On some songs, Su's singing makes me tear up too. First time I heard Monochrome on the First Take she got me. Also, for some reason, "iine" does it to me also. Other times "iine" makes me smile and puts me in a better mood. I think because it reminds me of when my daughter was very young. I have nothing but respect for these girls, Suzuka, Moa, Yui, and Momoko. I get to see them again this year. Saw them last year in Houston. This year, it will be OKC. That's the closest to Dallas that they get.

Maybe it's another of those translation quirks, calling something Unfinished when English speaking people would call it something like acoustic or without the band and not the 'full' arrangement. The Akatsuki Unfinished version I think was the first live performance of the song with just Su and the piano, so maybe it's right that BM are saying these are the demo arrangements.

The One is a beautiful song. The version from Tokyo Dome 2016 is epic and very emotional.

There's a mistake in the middle of Monochrome. I'm not sure if it's a mistake. Proof that no adjustments were made. I also refused to reshoot some of the pairs that did The First Take.

From what I am aware the first take is you got one shot recording. You don't have to have live instruments there with you. Maybe they didn't want to stretch to pay for instrumentalists. Also as I said it's a one shot recording I believe nowhere do they say about what you can do after that recording is done. But I do think when an artist steps up to that mic that is live, unfiltered and the only time they do it. It all depends on the kind of misake that you make i have seen ones where they have missed timing, the one featuring necro talkie is an example.

Wave, I don't know if there was pitch correction on Monochrome First Take. I mean, if they are able to pitch correct , why in God's name would they leave Su's snort in the song, it was the briefest catch on her intake of breath, but it would be much worse than a missed note, the snort is almost like the beginning of a snore. I reckon the audio is live, but the backing track in both videos is definitely track

Yes it’s definitely the live audio on the first take so they wouldn’t cut out any of the recorded audio. But pitch correction is different then editing out unwanted noise. All the sounds they make in that take are kept, but they’re just tuned. I don’t remember because we recorded this a long time ago, but pitch correction is definitely common on the first take as a whole.

@@WavePotter Thanks Wave. My understanding is that on TFT, you can bring in any musicians, track and backing vocals and a mixing panel. However, the recorded version is the one we get, no post-production. If there is tuning in Monochrome (which I don't hear), then it is done on the desk live when they perform it (which, of course is very possible). There are multiple effects in the video, but my favourite is the reverb tail right at the finish. And Wave, I am really stoked that you replied to such an old video. I respect the hell out of that.

Some potentially bad new just came down the wire. Band-Maid just parted ways with their former Label Platinum. Changing their company Name to MaidIt Co LTD. Ok, a lot of questions here are: What does this mean for pretty much all of their music? Are they no longer Band-Maid? As good as this might sound to some. Its actually a disaster if they can't secure the rights to their music. Starting over now would be very bad & set them back significantly. Well, if anyone can parse through this mess, it's you guys. 🥺
