The whole story about this girl is simply amazing. From giving her shoes to a homeless girl when she was 6, to realizing one of her dreams at 8 years old (singing at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony) to being personally called by Quincy Jones asking her to open the show in London for his 85th birthday party. Also, the youngest published author in Norway. The list of truly incredible things this girl has done and achieved is endless. At 5 years old, she would have walked on stage in front of 100,000 people with absolutely no fear. She knows how good she is, but absolutely humble. You saw her soft side, check out "I put a spell on you" at 9 yrs 2 mo. in black and white in the studio for her in her only "Beast mode" video. It's been said it was exhausting for her. Welcome to Angelina's world. It isn't actually a joke about wanting to sing for Simon. She actually told her mom when she was 3 that she wanted to sing for Simon. Angelina has performed over 140+ covers and other videos that she has recorded between the ages of 6 and 15 which is her current age. She has already established herself as an accomplished Jazz artist. Her preferred genre is Jazz but she has done covers of about every genre you can name. What you will find in Angelina is a vocalist who doesn't do vocal gymnastics, she simply and beautifully interprets the story and meaning of the song and pours her soul into every performance. Angelina has sung all over the world for Nobel Laureates, heads of state, music icons, and other dignitaries. She has performed everywhere from small weddings of a few people, to London's O2 stadium, and Seoul South Korea with 40,000 people. She performs at jazz festivals, conferences, and charity benefits. At the age of 15, she is a seasoned performer with 8 years of recording and performing. Many of her live performances when she was 10, 11, and 12 years old blow away even the original adult performers of the songs she sings. She is definitely worth your time to experience and get to know. She wanted to sing for Simon not because she wanted him to 'shred her' but because she wanted to blow his socks off. She knew how good she was at 7. Confidence has never been an issue for her. Simon was correct when he said that he had never heard that version, Angelina re-arranged it for the performance. She does this with many of her cover songs. Her fans call it "Angelina-fying" a song. The lady who first stood and clapped at the end of Angelina's performance was her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani. On her right was Angelina's mother, Sara Astar, then Juliette, her sister and then her uncle, Michael Astar who is also her Manager. Heidi Klum hit the Golden Buzzer. So Angelina went straight to the Final, where she performed Elton John's classic "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road".¡ My introduction to Angelina was on her first appearance at Norway's Got Talent and I didn't expect much from a 7-year-old. Just a cute little girl, all nervous, rushing the song in parts, hesitating and then stumbling over or forgetting her words and generally acting her age and doing her best to get through a childish song like "Twinkle, twinkle little star". Well, it was a seven-year-old child who appeared on the stage. She was small and had wild hair and gaps in her mouth, where there once were baby teeth. My first surprise was how she confidently answered questions put to her by one of the judges. She showed no signs of nerves and when she was asked what song she was going to perform, she declared she was going to sing a song by the legendary Billie Holiday. Then she gestured off-stage for the technician to start the music and started singing. Yeah! The body of the 7-year-old child was still there, but the voice wasn't. It was that of a 40-50 year old black woman who had been singing for decades. That first moment of surprise has been experienced many times since then. I have followed her career since I saw that first video on KZbin and in the years she has been singing publicly she has mastered many musical genres, including Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Soul, EDM and Rock and covered songs first performed by many famous singers, like Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Lana del Ray, Avicii, Bill Withers, Gloria Gaynor, Andy Williams, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and many others: in total over 220 different songs and 82 different performers. She takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. She never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. She has the innate ability not only to sing a song as emotionally as the song deserves but to be able to communicate those same emotions to the listener. When you listen to her there is the feeling that you are the object of her attention. She is singing for you alone. I have listened to every interview she has given and every documentary about her and every performance she has ever given. What I will never understand is how a very shy and humble girl in her normal life, can be transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing, once she starts to sing. Although the gift of singing and all her performances appear to be effortless, Angelina works very hard to ensure that the one she is going to record reflects what she sees as the correct way to meld both lyrics and melody. 13 year old Angelina created a genius arrangement for one of the most beloved songs on Earth then delivers a flawless performance on one of the world's biggest stages. Angelina is a true music prodigy but the only one who specializes in vocals. While most vocalists need to belt to showcase their talent, Angelina is at her best singing softly with ultimate control of her beautiful voice. As talented as Angelina is, she is an even better human being, humble and filled with empathy. Please take the time to read the biography I compiled for her. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farsi, English and Japanese. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7. Angelina at age 6 and 7 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. Angelina is blessed with a deep voice with a beautiful rich tone and has always made her sound much older than her age. Many compare her voice to that of Amy Winehouse. Her voice is highly emotional which is very rare for a young girl and some people can’t accept that such a soulful voice can come from someone who has not had enough life experience. One vocal coach on KZbin recently said, “If you have a song and want to have more emotion added to that song, have Angelina sing it.” At age 7, Angelina’s audition on NGT was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. The next performance on NGT was her cover of Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. Angelina’s acapella performance is astounding especially for a girl who had just turned 8. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZbin went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. On June 27, 2018 Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. Angelina performed on America’s Got Talent The Champions which aired in January 2020. She earned the Golden Buzzer for her performance of her unique arrangement of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. She sang her cover of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in the Finals but didn’t make it into the final 5 contestants. There is much debate over how and why Angelina was eliminated. Angelina has covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, all of which are available on KZbin. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On KZbin, search on Angelina Jordan every song as a fan put all songs in one file. In August 2020, her manager and uncle Michael Astar announced Angelina has signed with Republic Records as their highest priority new artist. Her 2nd single, 7th Heaven is a jazzy, upbeat, inspirational song and was also written by Angelina. Angelina’s family requested Republic Records to allow her to have as normal a childhood as possible until she completes high school and so far it appears that is the plan. She is on videos saying she wants to sing for the entire world and also that she wants to improve the quality of life for all the children on Earth. She has helped to raise millions of dollars for children’s charities and environmental causes. Good comment about unnecessary runs and frills. Angelina usually strips down a song to its basics and only adds them when she feels it is necessary, sometimes to just make a plain song her own. Here, on America's Got Talent - The Champions (all contestants had performed in ...Got Talent shows around the world, but only Angelina had actually won), Angelina, who is well known all around the world, but no so much in America, added a few extra frills to show the audience of what she was capable. Angie, who always chooses the songs she will sing, also rearranges each song to suit her amazing musicality. Here, it was so different, she was able to copyright the arrangement - it is available on the usual outlets.

Angelina actually was not kidding when she said she'd been waiting 10 years (i.e., from the age of three). She is a Norwegian prodigy who has been listening to, studying, learning, and singing jazz since the age of three! Believe it or not she started singing at the age of 18 months. She started recording at the age of 5. She is also the youngest published author in Norway at 9. She is the definition of prodigy. You should check out her cover of "I put a spell on you" she was 9 then. Will be amaze.

Your supposition about the numerous runs (which I too find obnoxious as performed by most artists) being talent show artifacts was actually probably spot on. Because Angelina is Angelina, it's all seamless, it feels like art rather than showing off. But the fact is that AGT is just about the only time she has ever done that. Once or twice a song she'll add a run for some color, but she's never ornamented songs the way she did for that show. The simplest explanation is that a young prodigy already famed for her ability to change her tone, style, even vibrato to match any genre and any era, made the decision to sing her AGT songs in "talent show" style. The result was beautiful, but far busier than her normal work.

Well she's been singing since 18 month old and there is a video of her singing a couple of phrases from Whitney and you hear she had it then. Just a beautiful singer now and through out

Thankyou for reacting to Angelina......As I have already stated....OUR BAREFOOT PRINCESS won NORWAY GOT TALENT in 2014 at the age of 8 .....We call her BAREFOOT PRINCESS cuz she always performs shoeless on stage......There is a very beautiful story why!!!.....I am sure one of Angies fans will tell the story........She has covered many iconic singers and she has written 5 of her own songs......WHAT IS LIFE...OSLO...SHIELD.... MILLION MILES(in memory of her grandpa)....and 7th HEAVEN......(She has 135 videos on utube)......Before her 1st audition on NGT in which she sang....GLOOMY SUNDAY (billy Holiday classic)....Angelina was interviewed and she said.......”when I grow up I want to be a SUPERSTAR”.....I reckon she has achieved her goal already.......I reckon she is well on her way to becoming a MEGASTAR!!!.......There are many talented singers worldwide......BUT.......Millions of Her fans and myself love OUR BAREFOOT PRINCESS!!!

Angelina has been singing for a long time, she has her roots firmly in Jazz, but has tried many styles along the way, and as a result has developed a unique style. Just to pick up on a few points that you raised, the outfit that she was wearing, was made by her Grandma, the images on the fabric are from paintings also produced by her Grandma, they were illustrations for a book that Angelina published when she was 9 years old. You may have noticed that she performed barefoot, when she was 6 years old, in the Middle East, she encountered a young girl who was earning money by weighing people on the street. It was wet and cold, the girl had no shoes and had scars on her feet. Angelina engaged in conversation with her, she had no parents and was responsible for her siblings. Angelina took off her own shoes and gave them to the girl, she vowed to perform barefoot (she already had it in mind to be a singer). Angelina wrote a book about this experience, she has performed at many charity concerts around the world. There are so many performances for you to react to, just to be different, perhaps you would like to try "La Boheme", a rehearsal recording during the recording of her album "It's Magic" just 11 years old. This with a full military band. Looks like you received a few comments. Just a note. She started hearing Jazz while still in the womb. There is video of her singing at eighteen months of age. She did tell her mother she wanted to sing for Simon Cowell at age three. She told her Mother at five she wanted to sing at the Noble Peace Prize Concert. She tried at five to audition for Norway’s Got Talent but is told she is too young. At six she stated she wanted to be a superstar and sing for the world. She has accomplished these goals and more.
