Musician Reacts to Gojira - Silvera

The Gift of a Guilt, live at Brixton Academy is a perfect live performance to start with. It captures musical and vocal range, and you can see how professional they are. I’ve never been into ultra-heavy vocal styles either.. but Joe Duplantier changed my mind. He sings with passion and intensity, and is a brilliant lyricist.

Same, I had initally listened to Flying Whales but I just could not get into the harsh vocal style and always had a disdain for it, but I revisited the band a year later and found that Joe Duplantier's style is so much more different that I originally interpreted. There is actually a melody in those harsh vocals too and since then have never looked back. Gojira I find is one of those bands where you need to be in the right context in your life to appreciate their musicality.

This was definitely on their less-heavy side. Silvera was actually the song that got me into metal. It took me about a year to start liking harsh vocals, and now I even prefer them. Gojira is a master of their craft, not many other bands are as crisp as this band is. Mario duplantier (drummer) is world class

Also, the subject matter of ALL Gojira songs will blow your mind. Any song you check out, read the lyrics. Amazing stuff…environmental.

The album Magma is probably their "softest" work that I've heard, but it's still a great album. His vocals don't change too much in other songs. He still has all the power and harshness in his voice, but always manages to stay in key also. An epic band.

Check the song Pray by them, live at RedRocks, or Stranded Live at Polanrock. You can also probably check one of their 2021 tracks, Another World, or the Chant, they are pretty soft, and full of messages They have amazing song live, and they bring energy in their shows, one of the best band in the metal scene. They are heavy, with a progressive/atmospheric sometimes tribal songs. The drummer, the very talented Mario Duplantier ( brother of the singer Joe) says that he is usually himself in a trance while playing. By the way, I have pretty much the same limit in voice "heaviness", Gojira's singer is guttural, a bit, but not that much, and is way easier to hear than some more metal voices

Just subscribed. Your reaction was actually quite refreshing. Your opinion was spot on. Excellent band. Another couple a bands to try out are. "Wage War" circle the drain. "Imminence" Heaven in Hiding, Erase. And "Architects" Animal, Black Lungs.

I love Gojira, but you should always say what you think! If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. You are doing this for yourself, not for us! Maybe some Pink Floyd is better for you? Pink Floyd - Time This is a good song with really good lyrics. Hope you listen to it! Peace and love ❤️

Floyd is my favorite band ever so I'm quite familiar with most of their stuff. Thought I will likely bring in some guests in the future to do some PF reactions

Try new Found by Gojira. Newer song and it's rides that line between soft and heavy.
