Thanks for the update on how it's going with you and the group. When you were born you were a blessing to your parents. When you came on KZbin... you became a blessing to us, your viewers. Have a great weekend. I'm about in Damascus V.A going Mt biking on the Creeper Trail.
@miamorrismusic6 жыл бұрын
:) Our family used to bike a bunch together. We'd go on city rides and only trails once or twice a year but it was at least once a week for 10 years. We started on tag-a-longs and would do big organized night rides with hundreds of tricked out lit up bikes and music. That has gone to more like once a month now that my brother is driving but I've got so many fond memories of rides. I got turned on to Primus on rides!!! Ha - that's funny... Have a great ride :)

Now that sounds like it was/is really cool, what a great family event. The 13 of us had a fantastic time all made it safe. If you have not been on the Creeper Trail in Damascus V.A I highly recommend your family doing this. Trail is in great shape.

The power of Nashville. I mentioned that in my remote neck of the woods, long ago, that the guitar players always carried a copy of a music biz mag. There were ads for people who wanted to submit songs for sale. A young woman sold one for about $50. It got picked up and recorded by an artist. Others tried but had no success. The same girl sold a couple more but they didn't get recorded. It helps to be at the centre of your business.

Ask a lot of questions, to learn but also because people love to hear themselves talk. In an interview situation, ask probing questions that you either know the answers to or for clarification of just what it is that will be expected of you. Never be afraid to pick up the phone or just show up and go to their office and introduce yourself. I think of the scene in the movie wall street with Charlie Sheen AKA Bud Fox persisting to meet Gordon Gecko. It finally happened, he made a lot of money then went to jail. Ha.

Hey Mia. Sorry, I haven't abandoned you, just been busy. I respect your humility, and the fact that you are so willing to pay your dues for your shot at the big time, but you are easily as talented as some of those artists and more talented than most of them. It's awesome that you have these opportunities, but don't be afraid to step up and say that you are capable of more. I know that you're young and have a lot to learn about the music industry, but you are a real force, girl. I'm sure that your parents are keeping your progress in check, and that's just good parenting, but run, Mia! Break the chains! Seriously, produce an album. If I'll buy it, so will thousands of others. Once people become aware of you, the sky's the limit, dear. I know that you consider yourself a drummer primarily, but so do Phil Collins and Dave Grohl. You get my point. You'll get there regardless, but I feel that you could take longer strides on your path to success. We'll all be watching anxiously despite how long it takes. You're awesome, woman! Peace
@miamorrismusic6 жыл бұрын
That is a motivating comment!! Thanks for your confidence in me and even more thank you for your true support. Sometimes I'm busting to go but I talk about the business and the bigger picture quite a bit with my folks and more often than not, I feel like the smart approach is to try to put off my chances until I'm so prepared that it's really more of a formality. I don't know if that's really a possibility but if I could learn from all these people I play for and have all this experience where it's not me that is getting passed on? Seems like I'm usually the youngest one in the room anyway so maybe now is the time to grind and keep quietly learning and improving. I guess what I'm saying is, I feel like I might get a chance some day and I want to make it an easy decision for whoever gives me that chance.

Thanks for the cool video, Miss Morris :-) Shame you can't play bass & drums at the same time! - no offence to the drummer but you'd kill it! Still waiting for your UK tour announcement.. :-(

Yeah.. I gotta say. I think he'll be good, but he did not show up as prepared as I would.. ever. No news on the UK leg so far :)

Hi Mia. You look and sound awesome Totally in control. I have nothing funny or silly to post this week as I'm at my college wrestling team reunion. But I did listen to 8 straight hours of Sirius XM channel 18 The Beatles. I am the eggman. You are the Walrus. And the Walrus was Paul. There's another clue for you all.
@miamorrismusic6 жыл бұрын
That station gets around 30% of all my road trip attention. It's always a great option. "I could be the Walrus. It still wouldn't change the fact that I have to bum rides to school." I love that movie and it's a true statement for me :)

As in, Runs in the Family? I'm listening to it right now. You would like the Lumineers and Brandie Carlile if you like this one. They are two of my very favorites. There is some great Americana / folk music still coming out today. Good song - thanks

I knew you would like it.... Im regretfully by choice very very picky about female vocal artists and music in general - my Roche favs 1 Quitting Time 2 On The Road to Fairfax County 3 My Winter Coat ...hope you have time to really check into them - they are so good on the harmoneez and song writing genius.....glad your so busy and looks like your going to be faymus :P

I am not a big fan of the Song Suffragettes but I was able to "suffer" thru it ha ha. News flash suffragettes, women can vote in public elections now ha ha. Nice work Mia. I hope I can see you sometime in my hometown.
@miamorrismusic6 жыл бұрын
I don't listen to much of this type of music except when I'm playing for these guys but meeting all of these artists and writers as they come through Nashville has been a huge deal for me so far. Coming up with parts on the fly to songs I've never heard before, in front of a big crowd... then going to middle school the next morning..! I'm gonna learn a lot along the way about song structure, performing.. Anyway, I'm clearly rambling.. and tired. I hope I play in your hometown as well :) And it will be louder than a show with the SS's - I promise :) - Goodnight.
@davidjames16846 жыл бұрын
Yes that would make me very nervous too not knowing the songs ahead of time. You are for sure getting good experience and building your confidence. As far as song structure, my recommendation is to have a clear bridge section that has a high contrast from the chorus (possibly both in rhythm and even key), and for each different chorus, change it up a little like add something each time you go back to it to build it up, for example, in your great song Something There, add a tambourine for the last chorus. You are doing quite well for your age so keep going. I am a fan.

Holy Gigs McGigason! Great job, kid...you're definitely in the right city for pursuing a music career. Here in Vancouver, the live music scene is kinda crap.

Ok, after looking once again at female drummers and seeing none of them were interesting to watch, not that they were not good! I ask myself this question, what is it YOU and SINA do that separates you from others? The obvious comments have said alot of truth many times, then it came to me, no one else seen it. YOU and SINA know how to bring the drums to LIFE wow soo hypnotic, fascinating, interesting. No others possesse that interest. One with the drums! I read the comments and responses and Im going to have to say on behalf of your best...Don't ever give up the drums. We're not going to give up on you. I'm going to be on the side line cheering you on ! Have a great time tonight... You work hard at what you do and the results are showing. I'm looking foward to Friday. What, another pizza...ha ha ha.

None of us seem to want that.. I would totally go for a half day starting next year but I would miss my friends even if it is during social studies. I'm really not sure they allow that sort of thing in TN public schools.

Mia did you see the original part of the stage? I think it's in a circle. A whole lot of famous people have stood on that part of the stage. They rebuilt the stage but keep that circle for the history part of it. I knew you would make it, you are doing great. Wish I could buy ya a frosty on me. Oh well you take care. =^•^=. P.S. Post us a picture of you standing on that part of the stage.
@miamorrismusic6 жыл бұрын
I was told about the circle but that part of the stage is in front of the curtain when it's down between acts. That picture is going to have to wait until I'm part of the show... :)

Check out Carter Beauford!! Hes an amazing drummer!!
@miamorrismusic6 жыл бұрын
Love him. DM has been on the list just never my final choice yet. He's really a pain in the butt about playing any sort of repeating kick pattern which is a problem for someone like me that likes the idea of getting the parts really tight... He just jams along. Which is awesome, just tough to memorize.
@chrisjenkins82076 жыл бұрын
Awesome! If you havent already check out Danny Carey and Steven Perkins!! Also great drummers. Take care and good luck!

I think the light has a strange effect on your eyes. Maybe it's an effect of your sweater and the camera lens. The colour of your baby blues keeps switching back and forth from blue to the green richness of a new mown lawn!
