This is one of six songs that Miyako treated in the same fashion as a demonstration of the musical parallels between heavy metal and classical music, Miyako being a classically trained pianist. The complete list is, “Battery” (Metallica) “Far Beyond The Sun” (Yngwie Malmsteen) “Eagle Fly Free” (Helloween) “The Loner” (Gary Moore) “Burn” (Deep Purple) “Addicted” (Lovebites) I'm a 75 year grey haired old rocker who saw the likes of Black Sabbath and Deep Purple when they were 'new bands' , but I've rarely seen a musician who impresses me the way this young woman does. Talent and beauty coupled with great modesty. I briefly met her along with the rest of Lovebites in London in June, and I'm not ashamed to admit to being very greatly moved by the event.

According to an interview, when she decided to play electric guitar she bought a song book that had the hardest stuff to play which just happened to be heavy metal containing music by different guitarists. Her piano teacher at the time also told her that she is not capable of playing the Chopin piece at the start of Swan song, when she started high school she also felt that she was also at the bottom of the class in piano lessons. In other words she is a very determined lady.

Someone already commented, but Miyako is performing a piano recital titled, “A Day With Miyako 2024,” on 20 October at the Tokyo FM Hall. I believe this is at least her second concert. Now permit me to fanboy and embarrass myself. I was never impressed by any celebrity, sports figure, politician, etc… until I started following Japanese musicians. There are countless phenomenal musicians over there. In fact there are so many I often rank my favorites by off stage personalities rather than talent as it is too hard to elevate one over another. Of course it isn’t polite in their culture to rank them either. Miyako is my one exception. From her piano work, to guitar, composing, humble and respectful nature. She is definitely in my top two 😉 musicians. I briefly met her between LB shows in the US and was simply tongue tied. Granted I wanted to be respectful, like riding in silence on a train in Japan. However, not speaking to her longer is probably going to be one of my life’s greatest regrets. A small women, nearly half my age, mother of at least one child, and I struggled to form sentences in my own language. Good grief! I absolutely want to see on of her piano recitals someday. Incredible person and very polite, or noble off stage. ❤️🎹

Your description of your reaction upon meeting her completely echos mine when I met Lovebites in London after their gig at the New Cross Inn. I had so much I wanted to say to them about their music, but when the time came, I struggled to say a single coherent word, even though I'm in my mid 70's and have been a music fan all my life and have seen many great musicians play. I think Miyako is a once in a generation genius.

This Miyako rendition of Helloween’s song is just outstanding. I always love when Miyako plays the piano. Yes, Miyako is a concert level classical pianist trained since 3 yo.

In the mini-documentary that came with her debut piano EP "Étude Op.23", Miyako mentioned that she wanted to showcase how similar and related classical music is to rock & metal. BTW, Miyako will be performing a piano recital called "A Day with Miyako 2024" at Tokyo FM Hall on October 20. There're 2 sessions - "An Afternoon with Miyako" and "An Evening with Miyako". The afternoon session has sold out.

Top shelf musician, and a very warm, friendly person as well. Based upon brief moments in Atlanta, I think the same goes for LOVEBITES as a whole.

Thank you for your continued support of LOVEBITES.🤗(From a KZbin conversation between miyako-san and the bassist of SIAM SHADE) From age 3 to age 15, miyako-san studied at Yamaha Music School with the goal of becoming a pianist. At age 15, she was faced with the choice of studying either science or music at Osaka Prefectural High School, and enrolled in the music department's piano course. However, she was soon surprised by the high level of her classmates and gave up on becoming a pianist. She went on to a general university instead of a music college. At age 18, she discovered the electric guitar and began practicing on her own. Soon after, she formed a rock band, and later joined various bands. While in college, she obtained a teaching license, but did not look for a job. Instead, she applied for a guitarist position on communication site and was hired. When she was around 23-24 years old and playing in bands, she was scouted by the bassist of SIAM SHADE to be the guitarist for his new band, 21g. She was scouted by her acquaintances Miho and Haruna, but since they were already in bands, she initially participated as a support member of the band under the name mi-ya. She later left her previous band to become a full member of LOVEBITES, changing her name to miyako. All members can play the piano. However, I don't know the abilities of anyone other than miyako-san. In addition to their own instruments, they can also play multiple other instruments such as drums, bass guitar, electric organ, and violin. miyako (guitar, bass guitar, piano &keyboard, Keytar, drums) midori (guitar, piano, electric organ) haruna (drums, other percussion, piano) asami (piano) Fami (bass guitar, guitar, 🎻violin・piano)

I believe she shifted to metal so she could compose. The classical world doesn't welcome women composers. The Rock/Metal world is more welcoming to women composers.

She plays piano, guitar, bass, drumms a little bit, composes like 90% of all Lovebites songs, even wrote some lyrics. Her music power is limitless. Miyako is a gift from God himself to metal music.

Thank you guys for checking this out (a little late but hey....). I pre-ordered the CD as soon as it was available and have played it perhaps a hundred times. Most of my life I've listened to Baroque and Classical music, especially when I want to calm and focus my mind, and this CD goes right up there with my favorite classical albums.

This song is definitely Miyako’s great pick. The original, the band cover and this spectacular piano cover, all so great! Thank god

Honestly, this entire LP of all 6 metal songs she rearranged for the piano are just stunning. There may be better composers, better arrangers, better piano players and better guitar players but NO ONE is better than Miyako at combining all of those talents...PERIOD. That genius brain was likely composing another Lovebites song as she played. She is also gifted that she is part of such an insanely talented group that can play all her genius pieces especially LIVE.

Appreciate you guys covering covering this....fantastic rendition of the original! My favorite reactions to this have been when the reactor is familiar with the original and then plays Lovebite's cover of the song followed closely by this piano version, all in one setting! Not being a musician other than some singing, I can't speak to the comparisons of instrumental prowess between the original and Lovebite's version but I much prefer Lovebite's! Thanks for the video and recognition for Miyako!!🤘

As you were talking about piano left & right hand coordination, imagine how organists play on full organ keyboards, where they are not only playing their 2 hands on multiple manuals, but they are now also keyboarding with their feet. Of course, with the feet, it's more for the bass parts, because it would be very difficult to shred with feet, heh. The largest church pipe organs usually have 4-7 keyboard manuals, plus the foot pedals. There are of course many church/home organ videos on YT, including metal/rock music adapted on organ. I also love jazz/rock organs especially with the Leslie effect. 09/19/24

This piece shows how uniquely gifted of a musician and composer Miyako truly is. She has an understanding of music very few people have today. And she makes it look easy. She totally reworked a heavy metal song into a classical piano piece. That is insanely difficult to do to make it sound good. And then to perform it perfectly, and not use the sheet music. To me it sounds like a mix of Bach and Beethoven.

Guys, first of all, you have to notice how elegant and gracious she is in a formal dress. The albumu title is Miyako Etude Op.23, it is re-written as an etude so are other five metal pieces in the album. You guys must've reacted to Burden Of Time, she even plays guitar with her left hand and piano with the other hand simultaneously, doesn't she. IMO, Asami nailed Kiske and Miho was doing great in their Eable Fly Free cover.
