also the other player is an NPC you can summon for the boss fight, some have quest lines that progress only if you bring them in the fights so thats why their is a second person in their. you can also summon another player for co-op :)

2 - "Why is there another hunter here?" - Bloodborne has a coop feature so you can hunt with up to two of your friends, but this is actually Valtr : Master of the League who is an NPC you can acquaint yourself with elsewhere in the game which allows you to beckon him using a special bell for assistance before heading into this fight. A lot of players will summon help to fight Ludwig because he is so aggressive that without very careful timing you end up being trampled constantly. Splitting his attention between two people so the other can attack from behind is very helpful.

Interesting fact. What you hear in Ludwig's ost is Latin. Ludwig's ost is one of the few in Fromsoftware games that actually makes sense in the Latin text (albeit with grammatical errors). The second one who makes sense of the text is Laurence, the First Vicar. This became known thanks to the author of the channel, Antonius Tertius, who directly addressed one of the Bloodborne composers, Ryan Amon. And he clarified about the text. Latin: Lamna! Venator, Prædator, Sanguine in lunæ. Venator, Dominus honorabilium. Gladio sanguine perfundit potulentus. O, venator cum stola candida AH! Lamina erunt et omnes ecclesia. Non perdemus viam nocte, Nec sanguine potulentus... Lamna! O venator, deus sanctus cum a forti candida non vos perdemus viam nocte, nec in sanguine potulentus Cum a forti et stola, non itinere excidatis dominus! Feris maledictus! Catenas maledictus! Factus gladio deus honoratus! Feris maledictus! Catenas maledictus! Solus persona stat in lunæ! Factus lamna! English Translation: Blade! Hunter, predator, blood in the moonlight. Hunter, Honorable lord. Your sword is bathed in blood. O, hunter with white robe. Ah! You shall become the blades of the church. You neither lose your way at night, nor become drunk with blood... Blade! O, hunter of the holy god With a powerfull white sword. You neither lose your way at night nor become drunk with blood! With a powerfull sword and robe, the lord does not fall away (from the path)! Cursed beasts, cursed chains! Become the blade of the honorable god! Cursed beasts, cursed chains! A lone person stands in the moonlight! Become the blade!

1 - "The amount of blood in this arena" - This is the Hunter's Nightmare, which depending how you read the lore is basically Hunter Hell. Ludwig was the first Hunter. The entire realm of the Hunter's Nightmare up until this point has been a twisted path of horrific creatures and madmen woven around this continually running river of blood. At the apex of this river you find Ludwig and the Astral Clocktower. It's symbolism made real by the nightmare. He's where it all started.

It's a purgatory of sorts. Hunters are perpetually bound to fight beasts if they fail the hunt above ground. Compelled to compete for kills. Hence why the hunters residing there are numerous and often get in each others way to clock kills against the beasts in the first section, and also why the landscape and terrain is a warped amalgamation of Cathedral Ward and other particular areas.

slight correction, Ludwig was the first CHURCH Hunter (aka, basically the first officially sanctioned hunter; Gehrman was the first hunter, but he kinda just started it on his own like a vigilante, while Ludwig had the backing of the Healing Church).
@geraldthegoose1685
@geraldthegoose1685 15 күн бұрын
Ludwig was the first of many Healing Church hunters to come, many of whom were clerics. As it was, clerics transformed into the most hideous beasts. Under Ludwig's leadership, the Healing Church gained its own core of hunters. Ludwig trained his hunters to be honorable Spartans, and even trained ordinary Yharnamites (british town folk), effectively uniting the populace and using it to combat the scourge. Ludwig wielded a mystical greatsword that he himself discovered, allowing him to channel the abyssal cosmos. He looked to the sword and the tiny beings of light that surrounded it for guidance, allowing him to empty his fears, even in the middle of a hunt. It is implied the sword is itself sentient to some degree, which influenced Ludwig greatly. Despite seemingly being respected Ludwig had his detractors, who appear to have disagreed with his methods and did not appreciate his hunters. These detractors dismissed Ludwig as a beast-possessed degenerate and he suffered much denigration at their hands. At some point, Ludwig succumbed to the bloodlust and mutated into a horrifying beast, a terrible cross between horse and man. He was trapped in the Hunters nightmare and completely lost himself to the blood. He resided in the Underground Corpse Pile where, by killing countless beasts and hunters in his blind rage, created the blood river which flows through the Nightmare.

@@TeraCMusicIf you check out a lyric video of his theme it becomes even more impressive. Music in fromsoftware tends to have storytelling of it's own too and Ludwig is a prime example. 3 - "Perfect Music Sync" - It is very rare lol, but I find it interesting that in this one the player has voices turned down, which makes me think they were trying to time it intentionally for the music to sync up (If so I wonder how many tries it took). For example you don't really hear Ludwigs "Oh, you were by my side all along, my true mentor, my guiding moonlight".

I love this boss fight. Ludwig is not only regaining his sanity, he has lost himself to beast hood. Your fight with him is a tender mercy. He has to remember who he is in order to fight you. You’re doing him a massive favor. You’re letting him be a hunter again.
@imagnome123

Regarding 'perfect syncs' its rare that they are second-by-second perfect, because depending on how you're fighting the boss you might get him to that point of transition mid-way through a section of music. Theres some pretty sophisticated audio design and layering effects that usually kick in to try and smooth the transition from one section to the other without it feeling too terribly jarring, and it helps if theres a specific cutscene. Ludwig's music just so happens to have that one perfect crescendo at the beginning of The Holy Blade which when it aligns with that split second, its godly.

4 - Finally, I really would love to see your reaction to the Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower fight, as it is so visually tonally opposite of Ludwig's. Of course that's going to also depend a lot on who's playing in the footage I guess. If the player is too aggressive you may not get to see a lot of how she moves.

General Souls-Borne trivia: the weapon Ludwig wields is a variant of "The Moonlight Greatsword", which first appeared in FROM Software's earliest game called King's Field. The "Moonlight Greatsword" has a special attack that fires projectiles a fairly good distance. Since then, some version of the "Moonlight Greatsword" has been in each of FROM Software's games. The sword is generally one of the best in the game, and generally found very late. In Bloodborne, you get the "Holy Moonlight Sword", which is from the base game, and is generally a good weapon, but doesn't have the signature projectile or glow. Ludwig's defeat rewards the player with the ACTUAL "Moonlight Greatsword".

Others have already written Ludwig's lore well, but no one has written why he is there, in the nightmare. well, at a certain point in the story, Ludwig finds himself having to make a choice, the beasts are coming, the people are in a panic trying to save themselves and there is a gate to close. Needless to say, Ludeig decides to close the gate (there is an object in the game that has this function and which tells us that it was waved by the leader of the hunters to open/close the gate of a square), and many people remain outside, prey of beasts. Not surprisingly, before his arena we find a closed gate, and an "enemy" who bangs against it to try to enter; Ludwig himself and his arena are positioned "outside" the gate, symbolizing that that choice damned him, just as all the corpses and the pool of blood symbolize the massacre he caused by closing the gate. As regards its form, it is not possible to say with absolute certainty, but nightmares are not (obviously) a 1:1 copy of reality, and in his case he will probably have merged with his horse, or it is a metaphor of the "mad as a horse" due to the fact that his sword is special and he saw in it a sentient being that danced and/or spoke to him.

Heres a Fun Fact about the DLC Areas for anyone interested! The whole DLC is actually built up just like a Nightmare (duh) but not just the surroundings! The Areas themselves are basically stacked up like a Tower. You can even see an enemy from a deeper/higher level of the nightmare in the first Area which means that when you go higher up you can sometimes even see the lower levels of the Nightmare! Theres even a Boss that is named after the Part of the Brain that processes Emotions, Dreams and yes you guessed it Nightmares and it's called the Amygdala!

what a sad ending for Ludwig. Ludwig, the Holy Blade, was a knight of the Healing Church in Bloodborne. However, the Beast Plague corrupted him, transforming him into a monstrous creature. He became a terrifying force, hunting both beasts and hunters in Yharnam. Despite his monstrous form, glimpses of his former nobility sometimes emerged, adding a tragic element to his legend.

The boss & arena design, the dialogues, the cutscenes and the MUSIC makes this boss amazing. But perhaps the most underrated part about this is the significance of it: - You are a hunter, in a way, following the footsteps of Ludwig, the FIRST church hunter. - Ludwig is repeatedly mentioned in the game. He even had 2 of the weapons (sword & rifle) are named after him. - This fight is symbolic. It shows even the best of hunters can fall prey to the bloodlust. - You put him to rest, inherit his legendary sword & put an end to the nightmare.

The music will always transition properly in Ludwig's fight because of the cutscene; the music will quickly fade out no matter where it is and then the choir comes in for the second phase. Even on non cutscene bosses the music usually transitions well enough. The only time it doesn't is when you're doing a lot of damage. In the video of Gascoigne you watched the player was in New Game plus. On early new game plus cycles Gascoigne doesn't scale well when you have end game weapons; his fight will be much easier and go much quicker than a fresh character with a low level weapon. So sometimes the music will lag behind. It's funny because Fromsoft seemingly noticed this because on Elden Ring tracks there's usually a pause in between the different phases or the bosses transition with a cutscene.

I realize you're likely being flooded with these sorts of comments, and I apologize if this is overstepping it, but I think it would be interesting to see you view the fights with Laurence and Amelia back-to-back. See, Laurence is the first Vicar, the founding father of the Church. Amelia is the _last_ Vicar, the last one that will likely ever exist. When you find her, she's literally prostrating herself like a beggar, praying to Laurence's skull relic for some form of guidance. But what Amelia doesn't know is that same guidance she prays for was what caused the Beast Plague in the first place. At any rate, they're great mirrors of each other. Technically, yes, Amelia shares a boss theme with the unnamed Cleric Beast, but it's more accurate to say that the CB uses _her_ boss theme. Amelia's and Laurence's themes are made to directly be companion pieces with each other, and their fights especially.

@@TeraCMusicPersonally I recommend a version that doesn't drown out the beasts' roars, but that mostly has to do with the fact that Amelia is the only beast who's not just screaming jibberish; she's actually screaming "GET OUT!" and "OUT!" to you over and over, and overall is notable for being one of the most lucid beasts we know of. Fortunately, Ansari's video on Amelia specifically seems to account for that!

Yay, probably the most iconic boss music in BloodBorne. Well it's perhaps a toss-up for me between this one and the Lady Maria one. As for the music sync between stages thing, to be honest I have never been bothered by it while playing these FromSoftware games but I've been wondering how they made it generally work so well. My first guess is that there is some effort in getting down the timing of when the transition generally happens in the fight scene, and perhaps compose the music based on that. And then on top of that, timing the actual musical transition to the bar or beat of the music. In my own modest attempts at game development I always had a separate execution thread that would time certain events to the beat (or bar) of the music to make the visuals work together with the music. Anyway, I should probably dig more into how FromSoftware games might be doing this stuff. Anyway (and as an aside) I do appreciate the lack of background music in the reaction parts in here, having it only in the outro/conclusion is a more natural format to my ears in that regard :) Happy holidays!

Theres lot of great ost, tracks in fromsoft games. From my experience for playing almost all of them, most noticeable and grandish second phase ost is (imo) lichdragon fortissax and dancing lion from elden ring. Maybe its coz that the elden ring came last that i forgot some of the older boss osts. But the most popular ones from ds3 are the vordt of boreal valley, soul of cinder, abyss watchers etc. Fromsoft doesnt have bad ost so it would be near impossible to react all of them. Probably taking suggestions is best way to react some of the great osts.

Bloodborne is SO GOOD! If you like perfect music syncs, look no farther than another Fromsoft title, Elden Ring! On average the game is a lot more cinematic in terms of fights and presentation, and I love it to death. One good fight/OST is Malenia, Blade of Miquella. I don't know a single person who's blood didn't run cold when the music for phase 2 kicked in (and then you get unceremoniously kicked-in by the boss after! Lmao)

@@methanoI yes you are correct however saying "lul git gud" or "skill issue" is the absolute bottom of the barrel form of "criticism". It would be one thing if bro was chilling at the entrance and letting the npc do all the work but he is actively trying to get into the mix. Then there is the other side that believe having the npc is harder because the boss is switching between targets. I am not about to start arguing over the use of npcs on a video about someone wanting to see what the fight looks like with the music added especially not on Christmas so we are just gonna have to agree to disagree 🤝
