I remember living in LA in the 80s and running into Rutger Hauer at a small 4 way Stop intersection that we both entered at the same time. I immediately recognized him as our eyes met for me to signal to him to go ahead and go through first. He recognized that I recognized him and gave me a big smile and fractious wave. Back in August of 2022, I got extremely sick with COVID. During the times I either couldn't sleep or struggled to fall asleep, I'd play this video, and even if it took me a while, I always drifted into sleep while imagining Los Angeles of 2019, as if watching the city live and breathe from a balcony like Deckard did. It was such a great comfort. Thank you so much for helping me to get through that terrible time.

I love blade runner, but this ambience is very special to me. The rain gives me a sense of loneliness, confusion, the feeling of being left alone, though knowing others are out there, people just like me. The choir sounds threatening, but mysterious, like you know somewhere, something is going to happen. It fills me with a need of wanting to do something about my current situation, but feeling helpless at the same time. Right now I feel alone, like I'm falling endlessly, but I know, out there, in the rain, is someone to comfort me. So thank you.

The"tears in the rain" scene was not in the script,Rutger Hauer asked director Ridley Scott if he could add humanity to the character of Roy Batty and he agreed,the night before filming this final scene between Batty and Deckard Rutger came up with this and didn't tell anyone then he did it in 1 take and Harrison Ford has said you here a pin drop on the set it was so perfect.
@RyoMassaki
@RyoMassaki 3 жыл бұрын
There was as speech in the script, but Rutger didn't like it because it was full with phrases that nobody could really understand. So he asked Ridley if he could change it, which he allowed. He still used some phrases like the C-beams glittering thing from the original script, but he left out a huge chunk of the original and improvised a lot.

I saw this movie as a student on release date. Together with a fellow student who was 'into movies'. I'm dutch but he is chinese. So I told him the movie starred a famous dutch actor Rutger Hauer. He didn't know him. After the movie he said, 'That was a nice scene' ... He was impressed. Me, I just saw the movie as a whole, scifi, special fx, the Vangelis music etc. For me the 'tears in the rain' scene had not stand out, but for him it did. Only years later I realized my friend indeed had an eye for movies. Me? Idk:)

Honestly, Blade Runner is a cinematic masterpiece. The story is beautiful, the way the world is shown to us is beautiful, almost every line a character says is beautifully written and delivered, and I reckon that Blade Runner 2049 has managed to do something that not a lot of sequels can pull off: it has captured the essence and magic of the original film.

In the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" people can "dial" a feeling; meaning, they get a stimulant that puts their brain in a desired state, be it euphoria, depression, "wanting to dial something", "long deserved peace". It's funny, putting this on feels like dialing.

He missed a little bit in that the psychiatric establishment promises this while demonizing non-patented and effective mental health medicines. Nixon made marijuana and all known psychedelics Schedule I, literally declaring them to be "of no medicinal value", when science was proving they were. Cocaine is Schedule II, (in case you didn't figure out their priorities vs public health)

I swear this music soothes the nerves. Even my hyperactive parrots love this music and it actually calms them, then the music starts to mellow-out my cats. They then crawl on top of the parrots cages and fall asleep. And since it has no meditation ruining commercials that makes this music take you back in time when life was enjoyable and not at war. Then you just fall asleep. I strongly recommend taking your medical marijuana just before you listen to this, because when you mix that with the music you fall into a deep coma-like sleep allowing your body to relax and repair itself. I wish you all a pain free life.✌

Listen Buddy, It may sound stupid but did you watched it just once? Because when I first saw it (a year ago) it was kinda boring to me. Slow pace and I couldn’t really tell what the movie was about. A few weeks later the movie was still in my head and I thought “I heard so often than this movie is a masterpiece why couldn’t I tell?” so I bought the DVD and watched it again and.. I cannot describe the feeling this movie gave me. This film is by far my favorite movie of all time and beats even every movie I have loaded up with nostalgia. This movie has something so vastly different than every other movie that this is legit the only movie I watched 3 times in a row because I just wanted to. Maybe give it an another try because this movie hits different today more than ever because in our future we will face the question “What makes a human.. human?” quit often when we face modern AI. Let this movie slip into your mind. Let the conversation sink in. Let the music flow in your mind and just.. enjoy it.

Last night, I had a weird dream about Blade Runner. The dream took place in an alternate scenario of the first movie, where Deckard failed to accomplish his mission, and Batty took control of the Tyrell corporation, using the tower as a palace to rule the city. Replicants were now masters of the humans, and Batty himself, after he had vanquished his own "death", was concerned about having an heir to rule after him and spread his seed to the world. He held Rachel as a captive, trying every possible way to make her pregnant, but every attempt failed poorly and Batty was growing mad. Then, I remember switching deep down to the bottom of the streets, were I was sitting, with other citizens, gazing at the sky, the rain washing our faces with water, as the distant lights of the "upper-world" shone above us into the dark, liquid night... Then I woke up. And I felt moved. Deeply.
