It’s nice to win an award because you get some acknowledgment for the work that you do, it’s not because you’re better than everyone else. Sure, some people act like it’s the latter but you can act like that about everything; work for a label you’re a sell out, accept an award and you’re a sell out. Maybe if you want to maintain a “cool guy” image then I guess you do this kind of stuff in public but I think it just makes you look like a douche. In reality, if you really don’t care then just get up there and say “thank you” to the people who helped you get to where you are or just don’t show up. Getting on stage to talk into a mic in front of a giant crowd about how you’re above it all is more egotistical than just being appreciative.

So they spend all sorts of time and money, to get dressed up and spend hours at an awards show that they don't care anything about? DOES ANYONE REALLY BELIEVE THAT? The musicians who REALLY don't care, ARE NOT THERE! People are suckers.

What should matter to musicians is the record sales. Not the dollars per sale or total revenue but total of records sold. That is the number of people would found them important to listen to over and over again

Gosh, I remember Guns n Roses live at the American Music Awards when that aired. Pretty sure it was a Monday night and about the only time I heard an F-bomb on broadcast tv.

Those clips were brilliant! In answer to the question in the description: No, they don't to me. It's a business blah and I have never seen one that is not any less than an embarrassment to the wondrous and beautiful art of music. Music is not a competitive sport. 🙂

Lars is really pissed about Jethro Tull winning that Grammy

@@MrChopsticktech that may be true, i don't know who decides which categories bands fit into. i think the record company decides which genre each band would best be marketed in but not sure. it doesn't meant that metallica were being unreasonable in their anger though.
