Another big one... Paul McCartney. According to Geoff Emerick's book (engineer for the Beatles and Wings for Band on the Run) "Here There and Everywhere", very early in the recording of Band on the Run in Lagos, Nigeria Paul was robbed. The robbers took the demo tapes the band had created as reference for the songs they were going to record. Having no tapes they did it all from memory. Pretty amazing and a great album resulted! The head of the EMI studio in Lagos told Paul that if he were black he would have been killed. According to the studio head, the locals believed that white people think all the black locals look alike so he wouldn't have been to identify the robbers. :/

How about the time Courtney Love fed Kurt Cobain enough Rohypnol to take a small village out in March of 1994?
@gattonorris83495 жыл бұрын
He took that himself. I've used strong sedatives and had close calls especially mixing with booze and after a break in tolerance. Also it's an easy way to kill your self. I doubt Kurt was fed them by Courtney like Smarties.
@dreemsnake15 жыл бұрын
He didn’t take that many. He didn’t know they were stronger than US sedatives and took what he thought would work. It was taking them with alcohol that put him into his deep sleep. Courtney couldn’t wake him but then waited three more hours before calling an ambulance. She admitted this in a recording before she decided to use this episode to get people to believe he tried to kill himself even though everyone around him...his doctor included...said this was NOT a suicide attempt. But this is what people want to believe. Even though Love’s successful murder setup one month later is full of holes (so to speak), people believed he killed himself despite all evidence to the contrary. But she had enough people scared, paid off, etc. to avoid an investigation. This so called attempt one month earlier helped build her story.

Nigerian Afro-Pop legend Fela Kuti was nearly killed in 1977 as well: "After Fela and his band returned to Nigeria, the group was renamed The Afrika '70, as lyrical themes changed from love to social issues.He formed the Kalakuta Republic, a commune, a recording studio, and a home for the many people connected to the band that he later declared independent from the Nigerian state. According to Lindsay Barrett, the name "Kalakuta" derived from the infamous Black Hole of Calcutta dungeon in India. Fela set up a nightclub in the Empire Hotel, first named the Afro-Spot and later the Afrika Shrine, where he both performed regularly and officiated at personalized Yoruba traditional ceremonies in honour of his nation's ancestral faith. He also changed his name to Anikulapo (meaning "He who carries death in his pouch", with the interpretation: "I will be the master of my own destiny and will decide when it is time for death to take me"). He stopped using the hyphenated surname "Ransome" because it was a slave name. Fela's music was popular among the Nigerian public and Africans in general. In fact, he made the decision to sing in Pidgin English so that his music could be enjoyed by individuals all over Africa, where the local languages spoken are very diverse and numerous. As popular as Fela's music had become in Nigeria and elsewhere, it was also very unpopular with the ruling government, and raids on the Kalakuta Republic were frequent. During 1972, Ginger Baker recorded Stratavarious with Fela appearing alongside Bobby Tench. Around this time, Kuti became even more involved in the Yoruba religion. In 1977, Fela and the Afrika '70 released the album Zombie, a scathing attack on Nigerian soldiers using the zombie metaphor to describe the methods of the Nigerian military. The album was a smash hit and infuriated the government, setting off a vicious attack against the Kalakuta Republic, during which one thousand soldiers attacked the commune. Fela was severely beaten, and his elderly mother (whose house was located opposite the commune) was thrown from a window, causing fatal injuries. The Kalakuta Republic was burned, and Fela's studio, instruments, and master tapes were destroyed. Fela claimed that he would have been killed had it not been for the intervention of a commanding officer as he was being beaten. Fela's response to the attack was to deliver his mother's coffin to the Dodan Barracks in Lagos, General Olusegun Obasanjo's residence, and to write two songs, "Coffin for Head of State" and "Unknown Soldier", referencing the official inquiry that claimed the commune had been destroyed by an unknown soldier."

I have to correct myself on one thing; Dick Carter wasn't the owner of Altamont Speedway, he was the "first promoter" at the Speedway. He was also one of the test drivers of the 1965 Ford Mustang. Somewhere, but I can't seem to find it off hand, I have a photo I took of his yellow 30th anniversary 2005 500hp Mustang DC that he helped design and is named after him. Here's a photo I took of him when I met him; ducklandes.net/photos/showimg.php?file=/MOTORSPORTS/MISC/Oldest_%26_Youngest_Active_NASCAR_Drivers_In_History.jpg

Actually HAMC wanted the $50'000 back the club spent too defending Animal. & Jagger said he had no intention on paying them so a contract was taken on his life. 3 members had even went so far to get a boat but quickly realized maneuvering in boat is a lot harder than riding their Harleys is. And the police stopped them from their deed but Jagger got the point and Quickly paid the club the $50'000 back. MH&R Prospect Spider

For Alice Cooper to think something’s weird, it’s got to be really, really weird.
