The AC-DC reference is so dope… I never noticed it nor heard anyone else refer to it. Cool!!! It checks out because two members: Felix & the leader of SKZ, Bang Chan, are Australian. Btw, they use some English in most of their songs. For more rap heavy bangers: Easy Freeze Venom Heyday (no MV, but lyrics video or live performances) 3Racha (see note above) Topline Megaverse etc.

Yeah, I suspect you’d like these edgier songs from Stray Kids (SKZ). Possibly also the collab song called Just Breathe from the SKZ producing/rap unit. Would you like edm psychedelic trance? Then maybe look at Side Effects. Else there is always the experimental Tortoise and the Hare which can be polarising but it’s rather clever and full of rap. There is also Maze of Memories.

Also, Han is a BIG fan of Rock - so I wouldn't be shocked if it was part of his input to the song (considering he's been said to have written a lot of the lines of God's Menu).

I’m not sure if someone else said this but something that makes Stray Kids so great and unique is that 3 of the members (Bang Chan, Changbin, Han) produce and write all their music. It’s not something that happens a lot in K-Pop, of course there are other groups who have members who do this as well but Stray Kids have credit for their whole discography which is unheard of.

thank you for checking that out! MANIAC, while being very good, is not one of my personal favourites melody-wise (although it's an earworm), but it definitely is one of my favourites regarding the lyrics. I enjoy that about Stray Kids so much: They're fervent advocates of being yourself, your actual, real, weird self, and they've been like that since the very beginning. They see themselves (and are sometimes treated or talked about) as misfits that have found an actual family in each other, and a lot of lyrics mirror that :3

kpop is not really a genre of music but a way to describe the industry as a whole. This is why there's a common misconception of the word "pop" in Kpop. They immediately think of Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, NSync, One Direction, etc but Kpop ain't it. Sure the Western audience only hears the ultra poppy songs that like BTS "Dynamite" but that's not all BTS does. Kpop does things that no other industry really does. For example, training to be an idol, having "comebacks," recording dance practices, doing intricate choreo for their concerts/live performances doing v-lives for fans, content creating on KZbin for their fans, fan meetings, multiple variety shows, having korean and japanese albums, etc. K-pop can be any genre of music. It can be slow ballads, it can be an EDM track, it can be R&B, it can be rap, it can be pop, it can be latin inspired beats, it can be a mix of everything. There's no way to really describe the sound of kpop, except that it's versatile. This is why you have lines within a group. Dance line, rap line, vocal line, etc.

I would check the idea of ‘boy band’ at the door and the standards. Kpop is more of a subculture than a genre. I’d recommend the street version of their song Rock. One of the first ways I had heard Stray Kids music explained, they called it noise, as in a type of music. Which I don't know a bunch of Stray Kids songs, though I do know some, and like some as well. But I have to atleast a little agree with that discription. Or I can atleast see where calling it that would come from. There music is I think louder, powerful, with lots of energy, and all different kinds of sounds. I would say I definitely like some of their music, but I think I kinda have to be in a certain mood to fully enjoy their music. But definitely a very talented group.

From one music producer to another, have you guys ever heard of Aurora? As someone who knows of all different types of music genres, I don't even know what I would classify her music as. I wonder what you guys would think of her music, and what interpretations you could make. I suggest doing a bunch reaction of her songs in one KZbin video. I recommend checking out Runaway (her most popular song, you may have heard it), Running with the wolves, and the behind the scenes video of her recording the siren call from into the unknown from frozen 2 that she uploaded on her KZbin channel. Her lyrics are impressive to say the least, especially in runaway, but at the same time her live performances are incredible as well. Especially her live performance of runaway. I like the one from the 2015 Nobel peace prize ceremony. She's an interesting one that's for sure, but even if her music isn't your type her vocal abilities and unique deep lyricism cannot be ignored :)

All members of Stray Kids help out in composing and writing lyrics, but those 3 are the ones who can definitely take the credit for making literally every song they have under their names. Some of their most recent releases were pretty good. I loved the song Lalala I would watch the music video to it since it's pretty good and they put a lot of time and effort into it for sure (not like they don't put a lot of time and effort to their other songs though xD). Also saying it because they have a "rock version" of Lalala which is also pretty good. And then another you should maybe check out as well is Megaverse. All members of the group can rap, sing, and dance, it's just certain members hold specific responsibilities depending on what they are best at. Bang Chan the leader may be a part of 3racha which is the main rapping group but with majority of the songs that include all the members you hardly hear him rap much, because the parts are normally being split to all of the members. Specific parts are given to the specific member who's voice best fits the specific parts and they normally choose who gets what parts, also because he wants to be more generous and give more lines to the other members of the group.

Thank you for reacting to Stray Kids! You did really good to watch God’s Menu as first SKZ song cause it’s the better way to find out about them. After Maniac, you should absolutely react to LALALALA, other I recommend are: Megaverse, CASE 143, S-Class. They are the most famous. I know you’ve already read the Wikipedia explanation but here’s a better explanation: Stray Kids are divided into “RACHA’s” - 3RACHA formed by Bang Chan, Han & Changbin Bang Chan is Stray Kids leader and older member, he individually made the group cause he chooses the members himself (this almost never happen in K-POP), 3Racha are the producers, they are a self produced group (this also not common in Kpop). Han & Changbin are the main rapper, but almost all of the members can rap too. - DANCERACHA formed by Lee Know, Hyunjin & Felix As u can say from the name, they are the main dancers, but ofc all of them dance great, Felix is the one with the deep voice that shocks everyone. - VOCALRACHA formed by Seungmin & I.N As u can say from the name, they are the main vocals, but as I said before they’re all great vocals, you should react to “Cover Me” to hear how good their vocals are. Well, I enjoyed watching your Stray Kids reaction and I hope you will react more! Also I recommend another group: BLACKPINK. Listen to me, they are fireee!! Thank you for reading and sorry for my wrong English (and Stays, if I said something wrong, correct me)

I don't know if anyone has explained this to you. A lot of westerners have a very big misconception about K-pop. And that is that K-pop is a genre. Since K-pop stands for Korean + Popular, it's actually an industry made up of multiple genres. K-pop is an umbrella term that covers everything from cutesy bubblegum sounding stuff, to hip hop inspired stuff, to ballads. Every group will have some form of style/genre change in the song. Unless it's a ballad. Most will have some form of rap, and vocals. All in varying degree. Some groups will only have the token bit of rap thrown in to satisfy what is popular at the time it's made. Others will throw in a tiny bit of vocals with the same reason. Since what's popular changes over the years, you will sometimes see groups have completely different sounds from when they first debut. Some groups find a niche & never change their sound. Another thing most Westerners don't understand is the need for groups to have choreography with their songs. Because of the way the industry is, each group is expected to provide a LOT of entertainment. Just having great songs is one part. They also have to put on a show every time they perform. When hopeful people sign up to become a idol, they have to sign a contract to become a trainee. The company is then obligated to provide EVERYTHING for the trainee for as long as they are there. The company is responsible for housing, food, vocal lessons, dance classes, and much more. When the trainee is deemed good enough, they are able to debut as an Idol. And they have to enter a new contract with the company. Each company is different in how they do it (Some are extremely horrible) but each Idol has to pay off their trainee debt. So every song, album, and concert has a chunk of it given to the company to cover what they invested in training the idol. So they NEED to stand out, to perform better, to generate as much of a impact as they can. Over the years K-pop has gone from singing with a little dancing, to huge performances with fireworks. Just to gain attention & support. There are some horrible companies that will not pay their idols ANYTHING till the debt is paid off. Thankfully those are being shut down & the idols are able to have more freedom, but it's a very slow process. Stray Kids are an oddity in the industry. The company had very little in their production. Since the leader (Bang Chan) had been a trainee for a long time (7 years) the company decided to test a new way of making a group. Normally the company decides what kind of group they want to market, then look through their trainees to find the members who fit the style they want. This time, the CEO allowed Chan to select his members. They still had to prove that they had what it takes, so they went through a survival show. They had to write the lyrics to their songs, make the tracks, and help come up with choreography as well. (And this was when the oldest of the group was 20. The youngest was 16. Trainee times were from 7 years to 1-2 months.) They almost didn't make it as a full group. 2 of the 9 were eliminated during the survival show's runtime. (They were originally a 9 member group, but one left just under 2 years into their journey as a group. That was a whole other mess.) The two that were eliminated continued to work hard on improving themselves in the months during the show, so they were offered a chance to rejoin the others in the last part of the show. They made it, and SKZ was formed. But because of how unconventionally they were made, they had a LOT to prove. They have continued to be predominantly self produced. Writing & arranging the music & lyrics is something they do all the time. Even when they work with other producers, they still have a large part of the input into their own sound. They don't have as much input into choreography anymore, but they still have some say over what kind of style they go for & some of the points are their own ideas. But they are setting an example for more self produced groups to make it as far as they have. More and more groups are being given the freedom to write their own lyrics, and have a hand in their own production now. They are not the only ones. There are a few other groups that are being a lot more independent. Some have built their own companies up from small to large with the way they are going. (I'm talking about Ateez. Another group that started the same year as SKZ, and have managed to be the first group out of their company & have set it on the market. They did have a bit of control with the lyrics, but they were given more leeway as they got bigger & proved themselves. And they had a LOT to prove. They are a whole other kettle of fish, if you would like to look into them.) There are other groups that started off with the company sound/style & then when given the chance, they started self producing & changed their own path. These are the ones that paved the way for the idea of SKZ. Without the older generations of idols blazing new paths, we would not have been given Stray Kids. And Stray Kids are setting out paths for future generations of K-pop to succeed in ways we haven't thought of yet. So. Long rant & explanations aside......Welcome to the world of K-pop? Enjoy exploring Stray Kids' vast array of songs? Have fun & don't stop enjoying music. Not everything will be to your taste, but there will be something you like. I hope you have fun listening to songs with tracks that are put together in ways you didn't think would work, but do.
