I’m not sure if it’s really that people enjoy it less but the biggest reason people love BTS so much is because of their lyrics and they are genuinely humble hardworking guys. Their lyrics are about self love, working hard, youth and female empowerement, mental health, cyber bullying and friendship. They have literally saved people with their music, I have seen so many story’s of people saying they helped them from commiting suicide or depression. Just wanted to shine a light on that! People can be sensitive when it comes to BTS because they have dealt with a lot of hate and racism and they are just 7 guys who make music and bring positivity into the world. Thanks for your reaction

Yes they are truly the reason i am still on this earth rn 100% along with Park Hyo Shin and Shinee as i did have really bad depression even now its still there but the music helps me see through that to what overall is truly important which is the ability to Fully Express and Love yourself. I also would say with watching videos and reading lyrics Alot of armies have developed the skill to do both simultaneously it just kind of happens eventually

This song is a life saver. When BTS talks with us, they give us words of encouragement and they also do this with many of their songs. Think of the Magic Shop is a place you can go and you can let your troubles melt away. A place where you can look up into the sky and dream. A place where you can kick off your shoes and not be judged by the world. A place to go meet your friends. A place where you are protected.

The fun fact about the Army Bombs, light sticks which are programmed to your seat via blue tooth would change colors and write out words through out the concert so people are part of the performance. The light sticks also can be programmed to interact their recent Online live concerts as well. So your comment regarding "it must suck to be sitting in the section where the lights were dark spelling out BTS" cracked me up! Haha! The Magic shop was performed as the 4th song in their 2018 Love yourself world tour! They sung 24 songs and 3 encore songs for a total of 27 songs without any opening acts!

From what they've said about their songwriting process, usually they receive the demo track from their own in-house production team at their label or an outsider, unless a member comes prepared with a track. They typically have a story they already want to tell in an album, so they look for/create instrumentals based on the lyrics they want to write. Their instrumentals are VERY tied to the lyrics. They don't just put words to random instrumentals. Once they decide on tracks, the members then write individually. They've even said they can't really work on music together. Obviously they talk about it in between, but they don't literally sit down and just write together in one sitting. They usually prefer to share the finished product rather than the work-in-progress. For composing and lyrics, they've said how it's like a song writing camp where the members and the in-house team "compete" for whose melodies and lyrics are chosen, but it's all done respectfully and with everyone seen as equals. Everyone has to universally agree. Once the majority of the composing/lyrics are chosen with the near finished instrumental, they all come together with their team and universally discuss/agree on the final touches. BTS' main producer is named Pdogg, and he is AMAZING! He's produced most of BTS' tracks, and if the group receives tracks from outsiders, he still is the main guy who oversees it and finishes it up. He's won multiple production awards for working with BTS. Then of course, BTS write/compose 95% of their own songs, with a handful of their tracks produced by members. They do more writing/composing over producing for group stuff, but they mostly produce their own solo stuff outside of BTS. Also, that song was #4 on the setlist, lmao. They just went to change. They literally take 20 minutes to say goodbye at concerts, it's a whole thing.

BTS have a kind of structure with their concerts, they start of with a really hype song, followed by 2-3 more songs (most of the time they're still super groovy/vibey), and then they have 2 member solos, a couple group songs, 2 more member solos, a group song and then a medley (on their world tours, they usually have 2 sets of medleys which they will perform), another group song, 1 or 2 more member solos, one group song, the last 2 member solos--connecting to subunits (vocal and rap line usually), and then they end the concert with 1 last group song. That's kind of the official part, but they always get changed into comfy clothing and come back on stage for a few songs (this too everyone knows about, it's not like a sometimes they do it sometimes they don't, it's just that they call it the encore--but no one leaves their seats until after they bow and fireworks go off (on their stadium tours))

They've said that with lyrics it's almost like a competition between all of them. For example if they've already completed the song and just need the lyrics, the members who want to, write the lyrics they want and then "submit" them. Then higher ups like their boss choose what they think is best. However the rappers always write their own verses. Also, RM is known amongst the members and army to be the best songwriter so his lyrics get chosen a LOT I personally find lyrics super important, especially when listening to bts songs, so usually when new music comes out I first just listen to the song without lyrics and then listen to it again while reading the lyrics at the same time. I just prefer knowing exactly when they say certain things and what the music sounds like at that point lol Magic Shop was actually performed somewhat close to the beginning of the concert, it was the 4th song in out of the 23 songs in the setlist.

All members write lyrics but the majority have been done by RM and Suga. When it's a rap song, the 3 rappers each write their own verse. Before BTS, the Kpop standard group dynamic was usually singers + 1 rapper with a normal popish song with a rap break. BTS used a different dynamic with 3 rappers, and the songs generally break down into 3 verses (1 for each rapper) with only the hook/chorus sung by the 4 vocalists. Because of their song makeup, it allows them to perform live much better. Before BTS it was the standard (and accepted) to lipsync on stage or have an extremely loud backing track, but BTS's smart verse/chorus distribution, it allows them to have minimal to no backing track and always sing live.

It is so good and has caused so many people to accuse them of lip syncing. Our boys never lip sync even when executing difficult choreography. They have such stable voices that they always sound incredible. The thing about reading the lyrics is also understanding the meaning. This song is emotional to so many people because it deals with mental health and coping with life problems. Young people especially identify with having a door to their heart where they can enter the magic shop to seek refuge and receive comfort.

Lol that’s over half the group writing on this track alone and our youngest jk helping produce it ! They all have different things they’re working on and build from their... suga writes like 300 songs a year lol Or V had a song that he was working on as a solo song and someone heard it and thought it would be a good group song so they switched it up and made it work as a group song for 7... When a song first comes out I just vibe with it. Then I go back and dive into the lyrics. Once I know the song meaning I just vibe. Sometimes I will learn the Korean lyrics especially if it's on a concert set list. I usually pick up some of them anyways. I've been ARMY since 2016. I think this was in Kpso Dome in Seoul for the Love Yourself Speak Yourself world tour in 2019 approx. 44,00 people for 3 sold out nights over 120,000 at that venue alone. I think that tour had over 1 million fans attend worldwide grossing over $246 m. Something crazy like that. Always sold out. This was the final song of the encore. They usually have a setlist of approx. 23 songs and the concerts last nearly 3 hours. No opening acts. They are amazing live performers! I've attended 4 concerts and have 2 sets of tickets for 2 cities when the postponed tour is rescheduled. Ticket prices are really reasonable, like $69 to $250 plus fees each. Floor seats in total end up around $330 if you can snag them in the original sake. Resale tickets are crazy expensive!!

For BTS albums, its a cohesive process. They start with an album theme. From there, the members produce beats/propose melodies and submit them to their in-house Exec Producer. The submissions by the BTS members will be pooled with other in-house producers and/or external producers. They will then choose the best one they think fits their theme. Once they've chosen a beat, the producer/composer, their Exec Producer and the BTS members will go back and forth and submit demos and make changes as necessary until theyre satisfied with the track. once the track is complete, the members write lyrics based on the theme given and again submit that to their exec producer. they will then choose the lyrics that works best for the song and the theme. The rappers usually write/perform their own parts. However, they sometimes exchange parts if they think that specific part will be best delivered by someone else. the same is true for the vocalists.. All the vocalists will sing the entire song, do their own adlibs and then they will choose the parts that best suits them.. For their mixtapes (RM, AGUSTD, Hope World, mono and D-2) and solo songs they post on soundcloud, they have more control since they consider it as personal solo projects. For these, the members do everything themselves from production to lyric writing, supervise mixing and all the good stuff.

Most Kpop groups have distinct light sticks, so in awards shows and industry specials you're able to see all the group's represented by their fans. Personally, though I stan many groups other than BTS, I only own the ARMY bomb myself. Suckers are close to $100 bucks a pop!!! Trust me when I say, stanning Kpop is an EXPENSIVE hobby!!! The light sticks can also be taken over by the concert production team through bluetooth, so at different points, different colors are displayed and often words are dispersed throughout the crowd such as BTS, ARMY, etc.. With BTS, purple is seen a lot and has special meaning. Phrases such as "I purple you" and "borahae" bind us together and relates to the mutual love between BTS and ARMY. V coined the phrases and they relate to the rainbow. You can look up V explains borahae, if you want. I'm sure you've seen purple 💜💜💜💜 dispersed throughout your comment section. That's how we show our love to each other and ties to the phrases and meanings behind them. Rap line usually write their own raps and sometimes vocal line will write their own melodies. All seven compose, write and produce (though Suga, RM and Hobi have the most credits under their belts. Suga has even said that he writes about 300 songs per year, so...) Finally, I listen and watch a video first to get a feel and honest reaction. I then watch again to look for easter eggs and meaning via visuals and finally, on the third or fourth go, I put on the captions and read the lyrics. After this I go find a lyric video and FINALLY come back on the sixth run to tie everything together and just fan-girl, lol. A bit much, but it is what it is!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I hope this was helpful!

I listen to the song and try to read the lyrics at the same time. When the translated lyrics don't match the melody I finish listening to the whole song first, then listen again pausing to get the full meaning. Then when I listen again I can match the vibe and korean lyrics to the meaning. Sometimes if I am streaming there are no lyrics available so I watch lyric videos after listening to the songs. Like you mentioned the music, vocals and melodies are so good they transcend language. But it hits different, deeper when you understand the message. 💜Love your reactions, Jacob.

BTS's songs has healing properties, that's for sure! BTS is magicians in turning the messages they want to deliver with the type of music they prefer. That's why the language barrier is not a barrier at all. As an ARMY, I have BTS playlists for every occasion: BTS for work out, BTS for studying, BTS for driving, BTS for reading time, etc :) also, there's literally thousands of BTS's song covers and playlists on YT by amazing musicians. Highly encourage you to look and discover it! Great reaction btw,, !!

I don't know about other ARMYs, but as an Asian, I was TRAINED to read subtitle with super fast speed ever since I knew how to read LOL coz that's how I'm watching all those AMERICAN - CHINESE - INDIAN movies, JAPANESE animes, then KOREAN dramas up until now. With JPOP/KPOP though, especially BTS, I'll always put the caption on everytime I saw their MV's OR if it isn't available yet in their official MV, there tons of fan who will upload the subtitle video whereas I could read the translated lyrics and sing along the song at the same time. That way, when they're singing live, i'll just vibe in and enjoying their performances :)

As a long time ARMY, whenever BTS lets say, releases a new music video, I will watch the video without subtitles, and then on my second round of it with subtitles. Then once Doolset has the lyrics up (because you really should only trust Doolset or BTS themselves) I'll read the translation. Going back to the songs sometimes I will put subs on and sometimes i wont. Some songs I know so well that without subs I alrdy know what they are saying, like 2!3! and Spring Day. But.. It is a HUGE disservice to BTS to not look at the lyrics. They put so much thought and time into the lyrics. RM does livestreams where he talks about the writing process of some songs, what things happened that lead him to write a song and it's beautiful. The metaphors that he uses are just.. they are beautiful. He even will take the way Korean is written and use the way a letter is changed for a phrase in a song. Doolset goes in depth on explaining Korean meanings to the lyrics, and you can always tell when RM is coming up because there are massive explanations on a single line.

The light sticks are actually controlled by the crew members back stage by bluetooth so they control what color the light sticks is going to be during the show like blue, red, etc to fit the mood of the song and some times to make messages in the audience, thats why it looked like they didn’t have light sticks.

My mind is honestly trained to read lyrics and grasp whats going on otherwise. It took me a bit but the mind eventually gets trained like that. It is astoundingly helpful when you get past that 1 inch barrier of subtitle. The experience of especially a BTS song is consummate when you are grasping everything altogether. Not to mention, it will help you in watching movies and shows in other languages too. The door to some superb content gets opened to you once you get comfortable reading subs. Thank you for your reactions. 💜

I've always thought that about the song and it's literally song like 4 in the line up. They came straight out of the gate with really upbeat songs then they play magic shop before taking a short break and it ramps back up. Their concert structure is actually really nice. I've always enjoyed it when I've gone to see them. They organize it really well but explaining how would defeat the purpose since you're not familiar with enough of the songs or their many styles of music. You have to remember that their music spans almost a decade at this point and the concerts tend to hit on most of the albums. It's usually a 2 and a half to 3 hour concert

Personally for me, music is all about the vibes. When I first listen to BTS songs, I always listen to it without lyrics first. Reading the lyrics distracts me from the overall song which I don't appreciate. Sometimes you don't need the lyrics to evoke an emotion. The first time I listened to Whalien 52 I legit cried even without knowing what the song truly meant. Afterwards, I go back and listen with lyrics once I already have a general feeling for the song. I really only do this with BTS songs because their lyrics usually have a deeper meaning than most others.

It is said that if an ARMY got lost in a foreign country, they only need to shout "so show me" & it is highly possible that they will hear someone shouting back "I'll show you". Watch a lyric only video. It highlights who is singing which line. Then watch a live performance. The live performances give them a chance to stretch their voices/phrasing/ad-libs, etc. This particular song is written for the ARMYs (their fans!! Like me!! 51-year old ARMY!!!) I would also recommend The Truth Untold, lyrics first and then a live performance. You will be amazed how they absolute silence of the ARMYs during the performance.

The rappers write their own parts and the vocalist is are now writing songs. This song is mostly written by JungKook. Jimin has the highest voice, Taehyung is a baritone yet sings with the tenors just fine! I listen to the songs, watch the songs and eventually learn to understand what they are singing about. Usually cry! Oh...and I am a 61 year old ARMY....thank you granddaughter! The lights are actually light sticks that you buy. They are blue tooth and you enter in your seat number and section a d someone manages the light sticks so they spell words, change colors and make a beautiful rainbow....as these boys are 100% LGBTQ supporters. Fun Fact: when George Floyd was murdered and the world got involved in BLM movement...BTS donated $1 million USD and in 1 day Army’s (fandom name) from around the world matched that and more! I love being apart of this fandom!even at 61, I have grown as a human being and have stopped sweating the small stuff!

The rappers are the ones who are mainly involved exspecially rm in lyrics writing and suga in production. They work like a music camp if one produces a beat they sent it to the company other members or bighit producers work on it if they find it intresting, different people write lyrics at the same time but at time of making the album they collect all of these different works and incorporate the best out of those. It is like they filter. This is the main reason all the albums and songs sounds different from each other. They feed of each others work like in a good way and choose the best.

Most of us have probably listened to each song when it comes out at least 2 or 3 times. You listen to the song first (if it's not a MV) then you look up the lyrics, then you listen to the song with the lyrics. If you are going to listen to music like this in a language like Korean it's not really ever going to match the cadence you are just going to have to adjust. What you learn as a listener of Korean music especially if you pay attention to the lyrics, there are words in both languages (english and korean) that dont have corresponding words in the other language, the same also goes for letters and sounds. So what you get especially in english translations many times are equivalent words and those words probably aren't going to flow in the music because technically that isn't what they said. As I said, it's something you have to resign yourself to if you are going to invest in BTS' music because their lyrics are so integral to the song. As many have mentioned, they all write music but their main songwriter is RM. The rappers always write their lyrics for each song usually (example dynamite they didnt cause it was just a repetition thing) but RM is their most proficient writer. BH also has in-house song writers whose names pop up a lot: P-Dogg, Adora, Slow Rabbit, Hitman Bang (the company's CEO) etc. They also do much of their own production. You'll see the guys names but especially P-Dogg. It's a close group but they of course have done songs from outside writers and producers like DJ Swivel and the song 'Euphoria" or Troye Sivan and Ed Sheeran. About BTS' concerts. They usually perform to crowds of around 40-60k averagely. There are some stadiums that were bigger and some that were a bit smaller. But arena/stadium shows are roughly averaged to that. The dark places you saw were dark on purpose. The lights in the crowd are called army bombs (it's part of Idol music culture for each group to have a lightstick for them) and when you go to a concert, you sync it up with an app and during certain parts of the concert the BTS staff changes your bomb to spell out stuff or if there are colors associated with songs etc.

if i'm not mistaken, Magic Shop was in the 1st set of the concert. when they write the lyrics of their song, the rappers usually write their own verse as what RM mentioned years ago. the vocal line's solo song lyrics such as Awake (Jin), Lie (Jimin), Stigma (V) and Begin (Jungkook) were written by each vocalist. the rest mostly were co written and composed by either the rap line or the rest of the members along with their in-house producers. each member writes and composes numerous lyrics and melodies. they would submit it to the company and let their CEO Bang PD take a look and listen to them and he would the one to sort out and pick the best songs to release for the specific album then everybody would work on it to make them as phenomenal if not more than their previous songs. BTS have a say in everything that's why they don't have conflicts with their agency. their CEO is like their eldest brother if not a very cool father to them hence contibutes greatly to BTS'success. and yes, when BTS perfirm live, you don't want it to end! BTS are the greatest performers alive. BTS is the best! there's nothing like BTS!
