No disrespect meant to Blu or her respectable achievements, but no, she's not the first woman who got a signature Fender bass. TOMOMI from SCANDAL has had her signature Jazz Bass since 2021 (commercialised in 2022) and her signature Precision since 2017 (not commercialised anymore). HARUNA and MAMI from the same band also had their signature Telecaster and Stratocaster respectively, also in 2021 and 2017. They had other signature instruments even earlier in 2012 as well, but these were Squier. Check "SCANDAL HEAVEN TOMOMI's Gear", they have a bunch of well researched info on her gear and when it was used. But it's not unlikely another woman got a signature Fender bass even before that as well. And honestly, as someone said in the comments, who cares about gender hahaha

Squier Eva Gardner P-Bass comes to mind. But I guess that's technically not a Fender.

I was driving today and heard the song “Let it Rain” by Derek & the Dominoes and I’ve heard it 1,000 times since it came out back in the day, but today the bass line by the late great Carl Radle just mesmerized me, I had it cranked up in my car and all I could think about was how cool it would be for Blu to do a cover of it & just rock it .

The fact that she uses humor to indirectly poke fun at the Blu moniker is what makes me think she is humble and doesn't take herself seriously. Makes me instantly like her. Listening to her play, she plays super clean and is a beast of a player. I'll have to dig into what she has done.

Fender missed an opportunity to have something different and desirable here, in reviving the Deluxe body shape from the Kubicki/Suhr eras. That downsized body is comfortable and gives the bass a modern, custom bass appearance. I have a ‘71 and an Elite 5, but the body shape is not as comfortable as my ‘92 Modern Jazz.

Very funny. You don’t have to wait for a fender signature bass. This kind of PU configuration ist standard on Ibanez ATK. I don’t like fender headstock. Long big heavy. Ibanez symmetric headstock is easier to handle. But finally. Never forget. its nontechnical stuff that sounds good. It’s her who makes the sound. ❤
