits the night he passed looking forward to another tour...

The voice was strong in a lot of aspects around this time but the voice was better all-around in the early sixties is all around range and tone and flexibility will always be at its best in the early sixties crying in the chapel Fame and Fortune surrender those songs prove it Elvis was great in the seventies but his all around town and ability to go high and low and health early 60s Nashville thank you

Very nice reaction John. Back in the UK 1977 we only rarely saw him on the TV so when this performance 'Elvis in Concert' came along 4 1/2 years after 'Aloha in Hawaii' 1973, his physical deterioration was a great shock. What was even more puzzling was the omission of this song from the televised concert - total madness.
