This performance in Hiroshima (Su's home town) was her "birthday live" = Legend-S (You're probably aware of Legend-M for Moa's birthday and Legend-MM for Momo's BD), but due to Yui being absent for the first time with only Su and Moa performing, along with the song being about a person in a sad place but trying to be strong knowing that somewhere there is a rainbow(thus the title), Su was about to cry, but kept strong because her mentor (and choreographer MIKIKO) taught her that a singer must be able to feel the emotion of a song, but should NEVER cry on stage. This is why many of us fans feel this performance is her best. About Mikio: This was recorded Dec. 2017, but the Bluray came out Aug. 2018. As you know Mikio passed away Jan.2018. When Su sings "Though I know I will never be able to meet you again..." they overlay Mikio in the video, so with this knowledge this song always brings me to tears. And yes, I am entitled to cry because I am not singing. BTW... I will be at their DC performance tonight (Nov.15). 🦊

⚡ / ☂ 🌈 'No Rain, No Rainbow' is a very rare BABYMETAL song. It's been performed only seven times since its debut in 2013. And never outside of Japan. As far as the lyrics are concerned, this is what Su-metal had to say a few years ago: "Sure! 'No Rain, No Rainbow' might be the least metal song of our repertoire and it’s been with us for three or four years now. This song is a total fan favourite though. You can interpret it in a romantic way but we like to think about it in a more open way. It is about simple human feelings of love and loss and how the value of certain things we have in life is only perceived in dark moments. At the beginning, we admit we couldn’t completely understand the deep meaning of this song. But this song has helped us develop not only Su-metal's vocal techniques, but also our way to express our emotions through this song the more we performed it." There are a lot of reasons Su might have been emotional at these shows. At the two 'LEGEND S - BAPTISM XX' concerts in early December of 2017, Su was about to turn 20 years old, the traditional age of majority (adulthood) in Japan. These are the only times she's performed with BABYMETAL in her home prefecture of Hiroshima. Yui was supposed to perform at this concert, but was unable to appear because of unspecified health reasons. The introduction just before this song refers to the bombing of Hiroshima during the Second World War. This intro was added for these shows. That doesn't mean the song was originally written to be about that event, just that they were drawing a connection for these two special concerts in Hiroshima. The last line of this song is: "An endless rain fills my heart, forever." That's a reference to X-Japan's song 'Endless Rain'.
@robokop44912 ай бұрын
While the song itself is a sad one and Su has always been good at emoting when she performs, it feels like you can see a lot of emotions in her eyes: it was her 20th birthday show in her hometown, but without Yui being able to perform at short notice it was an unfamiliar situation. She has said in interviews her and Moa were unsure how the audience would react to the change without much information having been made public about it in advance. But still she delivers an amazing performance as the talented professional she always has been.

I'm surprised you hadn't gotten to this yet. Yes, it has an 80s retro feel, which is probably why it's my favorite Babymetal song. Legend S was a great concert. Su's hometown concert where she was on her A game all night. Yui couldn't perform, but Su and Moa were hyper prepared.

Agreed with the 80's feel to this song. I used to skip this song at first but once I saw this version, it hit me so hard and is now one of my favorite songs (and I almost cry every time I hear it, especially after the solo when it slows down 😀). It also reminds me a little of Heart's Alone which came out in the late 80's.
@poohbear47022 ай бұрын
@@zabber67 That's an interesting comparison. 'Alone' is usually considered another one of the best female vocal performances. Ann Wilson is also one of my favorite female vocalists, and Su is my favorite of the younger generation. My top 10 list of songs are pretty much all 80's ballads (or early 90s) but No Rain, No Rainbow, is the only one from this century and the only one not in English on my list.

Welcome back - but are you saying you didn't get tickets for the current US tour?😲 Su-metal first performed 'No Rain, No Rainbow' in June 2013 at the Legend 1999 concert, so it was ready long before the first album was released in 2014. However, Su was not happy that she was doing the song justice emotionally and that she was concentrating more on getting the notes and the lyrics right than she was thinking about or understanding what it meant, so she did not want to record it for that album. Only when she saw somebody in the audience crying as she sang this song (probably at the Budokan in March 2014) did she realise she could effect people emotionally with her vocals - only then did she feel she was ready to record the song - it was included on the second album which was released in 2016. 'No Rain, No Rainbow' has still only been performed live 7 times - Legend 1999, Budokan Black Night 2014, Tokyo Dome 2016, Legend S (both nights) and twice at Budokan 2021. You picked the definitive performance from Su-metal's 20th birthday celebration, Legend S Baptism XX, in her home town Hiroshima in December 2017. They pulled out all the stops for these shows including the only time I can recall them having live piano and strings on stage with them The two performances at the Budokan in Tokyo in 2021 were also very special and a bit different - worth checking out. As you read, Legend S was the last time Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) played with them before his tragic accident at the end of 2017 when he fell from an observation deck where he was star gazing and died from his injuries in January 2018. It is surely not a coincidence that as Su-metal sings the line "We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you for ever" the camera focuses briefly on Mikio.
@jeffconnors4072 ай бұрын
The Legend S Baptism XX concert in my opinion is the most striking visual show that Babymetal has ever done, it's an absolute master class on stage production . The opener "In The Name Of" is the most metal thing I've ever seen. The closing song "The One" is stunning as Su walks the length of the arena like a queen down a walk way of clouds, it's so emotional when you realize the significance of what was to come. One of the things you realize watching the show is how strange it was with the absence Yui, it was awkward with only the two doing their signature choreograph however as a duo Su and Moa nailed it.

NO RAIN 🌂 NO RAINBOW 🌈 :- NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW is a song from BABYMETAL's second original album, METAL RESISTANCE, by SU-METAL. It has the same music structure as Legendary band X Japan 🇯🇵 "Endless Rain" but with a different arrangement. A tear-jerker when listening to "Mikio Fujioka" guitar solo because he's such a phenomenal guitar maestro gone too soon. "The Legend Baptism XX will be 'Mikio Fujioka' last concert with Babymetal before his untimely passing in January 2018". This is special for Su and Moa especially Su because she got to perform in her hometown of Hiroshima. After the guitar solo, you can hear Su voice wavering as she tried to hide her emotion. Su owns this performance. Her facial expressions and mannerisms coincide with the song. The show at the Nippon Budokan for the 10th Babymetal anniversary is awesome. Information:- •Artist: BABYMETAL. •Album: METAL RESISTANCE. •Lyrics: YOSHIFU-METAL, Mk-metal, Nakametal. •Composition: Yoshifu-metal. •Arrangement: Ledametal. NRNR Lyrics:- Why can't I sleep どうして眠れないの? Why is the night over? どうして夜は終わるの? I don't need anything, even tomorrow いらない 何も 明日さえも A future without you 君がいない未来 Why were you laughing? どうして笑ってたの? Why? I was lonely どうして? 寂しかったのに Nobody knows it's just 誰も 知らない 本当はただ I wanted you to be by my side そばにいて欲しかった Even despair becomes light 絶望さえも 光になる Even if it keeps raining 止まない雨が 降り続いても Even despair becomes light 絶望さえも 光になる Sad rain casts a rainbow forever 悲しい雨が 虹をかけるよ どこまでも I can't see you again 二度と会えないけど I want to remember 忘れないでいたいよ If your dreams continue, don't wake up 夢が続くなら 覚めないで Why were you laughing? どうして笑ってたの? Why? I was lonely どうして? 寂しかったのに Nobody knows it's just 誰も 知らない 本当はただ I just wanted to meet you 会いたい それだけだった Even despair becomes light 絶望さえも 光になる Even if it keeps raining 止まない雨が 降り続いても Even despair becomes light 絶望さえも 光になる Sad rain casts a rainbow 悲しい雨が 虹をかけるよ 今も The unstoppable rain will fill my heart forever 止まない雨が こころ満たすよ いつまでも Songwriters: Naka Metal / MK Metal / Yoshifumetal This performance is very special to Su-Metal because it is performed in Su-Metal hometown of Hiroshima. A su-Metal grandmother is a survivor of "the hibakusha" of the Hiroshima bombings. You can hear Su-Metal voice wavering after the guitar solo. This concert is also without Yui Mizuno "Yuimetal" who withdrew from Babymetal due to a health hiatus and "Mikio Fujioka" last concert before his untimely death on January 5th of 2018 after suffering injuries from an observation deck fall while stargazing. It is 75 years since the US dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 and 9 August, leading to the end of World War Two. Those who survived the bombings are known as "hibakusha". Survivors faced horrifying aftermath in the cities, including psychological trauma. The bombings brought about an abrupt end to the war in Asia, with Japan surrendering unconditionally to the Allies on 14 August 1945. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult

Nice reaction. Babymetal singing a true rock ballad. This is the song that proved the ladies of Babymetal aren't just told what to do. Su famously withheld this song off their first album because she felt she wasn't ready to record it. Feeling she couldn't get the feeling right. it wasn't until she saw fans crying in the audience that she agreed to record it for their second album. That's a lot of power for someone so young at the time. Made me wonder what other songs did Su or Moa or Yui and Now Momoko say um Nope. Or just flat out turn a song down. Or as Su is their leader do they let Su decide these things. Well maybe not the Black Babymetal songs. Song 4 happened because Yui and Moa wouldn't stop singing it while on tour. So, they put it to music. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.
