I saw them the first time on AMA 2021 when they absolutely stole the show. And that's when my Maneskin's rabbit hole has begun, fell in love with them the hard way lol

Regarding Beggin, the band themselves said that the song is like an embarrassing video from your childhood that your parents show everyone. They are happy that it went viral because it opened many doors, but they feel like it does not represent their current sound anymore. So I definitely do not think it is their idea to play that song on every American tv appearance, especially as they were in the middle of promoting an actual new single - Mammamia. Now whether the choice is made by the label, management or the individual shows they perform on I cannot tell.

I don't know for certain but I think when they are booked a show will approach them with a preference- Beggin' is trending all over the US so it makes sense for the AMAs to want them to perform that because it would pull the biggest audience. On Jimmy Fallon they did Beggin' which was promoted but they also did Mammamia. Similarly with the SiriusX radio ones they did Beggin' and Mammamia and IWBYS but they released Beggin' first to pull the audience then the other two later. So I think it depends whether a show want the artist or a specific audience pulling song. So I imagine they're accepting this is the key to get their name out there in the US so next time they can be back to play their originals. I've also heard the American music scene moves a lot slower than the european scene so hit songs stick around a lot longer whereas european charts have gone through a few of their songs already. (This is just my guess though.)

It's like a lot of artist who release a album early in the year and by between late fall and early the next year they are on single # 3. AMA is about what the fans vote for and the Grammys are by "heavily influenced" Academy votes. So they want the biggest hit from that year. That's why we see those performances where the artists will negotiate starting with the most popular song and finish with their current single... Maneskin just played SNL recently and did Beggin (and Mamamia). Their cover of Beggin was my first real introduction to them and it made me want to hear more. In a few more months people will want to hear just their new stuff. Then when they go somewhere new like Japan they might be asked to play Beggin again if it's the hit they're known for.

You should check torna a casa the unplugged version, coraline from virgin radio france, la paura del buio from radio italia, for your love from 1live. Damiano is such a strong and versatile voice, not just grit like you comment on every performance. He can rap, belt out notes, he can sing latino, rock and so much more. Every time you overlook the key ingredient which is his voice.

I love that they released Mammamia as it is partly a comment to Eurovision and everything that happened there, but at the same time I can see why it wouldn’t hit off in the US because of that. And that could be why they perform Beggin there more often instead. There are quite a few references in the song that probably Europeans would pick up on easier and appreciate the song a little extra for. To others it’s perhaps ”only” a catchy song.

@@JacobRestituto basically after they won ESC some country (France IIRC) accused Damiano to be drunk/high on drugs that night and he had to actually take tests to prove that he was 100% sober. So when he sings "I swear that I'm not drunk, and I'm not taking drugs. They ask me why I'm so hot, 'cause I'm Italiano" its a literal dig to his accusers.

Its always fun to see you react to them and actually hearing more technical info of their music, its really interesting ! Thank you for that. Oh and, another little anecdote for the international fans: Damiano was criticized by a conservative italian senator for his outfit at the EMAs. So the singer commented on his own instagram with "You are right, next time tux and paPillon", a word play on papillon (one of the ways we call the bowtie in italian) and Pillon, the surname of the Senator. Well... a few days later at AMAs, the whole band wore tux and bowties.

You want to watch their performances?.. check 'Paura la buio' (radio Italia live) 'For your Love' (live 1 session) ant 'Amandoti' at Sanremo... (although it's a cover.. it's a very Impressive Måneskin-song how they performed it) but also check their Italian songs! They have some amazing music- video's! And 'Coraline' you have to check with lyric-translations. That's something you will not often have experienced!

You mixed some information. you have to look for 1Live. The concert was published by the broadcasting station WDR, which is based in Köln ( Cologne, not Berlin). If you search for a concert in Berlin, you might get the slightly messed up recording of that tiktok concert (technical difficulties, he could, not hear anything from the headphones, which is apparently a nightmare on stage)
