There's nothing that's not Floor's style. She can do anything she wants. And as she has proven, she can even replace Marko. She then simply sings two different pitches. So that you still know very well which part of Marko was sung in the past.

You are right about Marko, he is really unique, no-one can really replace him. Marko is almost as agile with his voice as Floor, they can both sing with really many different colors and ways. That's how they can match each other's voice when they want. Marko is really a lead singer, as he is in his own band Tarot. But he is also really good with coming up with amazing harmonies for backing vocals. Marko's bass playing is also quite unique. He is not a modern metal bassist, his playing sounds more like 70's metal bands. His big influences are bands like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. He started with playing guitar and his right hand technique looks more like playing guitar than bass. You can see he is using alternate picking quite a lot, not just downstrokes, when he plays. You can say, that he is not as technical and fast player as many modern metal bassists, but the sound, groove and musicality in his playing is amazing. Since Nightwish has only one actual guitarist, Marko is sometimes e.g. using powerchords to fill the space with his chunky bass sound. The new bassist Jukka is really technical and great player, but sounds quite different than Marko. And I think that is on purpose. When Nightwish has replaced members, the new ones are not trying to mimic their predecessor, but bring his/her own style to the mix. That's how Nightwish's sound has evolved through the years.

From this concert, I recommend _Dead_ _Boy's_ _Poem_ as well. If you want to try Tarja, since you are such Marko fans I suggest _Phantom_ _of_ _the_ _Opera_ (official live, End of an Era). There's an official live one with Floor as well so make sure you get the Tarja one! Enjoy!

Hi guys. Following on from Starman_67 below me, as the band has changed/evolved, so has the set list. This 'Decades' tour showcased songs from the band's back catalogue going all the way back to 1997. Anette's vocal style precluded her from singing songs like this, so inevitably a whole ten years had passed since Tarja's departure for songs such as 10th Man Down, Gethsemane and Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean to be performed. This special tour allowed the 2005 line-up to re-live those past experiences, and for Floor, Troy and Kai to play them for the very first time. And as Starman has quite rightly stated, many will never be performed again following Marko's departure. Take care, recent subscriber from England.

Great song, great performance. Many of the songs in this show might never be done live again. It was a decades tour, afterall, with stuff right across the catalogue. Even if Marko stayed this might not get another airing. There are some great oldies on this I highly recommend. End of All Hope Come Cover Me Gethsemane Dead Boys Poem* Kinslayer The Carpenter* Devil and the Deep dark Ocean* (Starred are personal faves with the latter being a top 5 of their whole carelogue) And a rollicking version of I Want My Tears Back that is totally worth checking out. It also plays on the Roman punishment of 'decimation' - the offending unit was broken up in groups of 10 and by drawing lots one was killed by the other nine. One of the offenses to earn this was cowardice, referenced in the song lyrics.

I have the 3 lp vinyl album set of this "Decades: Live In Buenos Aires" concert, and it sounds incredible! I highly recommend you react to "Dead Boy's Poem" from this concert. It's a Nightwish masterpiece

Two very different Marko performances - from his earlier Tarot concerts, Tides, Nightwish Arena has an enhanced version with subtitles for his Finnish intro and lyrics, and his new band's tribute to Black Sabbath's War Pigs, live in Prague 2020. He has performed as a member of some Finnish groups (Northern Kings and Powerless Trio - they're supergroups that do great covers) and as a featured guest with groups like Delain, Waltari, and Ayreon. His featured appearance with Mika Jaakkola on Soita is intense (but in Finnish if that is an issue) - Mika plays amazing slide guitar.

Marko is a great loss, Floor has to do most of the main lyrics on her own, she does a great job but it's not the same without Marko. Troy has stepped up and does more vocals but I miss Markos rasp. The new Album which they are recording has been written as far as I'm aware so that Floor and Troy do the vocals, there was some talk about the new bassist doing some singing but that changed. But in my opinion Floor and Marko are the best 😊🇬🇧

This song wouldn't be on the setlist now, even if Marko was still in the band. The Decades tour brought back a bunch of old songs to celebrate their two "decades" as a band. This wasn't normally a regular part of their setlist. And since this tour they also have a new album full of songs, and are currently recording another album full of songs. So suffice it to say, this one probably wasn't seeing the light of day again after this tour, regardless. Even if they end up doing a 30-year Decades tour, I would imagine they'd choose different old songs, considering they have so much to choose from.

Floor is just another instrument Tuomas has. FYI At this concert on She's my Sin Marko says the F word. I really like what Marko does near the end. Floor was still recovering from the flu here ,she was really sick a couple of shows before this. If u didn't know that Marko had to learn to sing again after a semi botched throat surgery

You are unfortunately right that some of the songs are nowhere near the same without Marco. It's proven that Marco could sing all Nigtwish songs in concert, but without Marco Ever Dream, Ghost River, etc. are nothing. You should also listen to the studio version of 10th Man Down. A very good song. Tapio Wilska handles the male voice of the song extremely well. At the same time, you get an idea of how early Nightwish has strong influences from death metal. A great example of Wilska and Tarja's performance is also Nightwish - The Pharaoh Sails To Orion (Live at Pakkahuone) [HD]. The best part was that I was there enjoying one of my best gig experiences.

This is definitely Floor style - who else can lift the song, just by using different voice techniques? Everything Floor does, she colors and makes her own. The Greatest storyteller and front woman ever.. You need to hear some of her duets with others like Henk Port, Simone Simons, Russell Allen etc etc etc. Floor can make phenomenal duets with everyone - she is that good!!

Personally, I like the audio quality better in this concert than most of the others. It's a little more "raw", IMO. Very well recorded show.

Troy does a good job. However, there are many songs they will no longer perform live. 😞😞A story about a soldiers fight with his conscious regard killing another man for your country. You should check out Markos solo stuff & cameos with other groups. Also Floors Solo project - my favorite sing is "Storm," as well her other solo/band Northward with song "While Love Died" Tuomas' solo project about Scrooge McDuck and the song "A Lifetime of Adventure" Also Tuomas & Troy, with Tuomas' wife Johanna in their group Auri has some beautiful music.

Song is originally recorded time before Marko, so he didnt sing in it. Male parts were done by a guy called Tapio Wilska, who used to be in Nightwish concerts as a spare to sing in the songs that required growling/male voice. This used to be one of my fave Nightwish songs and its waaaay better with original singers. And i DO think Floor is better for NW that Tarja. But this song just aint working with Floor and Marko aswell as it does with Tarja and Tapio.

When it's Anette must stay in the studio although if you really look you might find a live one where she isn't awkward and off key. As for Tarja, she has many fans as they started the Nightwish journey with her. As five albums were written for her vocals you can expect to hear some good performances. Sadly not for me as too operatic in style except a few of the early songs.

They mean operatic is not Floors preferred style, not that she can't do it. She's honouring Tarja's original performance hence the more operatic mode. She can do anything Tarja can plus a boat load of other things.

There are many, many emo's from the old Nightwish era that can't give up Nightwish but still maintain that Tarja was better no matter how many tricks and styles Floor does with her voice.... One thing about Emos.... they don't take change well and will insist Tarja is better no matter how much they enjoy Floor

I've heard all sorts of nasty comments from Tarja fans not just towards Annette but Floor as well.... she has a horse face... they prefer singers that do not have emotional breakdowns, which coming from emo's is just the epitome of hypocrisy....in return Floor fans are very accepting of Tarja and know she is a force of her own.

I think it's time you checked out some stuff with Tarja. You'll see where they originally came from, it was a new style metal plus opera and they quickly gained large fan base. One of my personal favorites live - and Marko and Tarja sounded also amazing together - is Phantom of the Opera (metal version of the known musical, you might know it). It's from 2006 End of an Era concert. There's many great songs from that one, and for a showcase of Marko's vocals I can definitely recommend High Hopes (tribute to Pink Floyd)!

Yeah, that‘s clearly on of the songs that‘s just so much better suited for Tarja‘s style. With Tarja I love this song but with Floor, it‘s just okay. I love Floor but here it just does not click for me Same with a lot of older songs. Wishmaster, Kinslayer etc

You do not get it! Tuomas composes the songs ALWAYS to the style and skills of the vocalist in the band at that time. So this song is composed to be sung by Tarja, with her skills and with her shortcomings (oh yes she and every vocalist in the world have them too) and this is true with all other NW songs and other vocalists at the time in NW. So any other vocalist (don't care if it is Lady Gaga or the worlds greatest Opera Singer) must do a version of their own suiting their vocal style and skills. I do not understand people who expect other vocalists do a one-to-one copy of other vocalists songs - that is what recording devices are for or listen to the original recording - for crying out loud..
